PRS is the only modern brand I can think of that has taken itself from a small startup to the level of the two major traditional brands. And I think a big reason is not it’s insanely amazing private stock models, but the incredible value models in the SE and S2 lineups. Some of the best sounding guitars in those price ranges.
The right endorsements and the right amount of quality for price. The s2 range in particular is mid ranged and gets you within a stone’s throw of the core models, minus the bling. Its an insanely great business model and Im glad PRS has found its place in the market
Fun comment to start to think about. PRS started (the date is usually given as this though he was making guitars before) in 1985. 1985 is of course when Fender were on its knees and most guitars were being produced in Japan (largely Fujigen) to compete with these cheaper offerings. The company was sold in this year to form FMIC and build a new factory that we know today. The biggest selling brand in 1986 was Kramer. So on one side I think PRS could be seen as growing to be alongside the like of Fender, but at the same time, Fender was nothing like it is today. Certainly if you were to start today, the gap between yourself and Fender is a lot bigger. But when PRS started, at one point Fender didn't have a factory and as I say most produced in Japan. Sire don't manufacture their own guitars but have become Anderton's best selling brand in a handful of years (their claim)... I think what we're seeing with modern brands is they don't start with a luthier creating a brand and becoming huge as those priced guitars appeal to very few. Modern brands with insane growth are doing the reverse and starting with mostly Asian made guitars - Solar, Chapman, Sire and slowing creep in price with Chapman Guitars trying UK made models every so often. But yes PRS have done very well, especially the boost since the Silver Sky topping Reverb charts for the past few years.

Fantastic guitar and the price is untouchable. I guess all the new "SE 594's" will take the place, so the old nomenclature must go. Luckily, similar deal occurred closer to home, but I would buy from Andertons if that didn't happen.
Where were these guitars when I was a kid. I brought a SG copy with no name in 1970 for £50. ( Todays equivalent £600). It was fairly crap to my brother's SG standard that cost £200. (Todays equivalent £2,400). There has never been a better time to learn guitar. It's a wonder how we ever formed a band.
I got the Hollow Body last month and to be fair in some instances it sounds better than my £3000 ES335. It didn't need setting up when I got it out of the box. My band seem to think so as well. It has really caused an internal argument when ever I pick a guitar up in rehearsals
I own a couple “professional guitars”. My favorite being my fender American professional. I bought the PRs SE 245 because I thought it looked cool and I gotta say it’s unbelievable. It feels like a $1500 guitar. I didn’t like the pickups, I ended up changing them. But that’s just a personal preference, made no difference to the quality and playability. It’s my new go to guitar. You gotta get one.
I wish I wasn't so picky with the looks of my guitars, I would instantly buy a PRS (SE). When I started playing guitar I bought the cheapest PRS I could find (SE Standard 24?) and to this day I couldn't find a guitar that is nicer and more comfortable to play than that. None of my Les Pauls or Strats feel smooth like that PRS SR guitar. Sadly I sold it quickly because I didn't like the way it looks. Yeah I'm an idiot. 😅

I have a red se standard and I absolutely love it!
Sounds amazing and great deals like always
Fantastic guitar and the price is untouchable. I guess all the new "SE 594's" will take the place, so the old nomenclature must go. Luckily, similar deal occurred closer to home, but I would buy from Andertons if that didn't happen.
That is some super tasty playing guys.
PRS SE Standard 24 gang here!
The captains guitar skills has improved alot over the years shit maybe we should all start a RUclips channel just to fun force us to play more LoL
I just purchased the blue se. so stoked
Lovely playing guys. Wish I was that good! Lol
nice playing Lee
Sometimes I get a random whiff of Trey Anastasio in Pete's playing and it really blew through camp nicely in the outro.
Pete,
Please ask Paul to do these in violet burst. PLEASE, he listens to you!
Oh pete pulls off some jeff beck inspired coolness! Go pete go! Captain pulled out some tasty licks too.
Yep I can see the the Capt headlining Glastonbury soon.. cheers lads
I cant stand the birds, id prefer dots. Otherwise they look fine enough to me
Clearing stock before the 2023 SE range comes in? Talking of which the 2023 SE McCarty, SE DGT etc etc? No reviews yet?
Wish PRS would release a slim neck version of their stuff. Have the custom 24 SE but never grab it because I love the slim necks on my LTDs way more 😔
