The crucial thing about the baby box was not necessarily just the box itself, but that to get it expecting mothers had to visit (free) pre-natal clinics. To this day, to get the box you need to visit a maternity and child health clinic before your 18th week of pregnancy.
Kyllä saunakahvit on olemassa, ja ne nautitaan joissakin uskovaispiireissä saunan jälkeen, jolloin me muut otamme kylmän huurteisen. Olen ollut ko. tilanteessa.
One of the main reasons for excessive coffee drinking is the same as with excessive alcohol consumption. Prohibition. The crown tried several times to ban coffee, but failed. And every time it became more important. There was at least three instances when this happened.
prohibitions were attempted along other limitations: 1756 - 1792. Full ban was tried several times, some years at the time. 1943 Finland was completely dry due to war efforts.
When I worked at the University of Lapland, people would have coffee in the morning, then lunch, then at the 14:30 coffee chat, then they would sometimes have a last cup before going home....
We don't lack emotions, but we just don't like to show them in public. On the fines, the purpose of them is not to collect money or pay off the police, but to be a punishment. And to get roughly equal punishment to somebody who is a millionaire or to somebody who is a pensioner, it absolutely makes sense in my opinion to have the payment be proportional to income. On the coffee times, for many people, me included, NATO coffee also was a thing, a once-in-a-lifetime coffee moment when Finland officially joined NATO. Btw, the flag proportions on the video are not correct (the cross is way too thin). The law actually requires the flags to be to the specification, and actually somebody who uses as a Finnish flag a flag that clearly differs by color or measures clearly from the one set in the law is to be fined. I'm not making this up, it's the law 26.5.1978/380 8 §. I doubt anyone would fine based on a video, but the law on the flag in general is quite strict.
@@MananAnwar yeah, the flag in the first seconds of the video was the one I was referring to (I think it might have had an appearance later as well, though I didn't find it now scrubbign the video later).
Regarding number 5, we Finns just seem to be "content" most of the time. I wouldn't be surprised if this turned out to be due to our history as a nation that's always had to numb its emotions to survive under the might of a bigger country, like Sweden and then the Russian Empire. Even today, we're talking and presenting scenarios regarding the nation that keeps having issues with Ukraine's sovereignty.
Just my hypothesis, but I feel that a major reason for happiness is that you don't see people flaunting their wealth. In general, people are the same even when their bank balances might not be.
@MananAnwar the point is, many People Who have never even been Finland, take things Black and White. They are surpirised how People show all their emotions here quite openly. Especially, not to pretend anything and shiw like rage or cry publicly. Hyvää joulua sinulle. 💚
Got amgry when lack of emotions was mentioned and that almost made me cry as well - coffee consumption: turned 20 in 1981 and I've drank four and a half cups of coffee since then. Before that one cup a year. I don't like coffee. Last two cups: 16th of October 2016 my other son wanted me to taste black coffee and when my spouse had birthday on 4th of 2000 I had a small cup of coffee with milk...
Kyllä on. Se on varsinkin uskonnollisissa piireissä perinne ajoilta jolloin ihmiset eivät ryypänneet koko ajan niinkuin me nykyisin tehdään. Olen ollut saunakahveilla saunoessani tutun uskisperheen vieraana. Kotona minäkin toki korkkaan saunan jälkeen kaltsun. 😅
Ha ha, your belief that we Finns are lacking emotions is totally wrong!! We just more calm in public.
Too bad, there is no way to test it.

Yep, that is correct. It is a necessary precondition.
Never heard of saunakahvit before :D
Neither have I. Before or after sauna one is supposed to drink beer, lonkero or juice.
Yes, not a concept. Usually after sauna definitely not Coffee.

Finland was never a part of the Soviet union. Never under communism and never an eastern bloc country. As a Finn you should know that.
Cool behavior does not mean lack of emotion. Example you told at the end is a joke

Saunakahvi? Wtf is that? After sauna folks like to have a cold beer, ice cream or something _not_ hot to consume.
It's older thing. My grandparents drunk saunakahvit after sauna.
Good video but go to a Finnish ice hockey match with Finnish fans. Especially in playoff time. You'll get emotions, You'll get emotions overload 😁
I have no doubt about that.
Saunakahvit does not exist

0:08 Your Finnish is much better than that flag or whatever it supposed to be.
That is a bit of a weird flag indeed
it's the inflation time flag, We had to cut back on the blue colour :D
The cross on the Finnish flag is twice as wide as in the picture.
