I don't understand the urge to sneer at this song. I'm 58 and I loved this song from the beginning. It's got amazing harmonies and an infectious hook. It's 100% pop perfectly executed. It gets me moving and makes me smile everytime I hear it!

@@flumetron I never heard vanilla being used as a positive adjective, but I think you're right in this case. There's a reason vanilla is the most popular ice cream flavor by far! Some of the tracks on that album that didn't get the radio play of Mmm Bop are excellent.

I couldn't agree more. There are very few albums on which every single track is something one is happy to hear again and again. My personal favourite is Yearbook but the entire album remains one of my favourites - along with the likes of Pink Floyd, ELO and Supertramp.

I was only 2 years old when this song came out in ‘97.. wasn’t until I was 5 years old and my older sister thumped me on the head and said “mmmbop!” I asked what that meant, she gave me my first CD, and the rest is history. Unfortunately, my sister passed away last year, two days before Christmas but the funny thing is that this morning, my daughter was running around the house while I was trying to work so I thumped her head (not hard, she’s 5), and said “mmmbop!”… so here I am, now 27 years old, still enjoying this song. By the way, I’m only 10 seconds into the video so I hope they sound good and I’m not just blind to the nostalgia 😂

When this song, MmmBop, first came on the music scene in 1996, I was 20 years old at the time and I deeply believe it was one of the greatest songs of 1996. The boys have grown beautifully and the way they performed their iconic song is simply very awesome.

Such a stunning song and to write it at a young age, they're just a pure talented band; who've worked their socks off xxxxxxx blessed to catch them live in 2022 in Leeds at the Wardrobe and Manchester 02 Ritz xxxxx
