    I love using bone in thighs. They are cheaper than boneless thighs and breasts. Plus after deboning, I then get to use the bones for stock!

    • @discogoth
      @discogoth 4 года назад +6

      Yes!!!! I have a big ziplock freezer bag of bones and veggie ends in my freezer for making stock. When the bag is full, I make a massive pot of it and freeze most of it in a bunch of quart size containers to pull out to use for random things. It totally beats any store bought stock and makes me feel way better when I’m feeling under the weather.

    I've been cooking the basics for over 25 years, and just branched out into Asian cooking in 2018. I LOVE watching 'Asian at Home', her enthusiasm and her voice has me hooked on her videos! I've already tried two of her recipes and they were both a total success.

    Hi Ms. Longest! I'm a long time follower of your shows and love your recipes!!! I've added them to my favorites and my family and friends love the food I serve using them!!! I'm a Disabled Vet and my wife is also disabled, which leaves me as Chief Cook and sometimes (most of the time, actually) Bottle Washer. I really enjoy your presentations!!! I'm hearing impaired and so I use the close captioning. I hope you can check out the closed captions on your shows, because they are not saying what you're saying. I'm only mentioning this because your shows are great and everyone who watches should benefit from them. I've been watching your shows this morning, and now I'm starving for some Teriyaki Chicken... Also I think that Mongolian Beef is on the recipe for dinner. (Big Smile!!) Thank you so much for sharing!!! Domo Arigato! Comsa Hamni Da! Shui shui ni!!! God bless you and yours! Dr. John

    The sauce ratios are spot on for me.
    Cooking the chicken until crispy was not something I thought about until watching this.
    I also cook the bones I removed in the pan as well as there is a bit of meat on them still and can be part of the meal.

    I don't know if I said it before (I rarely write comments), but I love this recipe, your instructions are very clear and your good mood is like a rainbow in the sky.
    I am only making the chicken + teriyaki sauce parts (and I rarely have ginger at home so I've been doing it without the grated ginger) and it always comes incredibly delicious, when I make it, everybody loves it and the last time I've made it, it was for 6 people, so I was cooking it in 2 different pans at the same time, it was very unusual for me but it was a success !
    The way you crisp the chicken skin, the timing you indicate, the heat instructions, everything is perfect.
    Thank you very much for sharing, sincerely.
    A follower who really appreciates your work and personality.

    The only issue with this recipe is the sauce yield is too small. I was cooking 4 chicken thighs so I tripled (x3) the ingredients and got the perfect amount of sauce. Other than that the dish is perfectly wonderful.

      Another suggestion if you haven't the time to cook the chicken and have a store bought roasted chicken instead - is to make the sauce and while it's boiling, add some SKIN of the roast chicken to add flavor.

    Made it just this morning since it seemed so easy! It was perfect!
    I didn't have a lot of the ingredients, so I had to be creative. Instead of mirin I added 1 tablespoon of semi sweet wine & 1 water. I remembered wrong and instead of sake (I thought you said rice vinegar for some weird reason) I added a little bit less than 1 tablespoon of regular vinegar & 1 tablespoon water (regular vinegar is "stronger", I thought). And instead of ginger, just a tiny bit of garlic, just as you suggested! Thank goodness I had soy sauce! And I used leftover meat.
    Thank you for the recipe!! Will definitely make it again, closer to the original recipe I hope!! Great taste even this way!

      It’s cheaper to buy bone in. Yes you can ask the butcher to debone, but it’s just added labor cost.
