I love bug free food. Thanks for sharing the link to the light. I’m getting one for my kitchen. This video was enlightening. Will be sifting all mixes from now on.
Thank you soo much. I am a new subscriber. I find such peace and fascination from your videos. They are so well filmed, edited and finely produced... exceptionally professional in quality! Thank you for your time and efforts! Thank you for sharing your life and family! Mostly, thank for sharing your loved of G.od and deep faith and devotion! May God bless and keep you and yours and make your time and energy abundant and overflowing so you may bless us with continued videos. 😊
I’ll be honest. Just hearing about how stringent the law was about not eating bugs…i was so judgmental! I felt myself almost rolling my eyes and thinking there aren’t bugs, I’ve bought produce a million times and there haven’t been bugs! But after watching your video-I am so sorry for that judgment! I didn’t realize how unobservant I am in my daily tasks, and how impatient I am so I just rinse stuff quick and move on. That zucchini taught me a lesson, that was nasty lol and the cake mix?? seriously though thank you for the humbling lesson. There is so much I don’t know that I don’t know, and I should take the time to learn more and listen. Thank you for this video!
As a food quality inspector it was very interesting and satisfying to see how determined you are to make sure no bugs can be in your meal. On the other hand it made me nostalgic, as my grandmother taught me almost all these steps. We are not jewish, but they were farmers and they knew more about the right food handling than we do nowadays.
pshhhhhhhh ( which is the sound we make when we are impressed and WOW!! thank you so much for your comment M F:) it is reassuring to have such a wholesome comment:) I would have to agree with you for the knowledge of our elders" for example for my grand parents and great grand parents they did what i do now but with more rudimental tools: they used a white surface to catch things from the sieves and their sieves were often tight weaved baskets if they did not have metal sieves! as per the light used to check by transparency the leaves of lettuce and such they were put against the window and looked through them with the sun! we use these "high-end" lights and such but basics tools are what our ancestors used and they did an even better job then us i am sure! thank you again for your comment! If i may: were you surprised to see so many insects ? or maybe for you it is a regular day at the office ?
I'm an avid gardner. Its really hard to grow perfect produce without bug damage without the use of pesticides. You really have demonstrated why we need to be careful amd wash produce carefully
I love bug free food, I married a convert and he did not truly understand all the measures I had to take to ensure that all of our meals were prepared kosher and clean. He now likes to tell me he can taste the difference and of course his life has been forever blessed with our marriage. Thank you for your videos you are not alone as an orthodox sephardic jew myself it truly enlightens me to learn from your household. Shalom
I love bug free food. I’m not even Jewish and I’m beyond traumatized to see all these insects. Moving forward im going to apply your methods when buying, cleaning, and preparing food. Thank you for all your tips ❤
Hi Angelica thank you so much for your kind words it is true that once that we know how many bugs there are in our fruits and vegetables we are more careful thank you so much for being here wishing you and your family a blessed day
Oh boy! As a Christian you have opened my eyes as what I have to look out for when buying food. This applies to everyone no matter what faith 🙏 they are! Thank you!
When my day is hard, i remember your videos. I try to stay focused and do my profession well and come home as wife and mother. I am grateful for your kindness.
You take the blessing of feeding your family to a level of supreme love!!! This was enlightening and sobering. I’m afraid I have eaten many bugs in my life!😮
I stumbled on your channel and I am obsessed. I am not Jewish but I have learned so much about general organization, thriftyness and so much more. As working mother all tips, tricks and time savers are greatly appreciated. Thank you for sharing your Culture.
I would suggest that all box foods be inspected. If you live in America. The FDA allows bug parts in the food. About the equivalent of one bug leg to about 1.87 oz.
Honestly, reading all the comments on this and other videos, it is so heart-warming to see such positive words from people of different faiths - Muslim, Christian, atheist. With so much hate and division in the world, it is truly wonderful to see this little community of tolerance, respect and understanding.
I grew up on a farm, and I heard you say "We can't eat any bugs" and my first thought was "Oh my God- how does she have the TIME!?" lol! Between being a doctor, raising kids.. I know how many bugs just like.. exist in food. We always just took it as-is and unless something was clearly infested it was ignored or cut around. How on earth do you find the time to maintain kosher, raise kids and have a full time job!? That's the real surprise for me, here!
I never knew bug free was this big of a part of Jewish food prep. Now when my husband thinks I am being very picky about checking the produce, I know I am not alone. I might also purchase more kosher food if these standards are always taken seriously. I don't want bugs in my food.
The Torah expressly forbids Jews from eating insects (tolayim). In Leviticus 11:41, we are told, “And every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth is a detestable thing; it shall not be eaten.” Any food known to be subject to insect infestation, therefore, cannot be eaten until the insects have been removed.
I am not Jewish but I am really enjoying your uploads, somehow you just arrived in my recommended. I’ve always been interested in Jewish culture and I’m grateful that you have taken the time and effort to document your daily life. Specific to this video, I’m going to check my groceries more throughly!
I don't know if this would work for you, but for celery I just chop the entire bottom off. That is where most of the bugs are anyway, and then I just rinse and wash the rest. I'd say I chop off about 1.5-2" depending on how tight the bottom is. Fun fact, you can use that end and paint or ink to make gift wrap and cards, it makes a stamp that looks like a rose. :)
Shalom aleichem, Assalamualaikum! I've been watching some of your videos because I was curious of Jewish customs, and it has been really helpful! As a Muslim, we are told that when we are not able to source for Halal food, the next best alternative is Kosher food. I finally understand why! The strict dietary laws are definitely one of its reasons why this is the case. Thank you, and I love bug free food!
I am Muslim too. And I am watching these interesting videos of her. Like like like like 🤗 As i live with my Christian orthodox family i eat differently from them. Specially because I am vegetarian and have irritable bowel syndrome. I am finding this video super interesting and educative. Unfortunately they don't care about what they eat. But I will be more careful now .
I'm learning so much! I am an atheist who actually eats bugs on purpose for the protein, so it's just amazing to me how different people are. Props...I would not have the patience haha
I love bug free food! I used to think that finding a worm in an apple was bad, but you have taken it to a whole new level! lol. Most people are satisfied to just put something in the microwave, but whether you are in the store or at home you make the effort to make sure your family cook’s and eats the way G-D intended. You make the spirit of Ruth and Esther shine through you. May your children rise up and call you blessed.❤️🙏💐
Any other Christian’s out there that love this channel as much as I do? After watching this video on bugs I’ve decided I’m going kosher ! Seriously. How can you go wrong? Not to mention the delicious foods and recipes ! What do you other Christians think?🥰
I really found all the content so interesting! There are no kosher stores here. However I'm going to check labels for kosher symbols. And next I go to a big city, I'll check for kosher grocery.
I can respect that. I believe God made things for us to eat. He also made bugs that live on plants. If I eat a bug then God must have placed it there. I appreciate all religions and their teachings.
I love bug free food. I recently found your videos and find them to be so informative and well done. You are a beautiful light in this world. Thank you for sharing your life with us. And if nobody tile you today, you too are beautiful and you are enough, just the way you are. ❤️
Oh Sara....I just read in another comment about how you have been bombarded by haters and trolls. You are such a sweetheart that you don't deserve that at all. It hurt my heart when I read that!! It seems like there are hateful people out there that have to try to tear down those that are looked up to and respected. Then there are those who do it for attention. Don't give them that attention and they will go away to unfortunately bother someone else. You know who and what you are and so do we. A beautiful soul who wants to be there for others. Forget those losers!! Love you much ❤️❤️❤️
I am from India, I stumbled upon your videos recently. I initially didn't know there are so many disciplines to being kosher but as a person who loves cooking I appreciate the dedication you put for the ingredients, making and arrangement. you are an inspiration
I love watching your channel and I am inspired by you as a person!Thank you so very much for your lovely kind words at the end of all your videos!Blessings and love back to you and your family!!!And thank you for all the great information
I’m Shooketh! I’m sure your family truly appreciates all the hard work you put into making a meal for you and your family. The ease of what you do it shows just how dedicated you’ve been all your life
I’m not Jewish and though it seems some people don’t have a problem with bugs in their food. I definitely do! So it would seem ‘I love bug free food’ 😊. Your tips are very helpful. Thank you, from BC ❤
I thought I was a clean cook until I started watching your videos. I am humbled by your grace and abundant love of everything you do. At 60 I am relearning a lot of things. I just found your channel by chance and subscribed. Thank you so much for the videos. May the Lord continue to Bless you Abundantly in all you do for your family!
I'm not really worrying about the bugs. Just a small peace of protein, not a big deal. But I love how do you care your traditions and appreciate your contribution! It was so interesting to watch. My picture of the world becomes wider.
I’m stunned at how many bugs you found in the different kinds of food! I’m going to start using some of your methods immediately and may look into getting a bug light. I’m a Christian and had no idea that checking for bugs was a part of kosher food but it makes sense. Thank you for opening my eyes!
I LOVE BUG FREE FOOD! I thought I was diligent, no way and I didn't think to think of powder inside a box or a bottom of a bag that means that there's insect activity oh my goodness I am so going to check for that! Thanks Sarah for that!
I'm not even Jewish but I am super grateful for all these tips on how to check for/remove bugs from food! Some of them I already do, but others (for example, the bug light) I hadn't thought of before and will likely be trying after this video
Thank you for this shocking, informative video… I’m a Christian who’s seriously considering implementing various practices of Kosher (kitchen) cooking… Love your info, your voice & dedication
I love bug free food! I'm sitting here wondering how vegan I've actually been. Look how fast I'm going to get that bug light! LOL!!! Thank you. I've been binging your content these last few days and find myself feeling so peaceful and centered and happy. You have a beautiful spirit and a true gift from God for spreading peace. I love it! How blessed and fortunate your family and your patients are! Thank you again!
Loved this video! Never in a million years would I think to check cake mix! Would love to see more videos like this maybe with parsley and spinach..... both make me too anxious to check
@@frumitup Please add berries to one of your videos. I have found larvae, especially in my blackberries but also strawberries and blueberries that I grow 🤢 After seeing your diligence, I will feel confident to use your method. Thank you. Love your videos but I really need to get some sleep 😉
I love bug free food! I expect there to be dirt to clean up and some bugs on fresh ingredients, but this shocked me!! Also, you may not know, but your expression of love at the end of your videos may be the only time one of your viewers ever hears they are loved. Thank you for that.
Hi Nancy! You are right! It is quite shocking to see how many bugs there are!! Thank you for your kind words and please know I mean the last words I say to you at the video wholeheartedly xoxoxo
I love bug free food! Yikes!! I would never have thought to check a brownie or cake mix. Thank you for making us all aware of the possibility of finding these little critters in places we would not have thought to check. I will surely be more careful from now on, thanks to you. ❤❤
You are so welcome Fran! the cake mix was a shocker for me too! and it was the first time i found critters there! ( hopefully the last time too!!!) stay safe and blessed Fran! xoxox
yes! bugs are part of our biodynamic agriculture, and they are wonderful for that! BUT it does not mean we need to eat them! As per why we do not eat them it is because it is a commandment fois in the Torah in Leviticus 11:41, we are told, “And every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth is a detestable thing; it shall not be eaten.” Hence us making sure to fulfill that commandment!
I love bug free food! Oh my goodness I was thinking to myself how labor intensive this seemed to be for what I assumed (incorrectly) was going to be no bugs. Wow ! I was wrong. Love your videos and even though I’m not Jewish I’m going to probably implement some of these practices in my own kitchen. I’ll for sure be more mindful of what produce I purchase . Thanks for the content you share
I love bug free food❤️ Being a gardener all my life and from parents that gardened we too check our food meticulously. I have seen your bug light link and will buy one for my home. People need to be more meticulous about their foods in general because it will save us from disease and stomach issues. God bless stay safe🙏❤️
I'm a Christian who's learned some things about Jewish laws from early childhood in church and from my mom at home. I've never been Kosher, but a lot of things about what God instituted for food safety and how very careful people should be with their food, whether it's preparing it, hunting/gathering it, cooking it, storing it, and so on and so forth, are there for many reasons, including being healthy and sanitary. It's all about the best quality and safety and security of physical as well as spiritual well being, and the care you take with going through each and every piece of produce here is an excellent reminder of how a person can never be truly sure just how clean and bug free their food is when they bring it home. Thanks for sharing this with us all. :)
Hi, wow! This is very informative. I am Asian so you know how we are not very concerned about bugs in our food but your video is eye-opening. I didn't realize how much dirt and bugs there are in our food even if you wash them. Thank you for sharing this with us. I am subscribing to learn more.
I love bug free food. OH my gosh. What an eye opener. At first I thought you might be a bit obsessive (but that's okay) and now after seeing all of this video I realize you are not obsessive at all. I never knew so many bugs infested our food. It is making me sick thinking about it. I will never look at fruit, veggies or dry foods the same again. Oh no...now I'm going to be obsessive, but that's a good thing. Thank you so much. .
Thank you! I had no idea how many bugs are in veggies and dry goods. Although I do not keep a kosher kitchen, you have given me the tools to protect our family!!
You are so welcome Kathy:) there are many many bugs in our fruits and veggies especially! and Thank G.od most of them can be removed with ease! stay safe and blessed my friend! xoxoxo
But your way is a better way than I was doing for my family. I checked for most of the food to be kosher. I also checked for any dust or anything in the bags so I deeply appreciate all of your time
I am so so happy it could help! And if I may say so with a heart full of love : I am super proud of you for taking care of your family like that! May H’ bless you and your family ❤️❤️❤️
I love bug-free food and homes! I recently found a giant spider on my furniture!) eek! I’m so surprised by all you do. There are so many demands in your life with working and family- although all precious blessings. To add so many rituals and steps, I can’t imagine doing all that you do and ever having a moment to relax, but at the same time, I find myself longing for a life full of more meaning spiritually. God bless you and your family, and thank you once again for sharing your beautiful way of living. You are amazing and inspiring! ❤ I shared with my husband and three young adult children.
I found your channel recently and I love it a lot! The only way to keep the eggs blood spot free is to keep the rooster away, as the spots form only in fertilized eggs. 🙃 Seeing the amount of bugs in dry food is quite shocking, I am starting to check what's entering my kitchen from now on as well. Thank you!
I love bug free food! (Oh HOW I love bug free food--I detest seeing a bug in my food or my kitchen.) I appreciate you showing us how you verify your food. I understand now why broccoli florets and vegetables that grow in a similar manner can't be verified. I learned a lot from this video (as I do from all your videos). Storing grains in glass jars sounds like a very good idea to me now. And I wanted to add: based on your recent video showing how you organize your cabinets, I'm borrowing some of your ideas to organize mine: your organization of pots, pans, plates, utensils, and pantry are so helpful, and the more I'm organized, the more pleasure I get out of cooking!
Thank you for your videos, for reminding me of the joy found in Jewish life. I’ll be honest, I’ve been off the derech for a while but your videos have really been a big part of reminding me how how much I love Jewish life and community. Covid did a number on my mental health (another medic here) and I just couldn’t find the willpower to engage with communal life or even Hashem anymore. Thanks for the nudge to lead me back. Shabbat shalom!
I am so happy it was helpful to you and i am so grateful you took the time to write to me! if you need any help please let me know i would love a fellow jew and a fellow HCP as well :) have a blessed day
I watched the walked through of your kitchen last night with my 17yo daughter, and it was the first video I had watched to the absolute end, so we were not expecting your closing lines which were jarring…in a good way. Many RUclipsrs say similar things but the level of your sincerity was deeply touching. Thank you. Also….I now feel that I need to go get my crafting led light board to check all my groceries for bugs right now!
I was surprised to see the bugs that were In dried foods. I come from the tropics, so I’m used to bug hunting, but then I haven’t had to be as mindful as you are. Major respect for you and your faith.
I must say I have become fascinated by your content and routines. I am not Jewish but some of my distant family was. I think that we can all learn by exposing ourselves to different practices and cultures, thank you for sharing yours with us.
I personally don't mind if there's some bugs in my food, but it's interesting to see just how many there can be. I wonder how people did this back in the day before things like bug lights (or even proper indoor lights!) existed. I'm definitively going to check my produce more carefully to see if I can find as many bugs as you did!
I’m not Jewish but I also love bug free food. I remember being a little girl with my dad making box brownies and we ruined our only box by cracking in an egg that had a giant bloodspot. Ever since then I always check the eggs in a separate bowl first. I think he told me it was like that because it was fertilized before we got it. YUCK! With all the extra work you put in to your ingredients, I’m willing to bet my last dollar that your food is consistently high quality.
If it was large, it was likely a fertilized egg, but if it is like the ones in this video, those are blood vessels that ruptured while the hen was making the egg. Fertilized eggs only happen when you get eggs from a place that houses roosters with their laying hens, which isn't the norm for any commercial operation.
There can be blood spots in unfertilized eggs. Sometimes when the “yolk” travels to where it goes to produce an egg it can produce a bit of blood or what we call a “meat spot”. That can just mean that particular yolk when developing in the hen (they develop before hens start producing eggs) does not fully develop and can have a bit of a blood spot when it detaches. Store bought eggs are not typically raised with roosters to be able to fertilize.
Great video! I am Jewish but don’t keep kosher. My daughter had shown great interest in what kosher is so I showed her your video! Excellent information!
I love bug-free food! Thank you so much for this video, which has been a real eye-opener for me. I got a bit squeamish watching parts of it, but I stuck with it to reinforce the importance of checking everything from the grocery store, even sealed boxes. What really amazed me was how careful you were to check and eliminate contaminated produce and other items in the grocery store, yet you still found more bugs and other contaminants in the food after you got home. And all of this from just one shopping trip! Thank you for taking the time to do a very thorough job. I consider this presentation to be a real public service.
awww thank you so much Vivian! I can guarantee you that. i really got uncomfortable discovering. the zucchini worms : really really specially the cousin that was moving actively! beeeuurrrkk!!!
I love bug free food! After watching your video, I plan on being even more thorough with washing my fruits and vegetables and soaking my grains. Yikes! Thanks for sharing your tips and letting your beautiful spirit shine through your videos.
I love bug free food…and now I am scared of my food😩😂😂 As a Muslim, we are also strict with food but I am sure we never ever thought about this…now that I know, I will definitely do this for now on and spread the word!
Sweet friend: it’s amazing you are such a caring person that you want to share your knowledge with the people around you! I am so impressed!! stay safe and blessed my friend ❤️
Thank you for making this video. I admire you for how dedicated you are to your religion and all the time you've taken to show us all of this. Our family just got sick over a boxed brownie mix. I wonder if this was why 🤮
Never saw any bugs til I watched this video. I was super vigilant this week and found obvious bugs twice. I'm checking the water I wash in, too. Thanks.
Thank you much much for sharing this, Sara. I only found your channel a few weeks ago, and have enjoyed watching your past content. It brings a smile to my face when I hear you say you will put on a pretty tichel 🥰
I haven't officially converted buy am studying, reading, and starting to take my life more seriously. Today was the first day I did Modeh Ani and I got prepared from watching your morning routine. I also did my first Netilat Yadayim with my new vessel I bought. It all felt very meaningful to me as I had heard of Davening, but I no long live close to a Shul like I once did and all I can do is read Torah and Talmud. These videos really are helping me until I connect with a Rabbi (shouldn't be hard, I live in NYC). My DNA has the Ashkenazi marker, but I had been on my path before that knowledge came about. The presence of those bugs was horrifying and luckily I do not eat much of those vegetables, but at least I know the major possibilities of critters in there. Thank you and Shalom, you are doing great work.

Dearest Sara Malka - this video was so welcome. I had grown weary and unmotivated about checking my produce for bugs. The clarity and simplicity with which you present the material has breathed a fresh breath of live back in to me where I realize it is all about the loving care and the clarity about what is permitted and what is not. Kudos and the takeaway here for me it to be fully aware and present about our food and know that less, done with care and loving kindness, is more. I love bug free food 😉
It's funny, because I grew up in a different lifestyle I honestly have no issue with the concept of eating bugs. Whatever you found would likely have not been noticed in a preparation- and I think for my family at least, it came from poverty. Now I also can't stomach eating bugs directly yet, though many cultures do. At the same time the meticulous way you go through these steps for your love and faith is awe inspiring. I have no need or desire to in my home, but the dedication is admirable.
I didn't know bugs were such a problem on produce, bags of grains etc or they were not kosher. However, after finding little weevils in my pantry goods (shudders) - losing a whole bunch of oats and pancake mix .. I am fascinated and grateful for your tips how you check your food over and it's why I clicked ! I try to keep my pantry goods in airtight clear containers and even wiped down my pantry before asking my apartment complex 's routine bug sprayer to spray my cabinets. If I can prevent them again from invading my grains I will try it ! I don't want those little creatures to find their way into my bulk rice or flour. Bless you for your tips !
@@frumitup Thank you . I usually don't so when I saw them I was so upset as I've lived in very poor run down bad neighborhoods with pest problems ! The spray guy said they generally already come in the bags and it wasn't my fault. I was so relieved to hear that but still a bit worried how to look for them. Now I know how to look thanks to your tips. I hate bugs in my food !
I love bug free food! It blew my mind how many bugs you found, I'm not Jewish, but I'm going to have a super hard time cooking without going through my food looking for bugs. Thank you for sharing with us! Love Julia(bug free)
I never really thought about this until I watched your video - and I loved it - so I went to bake my kids blueberry muffins and I double checked my flour and I found BUGS!!! I’m throwing it out and sifting out the new batch! Now I want a bug lite!
I love bug free food! Anytime I buy broccoli, I always double check for bugs before putting in my basket. I usually soak my vegetables in cold water with apple cider vinegar for a few minutes. The broccoli head I bought was covered with bugs once it was submerged in my water + ACV mix. I was shocked because I didn’t see the bugs before buying. Also, I usually have brownie mix spilled in my box but never thought twice something was wrong or could have bugs. Thank you for this video 🙂
I love bug free food!!! I found you a few days ago and have since subscribed and have been binge watching. I am not Jewish but I am always interested in learning about religion and different ways of life. This video has certainly been an eye opener for me. From now on , I certainly will be more picky when I’m cleaning my fruit and veggies!
Time FLEW watching your video, i was riveted watching you discover bugs and admiring the intention you put into everything you do! I’m eating chickpeas tonight, I’m going to check them all for black spots first!
I Love Bug Free Food! YOU are the SUPERHERO, Sara Malka! How you find time to do everything you do is beyond me. Lol. But Thank You for these lessons! A while back I had gone back to the beginning of your videos to catch all the ones I missed & watched your previous ones about checking for bugs and &things, plus how to store & increase the life of fruits & veggies. And I was HORRIFIED to see all the bugs revealed as you showed here. I thought I thoroughly cleaned my produce but sure learned a lot more from you. And I’m so happy that I’ve learned how to increase shelf life! You really can teach an old dog new tricks! ❤️
Like watching a thriller. I had no idea! Yes, I love bug-free food and will be a lot more thorough checking my veggies, grains and co (in the absurd amounts of my vegan diet) from now on. Thank you for taking the time and care to share this 💛
Thank you so much for your lovely comment I really laughed out loud when I read the first line like watching at thriller thank you again so much and have a blessed day
Hello, convert of 5 years over here. I didn't know I was supposed to check the rice....thanks so much for sharing. I will incorporate this new method into my meal prep.
Omg!!! I could not believe all of the bugs you found in the different foods!!! The cleaning and sifting process is just so smart....and the bug light!!!
I love bug free food! Sometimes I wish it took less time to verify everything but then I see a video like this and think "if I don't verify I might feed someone a bug!" so now I really need to get myself one of your handy bug lights 😅 have a wonderful week Sara Malka and may you continue to inspire and encourage us ad 120! ❤️
Awww Amen Ronan❤️❤️❤️ for the lighbox: here’s a link I found For the exact light box I have I do not know the company but this is exactly what I use: happy 🐛hunting!! www.mcssl.com/SecureCart/mobile/Cart.aspx?sctoken=6ad23006ac9045c2874596511375879d&mid=8C3A2643-E313-4991-9BB0-2D46596FC53F&sdccr=1
@@frumitup oh ,thank you for the link! ..this shop has such pretty things! unfortunatly, they dont deliver to europe, but it is fun to have a look at things i will buy, when visiting the US one day.
Dear Sara! Thank you so much for teaching me alot! We may not share the same religion, but when it comes to food we really practice the same (bug free is a must!), but here in the Netherlands we are really easy with food, you have learned me to check and double check, thanks to these tips I have avoid eating bugs (yes I had a bug in the rice and even moth larve in the bulgur!! So nasty!!) And I am even telling other people here about it! Thank you so much dear sister! May the Lord bless you always!! (P.s if anyone knows the light box for bugs in Europe somewhere please let me know?! 🥺) with love from Holland!!
I went through my romaine leaf by leaf and found....a bug. An itty bitty snail. I only started doing this because of your video. No, I'm not kosher (Gentile here) but I am not into eating insects. 😊 Thanks for educating me. My life will never be the same. 😉
Omg I never thought cake mix would have bug's in it. We always make sure everything is bug free but I never thought about cake mix 😱😱😱 thank you for teaching us something new 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Guess who just hopped on Amazon and purchased a bug light🙃 Your video has really opened my eyes to all the little things that could be hiding in our food. I work in a kitchen for a living and as clean as we are I don't think we've ever been this thorough. I'm definitely sharing this video with my coworkers. I'm loving your channel so much. I had a grandfather on my dad's side of the family who was Jewish but unfortunately since my parents are divorced and dad's half was on the other side of the country I never got to meet him before he passed. I would have loved to learn more about traditions and culture from him, but thanks to the internet and wonderful people such as yourself I now can do so. 😊
oh my goodness this was such an eye opener. I absolutely love the peaceful loving energy you radiate. Your devotion to your faith is absolutely inspiring. ❤
I never thought too hard about really checking for bugs until coming along your videos. I’ve been more mindful of it now to make sure it’s clean! I am not Jewish but have fallen in love with watching your channel. It makes me feel calm and warm whenever I turn on a video of yours. Thank you for sharing your life with us! I’ve also learned some great food saving tips from you & I appreciate it 😊
I don’t keep kosher however it seems like a very good idea 💡 never thought of so many bugs 🐛 I will definitely be checking more now , Thank you 😊 for opening my eyes 👀😘

Your thoughtful comment: it really touched my soul ❤️❤️❤️
Ana, thank you thank you thank you❤️
My heart was filled with love and gratitude for your comment 🥰🥰🥰
If I could give a 10000 thumbs up, I would BH!
To Ana M.: What an excellent comment! So thoughtful and sincere and humble. I couldn't agree with you more! 🌷
@@dianegauley6835 I absolutely agree❤️❤️❤️
Yes I agree!
I love you tender heart for all creatures, despite strict rules on bugs, you still took it outside and didn't kill it
Yes! I set the little critters free!
As a food quality inspector it was very interesting and satisfying to see how determined you are to make sure no bugs can be in your meal. On the other hand it made me nostalgic, as my grandmother taught me almost all these steps. We are not jewish, but they were farmers and they knew more about the right food handling than we do nowadays.
pshhhhhhhh ( which is the sound we make when we are impressed and WOW!! thank you so much for your comment M F:) it is reassuring to have such a wholesome comment:)
I would have to agree with you for the knowledge of our elders"
for example for my grand parents and great grand parents they did what i do now but with more rudimental tools: they used a white surface to catch things from the sieves and their sieves were often tight weaved baskets if they did not have metal sieves!
as per the light used to check by transparency the leaves of lettuce and such they were put against the window and looked through them with the sun!
we use these "high-end" lights and such but basics tools are what our ancestors used and they did an even better job then us i am sure!
thank you again for your comment!
Shalom

Hi Angelica thank you so much for your kind words it is true that once that we know how many bugs there are in our fruits and vegetables we are more careful thank you so much for being here wishing you and your family a blessed day

I’m a vegetarian but now I see how many dang bugs I must be eating, just in rice alone! 🫣 I guess I need to start being way more careful!

I’m shocked at what you found!!! I can’t imagine how many bugs I’ve eaten in my lifetime. I will be adopting some of your processes in future. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you so much for being here! You are right! We do find so many bugs 🐛 in so many things!! ❤️❤️❤️
Yes! I’m shocked and will definitely be incorporating some of this in my grocery shopping.
Yet you're still alive
Same here 🙈 Time to buy all these brushes, soap and clean those veggies
I am Jewish. I would have never thought cake mix. Thank you! Have a great Shabbat. Thank you.
I would suggest that all box foods be inspected. If you live in America. The FDA allows bug parts in the food. About the equivalent of one bug leg to about 1.87 oz.

That's just a good idea regardless of religious laws.
Honestly, reading all the comments on this and other videos, it is so heart-warming to see such positive words from people of different faiths - Muslim, Christian, atheist. With so much hate and division in the world, it is truly wonderful to see this little community of tolerance, respect and understanding.
Thank you to be here and I absolutely agree with you; it’s heartwarming to see such unity ❤️
That's the real surprise for me, here!
you are too kind:) i think it is a gift of G.od to be able to do what we do in a 24h period;)
Awww I am so happy it could help Ami❤️❤️❤️
I also choose kosher if halal is not available. Kosher is super strict

@@franlego559 bugs are everywhere. It’s apart of life though. It’s harmless as well so I don’t understand why this is done
yes! bugs are part of our biodynamic agriculture, and they are wonderful for that! BUT it does not mean we need to eat them!
As per why we do not eat them it is because it is a commandment fois in the Torah
in Leviticus 11:41, we are told, “And every swarming thing that swarms upon the earth is a detestable thing; it shall not be eaten.”
Hence us making sure to fulfill that commandment!

The only way to keep the eggs blood spot free is to keep the rooster away, as the spots form only in fertilized eggs. 🙃
Seeing the amount of bugs in dry food is quite shocking, I am starting to check what's entering my kitchen from now on as well.

Thank you so much for sharing this information - I went straight to my fridge and rewashed and stored all fruits and veggies!
I was surprised to see the bugs that were In dried foods. I come from the tropics, so I’m used to bug hunting, but then I haven’t had to be as mindful as you are. Major respect for you and your faith.

I personally don't mind if there's some bugs in my food, but it's interesting to see just how many there can be. I wonder how people did this back in the day before things like bug lights (or even proper indoor lights!) existed. You are so welcome!
I love your story Elizabeth ❤️❤️ thank you for sharing it with me🥰
If it was large, it was likely a fertilized egg, but if it is like the ones in this video, those are blood vessels that ruptured while the hen was making the egg.

Awww Naomi: your words brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for your kindness ❤️❤️❤️
I am so happy it could help A H! I pray you don’t have bugs anymore anywhere in your apartment/house!
@@frumitup Thank you . I usually don't so when I saw them I was so upset as I've lived in very poor run down bad neighborhoods with pest problems !

Thank you for this video 🙂
thank YOU for being here!
Thank you sooooo much Crystal❤️❤️❤️
Oh my goodness the cake mix! 😅 I'm nowhere near as stringent as you but oh well extra protein I suppose
I love bug free food. TFS many blessings and much love 💕from California 🌴
I am so grateful you enjoyed it!
I love bug free food! Thank you for making your videos. I’m not Jewish but I do enjoy learning about your laws and customs!
Thank you Tyler!!

..this shop has such pretty things!
unfortunatly, they dont deliver to europe, but it is fun to have a look at things i will buy, when visiting the US one day.
Er zijn speciale lichtschermen voor bijvoorbeeld diamond painting. Die zijn ook heel helder!
@@dianavoermans wat een super tip!! Kan ik meteen even naar gaan kijken ☺️ super bedankt voor je reactie!!
I went through my romaine leaf by leaf and found....a bug. An itty bitty snail.
I only started doing this because of your video.
No, I'm not kosher (Gentile here) but I am not into eating insects.
😊 Thanks for educating me. My life will never be the same. 😉
awwwww THANK YOU Georgia for your feedback: if i could i would give you the biggest hug EVER!!!!
you made my day!
xoxoxoxo
Omg I never thought cake mix would have bug's in it. We always make sure everything is bug free but I never thought about cake mix 😱😱😱 thank you for teaching us something new 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Guess who just hopped on Amazon and purchased a bug light🙃
Your video has really opened my eyes to all the little things that could be hiding in our food. 😊
i am so happy it could help you :)
I never thought of bugs being in so much of our food! Thank you for sharing your tips and techniques, this was SO eye-opening!
Glad it was helpful!
have a blessed day!
I love bug free food! Wow, I learned something today and will be more diligent in checking my food! Thanks so much Sara.
thank you thank you thank you❤️

I never thought too hard about really checking for bugs until coming along your videos. I’ve been more mindful of it now to make sure it’s clean! I am not Jewish but have fallen in love with watching your channel. It makes me feel calm and warm whenever I turn on a video of yours. Thank you for sharing your life with us! I’ve also learned some great food saving tips from you & I appreciate it 😊
I just found your channel. I’m in awe. Cannot wait to make your Challah recipe. Thank you so much. I’m
