ABOUT UPROXX INDIE MIXTAPE:
Indie Mixtape is the go-to for all things indie music. We serve as a funnel to make sure that only the best music -- new and old -- is delivered directly to the people who care the most.
Indie is more than a music genre. It's a sensibility. The indie fan may be overlooked in our current cultural climate, but they're alive and well -- going to see live music, visiting art galleries, and prioritizing substance over facade. This is for you.
His Last masterpiece, he stuck it to everybody in that album, world misses him dearly
AND *_EXCELLENT_* road tripping music - anthems and beyond!
Because you need a busload of faith to get by!
* - Void where prohibited. Your mileage *will* vary!
Find the unedited version. Every lyric in a Lou Reed song is critical and this omits an entire verse. Abortion too sensitive for you Rhino? But maybe it was Sire, just committing the crime of abridging Lou for the sake of a radio edit. The man was a poet, he knew how to edit himself before tape ever started rolling.
This album changed my life.
How?
@@BobSmith-cm5xs well before I listened to it I was only 5’ tall and by the time the record was over I was 5’10”
What do you mean how? It made a huge impact on me what did you think I meant.
@@deanmccaskill5495 K
For me: Transformer and Berlin had allready done that !!
@@deanmccaskill5495so you still 5 feet tall?😂
On the 6 of may 1996 I took my dad to see Mr. Reed at the Apollo theatre in Ardwick green Manchester .The suburb where we were born and raised .What a night it was , not only a great gig but we got stoned for free ! It was my dad's 80 th birthday.
That is brilliant.
very nice
OMG you were so lucky! And your dad sounds like THE coolest person. Stay safe, my friend.
Excellent gift dude
right on
Unconscionable mullet and shit 'singing' but what a feckin' masterpiece that album was. His last magnificent bloom of creativity before he started fading but if this was the only thing he ever did, he would still be in the firmament.
Magic and Loss did have a few moments, but aye, thus yin hit home!
"New York" made me love Lou Reed. All the songs truly marked a particular time in history .... from screwed-up politics to AIDS and so much more. And this song, more than any of them for me, really resonates through the years. Especially today. It truly takes a busload of faith to get through the days lately ... and lately I'm wondering if a busload is even hardly enough ...
Stay safe, my friends. WEAR A MASK, DAMMIT!
Amen ❣️🚬💋
This is a censored/edited take. Missing lyrics:
You can depend on the worst always happening
you can depend on a murderer's drive
You can bet that if he rapes somebody
there'll be no trouble having a child
You can bet that if she aborts it
pro-lifers will attack her with rage
You can depend on the worst always happening
you need a busload of faith to get by, yeah
Busload of faith to get by
busload of faith to get by
Busload of faith to get by, baby
busload of faith to get by
Whenever I visited NYC or I hear anything about it, this album pops in my head. Only Lou coud pull this off. He was New York. Thanks for not giving a shit about anything but pure expression.
Listening to this in 2021...this is SO good

Mullet straight from god...
He was the best.
From a great underrated movie “True Believer”
"Does this mean the phone company killed Kennedy?"
Love Lou but his hairdresser was not his friend.
Should've had a line about his hairdresser.
even more relevant these days
.. well stated my friend, well stated ....
Especially today, sadly.
Exactly why we love him....
Way over here in 2024 still lovin'
Um poeta, cronista, contista dentro do rock n rol!!! Esse elevou o rock n roll, e o lixo ficou para guns, Poison, pearl jam e afins. Que falta faz o Mr Lou!❤
This song is at the end of the film , True believer 1989. I had never heard this track, until I was watching the end credits!
Lord of thans❤
It took a busload of faith to take Lou seriously with a mullet. But it was a weird time for all of us.
Just watched True Believer (1989) again after many years of not seeing it. This song ends the movie. James Woods, a very baby faced Robert Downey Jr. and Margaret Colin *I just loved her in anything. She should have been selected for more roles.
Lou is like Honey Badger, he don’t give a shit what you think of his mullet
The last great American paleface.
I already loved Lou Reed long before this album came out. Loved Berlin and Rock & Roll Animal, and Street Hassle. This album just cemented everything. Went and saw him with my Bride to be who was from New York. We loved every second. He performed the whole album and then did older songs. This was in Denver CO of all places. He was very gracious and conversational with the audience. Legend!
It pisses me off that his solo work gets faint praise. Don’t compare it to the VU. Listen
Homicide Life on the Street brought me here
R.I.P. Richard Belzer
I put faith in strangers who I haven't lost faith in... yet
Featured at end of good movie True Believer with James Woods :)
LOU REED was new York and New York was LOU REED.
Not a sweet guy; but it is sweet sentiment. Thankyou Lou.
A sweet guy with a Thick NY skin. He had no time for Bullshit.

can't believe in God: what is Faith without a heavenly Father to provide it to you. money chasing is not faith it's ALL con's that lie to themselves .
Have you put your protection around that little girl? Uh... Let me get back to ya...
Listen. The man nevers indicts The Christ as in Jesus Christ. The intercessor to creation is real and he cometh unto you.
So they were both Club 13 and that's why all the kids were mutated?
Staccato like Django...
Sire Records, home of the punks
Right up from day one, Lou
