Being new to longarm quilting, what it I made the quilt sandwich and did an all-over design AND THEN Chenille-it? Yes the chenille stitches would show on the back. So would then'applique' like Ruth did. I might just be ok with that. Thoughts?
Definitely. I think it is easier to add it first- especially if you are adding the Chenille-It with a domestic machine, but you could quilt it first if you wanted to. You will just also want to remember that your stitching of the Chenille-It will show to the back of your quilt.
I’m wondering about quilting first too. I’m not too good at free motion on my longarm. I could do an E2E, crop out the leaves and flowers, then add the chenille-it after. Has anyone tried this?
Hello! You can definitely do an E2E design, and you can even stitch right over the Chenille-It. As long as you pick a more open pantograph and your stitching isn't too dense, the Chenille-It will bloom right over your quilting. Hope that helps!
Love how she showed her process so that is very much appreciated. I was wondering about the red thread used here. It shows as a bit shiny or shimmery in the video so is it or does the lighting just make it appear that way? It is very pretty. Also wanted to ask about the gold she used since she puts matching color in the bobbin can we see the back of the quilt? I was wondering how that would look on the back. Great video. Thank you so much for sharing this beauty!
On a domestic machine, just keep it simple. Try to avoid a pattern that is too dense, and instead quilt with a more open design. That way you won't stitch over the Chenille-It too close together. You can also use a wire chenille brush after you quilt it to bring up the fibers around your stitching. I hope that helps! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
My fabric panel after adding the chenille is quite wrinkled. Ok to iron this? Ok to iron over chenille? Should we iron from the front or the back? Thank you :)
It is absolutely fine to iron it. It will just flatten the chenille-it down too. Won't hurt it at all. If it is easier to iron from the back to press out the wrinkles, that is okay too! Good luck with your quilting. Excited to see wha you are doing!
Yes, Vanessa is in the process of having hers quilted with an E2E design. If you follow either of us Instagram you will see a sneak peek there. Hope that helps!
Hi, Gwenna! I used Glide- Cherry and Superior- Antique Gold on mine. I am not sure which color red Vanessa is using on hers, but I'll ask and get back to you!

What kind of needle do you use?
Do you have any ideas for quilting with a walking foot on a domestic machine?
YES. Some of us are not this talented! Lol. I need ideas for just using the sewing machine.
