My go to blue blazer that I exclusively wear with jeans on a regular basis for about 5 years use to be apart of a suit, which I done the opposite, I wore the trousers regularly for work without the jacket and eventually wore them out. Because the jacket is a wool blend, it really goes well with a dark blue pair of jeans with a shirt, thin rollneck or shirt with a thin merino wool crew neck sweater. It has become my main smart casual jacket.
You are so right that the jeans must be well fitting to go well with the tailored style of a suit jacket. I pay attention to this and can regularly pull off wearing jeans with the top two thirds of a three piece suit as formal wear.
I'd choose a v-neck sweater over a crew neck sweater when wearing it with a button down any day. The combination of a crew neck and a button down is off putting to me.
Personally, the best way to avoid this problem is to buy a regular bomber style (or whatever you prefer) jacket that works with jeans instead of going through this mental turmoil about which suit jacket or blazer will work with jeans. - Keep the suits together when dressing for success. - Keep the jeans and regular jackets together when dressing for comfort and relaxation. When you mix the two it looks like you're indecisive and that could send the wrong message to people you're may be trying to impress either on a casual Friday at work or dressed down at night. Just remember, you only get one chance to make a first impression.
RMRS will forever be my first choice for tips and advice on how to rock a suit. I don't need to wear a suit, but I love suits and I could watch these videos all day.
I’ve been so long into this pandemic that I almost forgot people actually wear distressed torn up jeans. I realized how I erased that monstrosity from my memory when I had to cringe when they showed up that “casual” jeans.
This was the main look for my chairman of my college program! I ended up liking it and partaking! A nice pair of jeans, and a suit jacket is one of my all time favorite styles to go for. I believe it’s perfect for anything that is a business casual situation.
Blazers with jeans, yes. Suit jacket with jeans, no. In my opinion, it is easier to mess up this look. My suits are in fine fabrics, and they just do not work well with the more casual jeans. Unless the suit jacket has a pattern similar to a sport coat, or is made from a heavier material, I do not like this look. I have sport coats that I wear with jeans or khakis. I feel like this is a better fit.
I prefer to use a Sport jacket with jeans. But I have some Suits that the pants had a tragedy while the jacket is intact. As a matter of fact today I'm using one of those jackets with jeans.
I've done the suit coat with jeans, now and then. I have enough sports jackets that I very rarely do this. I generally wear button down collar shirts and I always wear sleeker jeans. If I wear blue kraft then I wear dark blue jeans. If the sports jacket looks better with black then I'll wear my blackest jeans, and my newest black jeans at that. As I have stated previously, wearing jeans and a sports jacket is something I began doing in high school, at my age, I doubt I'll stop now.
A sport coat or blazer with dark wash jeans is a nice upscale casual look. A suit jacket is much more formal, both in tailoring and material. The contrast in formality between the suit jacket and jeans doesn’t work.
Here in the Chicago area where I live I see it a lot where guys wear a suit jacket with jeans and do an untucked button down shirt with it (one that is meant to wear untucked). What do you think of that style?
Not been done best better with sports coat and solid black/brown/cream jeans My go to black jeans, roll neck , Oxford or polo shirt and sports jacket- works anywhere
There is a strong fashion in the UK for wearing matching suit jacket and waistcoast, usually in a tweed or check, with jeans and boots. I'm not sure whether this is a 'thing' in the US
Antonio I have a question I have a stainless steal dive watch with a black face and black framed sports aviator type sunglasses. Should you match your sunglasses and your watch for example silver watch with silver sunglasses whats it look like and what combinations could be done?
When I was a teen, I found an old morning coat and used to wear that with jeans all the time... Did I mention I was a teenager? Crimes against fashion don't count for kids, do they?
The suit jacket with jeans has become my go to style combination since last fall started. The slowly shifting wardrobe doesn't have much, but the go to has been a dark grey tweed with hints of blue. ZZ Top must have been on to something regarding sharp(er) dressed men, cause I'm actually getting compliments about my looks now.
I often wear a sport blazer with jeans, never a formal suit jacket. Sport blazers I use always have a rough texture so the ensemble is not as extreme. I always wear loafers or boots never tennis shoes. Seems to work, sometimes get compliments.
I am sorry, but that suit jacket does not work with any trousers. Let me explain. I would like to echo the sentiment of Simon Crompton: "In order for a jacket to be matched with denim, the fabric needs to be inherently casual. Worsted wool rarely - if ever - works with denim. The jacket needs to be made from a coarser wool". The looks above may not catch the attention of an untrained eye; and quite frankly, everyone has more pressing matters to keep track of, but this just looks ugly and disjointed, across the whole board.
Scenteno, I’d love to see a video dedicated to my favorite uniform: the Green Alpha’s. I prefer it over the Full Blues. I’d like to know more about your journey in the Corps. Oorah devil dog !
In my opinion, you have omitted one rule, which is complementary to the "wear more formal jeans", namely: " wear less formal suit jacket". One thing that is a huge no-no in my book is wearing a worsted wool jacket with jeans. Other materials might work: flannel, tweed, velvet, corduroy, chino cotton, linen... All of your looks in the video are jarring for me, and the jacket looks like an orphan.
Hey Antonio and Thomas! I know my comment is a day late but nice job on the content as always. Dark Wash and Dark Blue Denim are both on my list since my old jeans have become faded and no longer suit my style. Truly curious what are your thoughts on wearing hoodies underneath a casual blazer in place of a vest? I feel it comes off more relaxed and also suitable for lounging during colder days. Obviously I'd be alternating with sweaters as well. The jackets by the way have patch pockets so definitely more casual. I've seen many people rock it and the look comes off sophisticated yet laid back.
Im turning 70 this year i haven't worn or needed a suit now for over ten years living on my sail boat limits my choices in wardrobe i settled for a black tailored blazer with my jeans an one pair of brown khakis and my Larado black boots! I still have two skinny ties from the 70s i rarely ever wear a tie Lol these vids are informative if you have the need for suits ! 😎🐳🇺🇸
My opinion is that it is a casual option to the suit you wear normally IF you wear suits. Wearing jacket and jeans daily looks weird if you don't usually dress up and should not be used as a formal wear. Also the photo on the thumbnail and the tuxedo with jeans is big no, like wearing pajamas with a dress shirt
There is an even better way to rock your suit jacket --- skip the jeans and wear something decent: flannel, chino, corduroy, cavalry twill, cotton etc.
I would never go without my jeans if I didn't absoulutly had to, i'm a "cowboy" and that's on hard "" but I love my jeans judt because they are dependebale, also jeans can look great in western wear with blazers especially if it's a western blazer, too. Jeans are also "decent".
@@iansoutryer3189 well not "cowboy" but I'd guess at least 2% are southerners or just people that dress like them not just because of where they come from.
Never. A nice sport jacket or swacket that will look way better than the suit jacket. A suit jacket and jeans just doesn't go together. So stop trying to make it work. It just doesn't.
I have the feeling I've watched this before. Untucked shirt with a Sports Jacket, YES, NO, WHY? Sweater goes untucked, T-shirt, polo untucked. Can't the shirt be untucked?
Jacket in tan/brown/chocolate/olive. Preferably with patch pockets, contrasting buttons and textured fabric. Notch lapels only (casual). That should feel right at home with jeans, even lighter ones. Gentlemen, do not fear. PLAIN T-SHIRT! Dr. Jordan Peterson could pull it off. So can you!
Never wear a “suit jacket“ with a pair of jeans! Never ever! This is absolutely the biggest statement that you have no style and such a limited wardrobe that you are in the position to have to make this Fashion disaster! When going with this more casual look you must always and I mean always use a sport coat or blazer. Meaning a coat that is meant to be worn with different colors and styles of dress pants in general but yes Jeans can make this an outstanding casual look that will set you apart and actually give the impression that you have enough self-confidence and good taste to put it all together on your own ! 👔 using a jacket that’s a part of a suit shows that you have nothing going on in regard to your fashion sense. It’s laughable! Again a sport coat or blazer depending on the season of course must be what you will choose to wear with jeans and the darker the jeans the better.👊🏻
I saw a rather wealthy man come in with a very attractive woman on New Year’s Eve. He was wearing essentially what the guy in the thumbnail was wearing but very expensive versions. I wanted so badly to tell him he shouldn’t wear a belt with a vest like that. But I decided it wasn’t my place.
Not a fan of suit jacket with jeans or a suit with sneakers. Haven’t seen these combos yet where they look good. There’s an awkwardness about them. Like ordering a $100 steak with French fries. JMO.
How thin is this dude? 😂 I mean, I'm not fat, but I don't know how you can pull off a button-down shirt, sweater, AND jacket without looking bulky as hell, or feeling like you've been stuffed into it
The trick is the sweater. If it's a great fit (no excess material) and thinner then average, it will fit inside a jacket rather well. It just takes a couple extra seconds to make certain that all the layers are situated properly (not bunching up under the jacket), and I'm good to go.
@@karlr750 Maybe I'll give it a go in the fitting room with thinner garments next time I'm clothes shopping. Maybe something that tapers a little. I'm bigger than average in my chest and shoulders for my height, so it's easy for me to start looking chunky if the clothes don't fit or drape just so. Then again, maybe the problem isn't that I look chunky, and the problem is I'm expecting to look as thin as you, when I wear the same thing. Just setting myself up for disappointment there LOL 😂
