"Spirits of the ancestors".. I guess it is because wooden houses crack a lot when its cold. I sometimes get frightened because of loud sounds.. mainly in the night :D

Oh yeah I have heard those creaks. Even in renovated wooden houses it happens.

I really wanted a Christmas Goose for dinner but holy cow, so EXPENSIVE! $127.00 for 1 goose! That's insane. We had a smoked turkey, roasted duck and ham for less than 1 Goose.

I must say I've never heard about such Christmas goose before, unless it's a dish. Näärisokk sounds more familiar

So, ancient means... 19th century? 18th at best?

That’s just the documented past. Estonian culture is not well documented before that due to constant rule of foreigners with their own cultures and languages.

      Pre-Christianity

@@MananAnwar This is hardly believable. We have no written records from the pre-Christian time (that is, pre-13th century), and other methods of investigation yield no detailed data about folk customs and beliefs. Pre-Christian traditions are therefore impossible to reconstruct. Your video is first and foremost about the 19th century traditions, but one can safely assume that some elements go back to more distant past. Otherwise, nice attempt, and thank you.
