I was 13, sitting in the garden sunbathing with my CD Walkman listening to Oasis’ What’s The Story Morning Glory (we had limited choices in our house) which I was utterly bored of. I also had a book which I was trying to read but I wasn’t really interested in that either. My best friend lived 2 doors away and she had her bedroom windows open and as soon as she played MMMBop full blast, I was completely blown away by the song. It was love at first listen. I didn’t know what it was but I immediately went round her house to find out. I have loved Hanson’s music ever since. They are so talented and have grown into mature musicians but unfortunately not everyone can see past this one amazing song to enjoy the other wonderful music they are still making.

I'm from Mexico so I didn't understand well the lyrics, but I wanted to understand them, and wanted to understand every interview, so thanks to Hanson I payed more attention to my English classes at school.

@@sarabeacher I think that's the beauty of this fandom, we all have something we experienced really young that binds us together. A shared feeling that we all can mutually feel.
I am 50 years old and still love it. I was always a rock and metal guy growing up in the 80's but I fell in love with this song from day one and still listen to it.
That made you emotional? All I could think about was how strange it was. You're talking about 5:35 "Your parents sacrificed so much for your guys' career" "That's kind of a rare quality" Gets emotional 🤔 That's so strange. He honestly thinks it's rare for parents to make sacrifices for their children and their future? Obviously not all children are musicians, but sacrifice is part of being a parent. It's more rare for parents to not make sacrifice for the benefit of their children. Such a weird thing for him to think that's rare. Shows a bit of the out of touch life those boys have lived
Seriously! Made me cry! Without THEM, Hanson wouldn’t be. And I’m so eternally thankful for them. They first BELIEVED in these boys and in turn gave them us in 1997. I’ll be forever grateful for those parents giving me my childhood and also making these boys a HUGE part of my being and my adulthood. I love you Diana and Walker❤, thank you, thank you.
I had seen things here and there online about it and I looked up a video to just see what I thought. After maybe 5 seconds of listening, I went "Yep. That's them".
I think it's sad that only in the late 90s and early 2000s they were mainstream. They are such creative individuals that it's absurd that they're not mainstream to this day. However, the path they decided to take still made them successful and admirable. It saddens me that people who think their fans are nuts for "liking those Mmmbop boys."
I've been a fan for years and seen them several times. I think it's better they fell out of the mainstream. They really enjoy contracting with the fans and are so appreciative. I don't think it would be as fun for them or us if they were still huge. Still, I do love to see when they get some mainstream appreciation.
they might have been able to remain mainstream relevant if they allowed their record label to control them, but they held on to their artistic integrity and chose to stay independent. That is why they have been able to make the music they want to make for the past two and half decades.
Agreed. And then they would not have lasted because they hated the way they were being treated and were at the point of not wanting to continue. It was when Island Def Jam took over that the issues became. Who weren't even a part of the previous albums.
I'm literally a year younger than Zac. I just remember thinking how awesome it was to see an actual band have a kid so close to my age. Plus he was really talented just like his big brothers.👍
@@charmedprince Ayos 'yan!
The Backstreet Boys; the most successful boyband in the last 25 years, has credited Hanson as the ones to usher in their music and influence in the late 90's and early 2000's where they became part of the huge pop explosion that's going on to this day worldwide. A lot of grown up fans are still with them and supporting their music and respecting them as the people they are.
These dudes are actually amazing musicians who are criminally underrated. And their harmonies, id comfortably put them up against ANYONE even an actual harmony group
What a lot of people don’t understand is these boys started playing very young They wrote their own songs, played their own instruments. How many boy bands of their genres did the same thing
I was an adult when this song came out and I just loved it the very first time I heard it. I didn’t care what anyone else thought of my loving it because it made me happy! I made it my ringtone for my friends’ calls and if anyone heard it, it made them laugh. I loved that! ✌🏼💖
I'm a 90's kid from Indonesia..back in the days Hanson is one of the coolest things that happened in My life..their music is just full of fun and happiness..I remember almost everytime I turn on the TV, the Mmmbopp just pop out and there I am dancing and sing along Mmmbopp as a kid..🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thx to MTV, because of you I had a lot of great music experience and one of them is Hanson..
Yeah, me too, my nephew played the cd in the car & I said who is this? I thought the lyrics were really deep, positive & really insightful for their young age. They are adorable & now handsome.
I was 10 years old the first time I heard “MMMBop.” I begged my parents for the CD, & they bought it for me. Changed my life forever. I now own every album they’ve ever released. Hanson’s music is ageless & timeless. Love you guys ♥️
I first heard it from my daughter, who, at the time, was a doe- eyed young teenager heavily infatuated with Taylor Hanson! But they always made me listen to music they REALLY liked (and vice versa) and the first few notes I heard instantly made me want to start tapping my foot. Then i was bobbing my head and i thought wow! This one is catchy, puts me in a good mood right away, and made me want to listen to it continuously. It WAS really really good! I still play it to this day. And turn it up loud! The congo's drew me in big time. Such talent surprised me because I grew up in the 70s - the most iconic decade ever! So to make me a life long fan of that entire album, but esp this song, was a monumental win for my daughter! Glad she made me listen!!
Summer of 97 the song was everywhere, but I never heard the radio say who sang it or what it was called, I just knew I loved the upbeat tempo that was so different from everything else I heard. Despite my mom predictions, the phase did not pass and I am still a fan and fan club member to this day!
I was 13 when I heard MMmbop, and ever since then I'd been listening to their songs for all this years, they are really talented, love them so much, and their music has connected always along my life, thank you Hanson for put the words that I needed to hear. Kisses from Mexico 🇲🇽🇲🇽💋💋
Just saw them live for the first time as a 39 year old dude and I gotta admit it was one of the best live shows I have ever seen. They brought it, it was fantastic.
Oh man, while watching those old clips I could feel the same emotions I felt as a young child! What a blast from the past. Still loving their music and the connection they have with their fans to this day. ❤️
I was babysitting and the older brother was my brother's age. He didn't want his copy of Middle of Nowhere and gave it to me. Then all the MTV press and talk shows happened. They were my 1st full concert and I just lived the past year on a Hanson high with 3 Tulsa trips, just getting back from my 1st Hanson Day. If you haven't kept track or followed... please go see ALL that they have done passed mmmbop. Also to MTV, thank you for this, I definitely cried, amazing job 👏 ❤️💚💙🔥
So much nostalgia. This did make me cry a little. These guys are still my favorite band 25 yrs later. And so sweet and humble in real life!! Thank you Hanson
ohhh miss 90s music , innocent and beautiful time of my life with lots of sweet memories .....but now its gone like a sweet dream ....im 42 now but i still love those days and badly miss 90s
There are so many incredible things about this band, the deeper you go the more amazing it gets. I feel they are above the mainstream music industry. They are themselves, they were since the start, them and the music, having fun. They are prodigies but didn't use it as an excuse to be full of themselves, they didn't try to impress with some kind of super human image. They grew up with screaming fans in their face but didn't lose their head. They were child stars but worked so so hard and kept creating and evolving for decades, just them and their music AND a nice community, starting from their home town that they never left. Just like Adam Young from Owl City, who toured the world but never forgot his roots and never lost his head or his creativity and unique vibe. These are the people that show you that family matters, that young prodigies need values and support instead of being used for profit. (They could have been THE boyband with their talent and looks). These types of people show you you don't have to sell your soul to be successful and yes, you can be successful and have it all without making the headlines all the time.
I was 36 years old when my 12 year old daughter had me listen to a song by 'this band', not telling me who they were, I WILL COME TO YOU, and I started crying it was so beautiful, for I had lost my Dad at 11 years old and a baby girl when she was 2 months old, that song really hit home...THEN....she played MMMBOP, and this mother of 4 was hooked on this amazing awesome trio of brothers HANSON!!!(she finally showed me their pics after MMMBOP) Their songs have touched my heart in ways QUEEN, OSMONDS,(who I've loved since 10 years old!!!), JACKSON 5, MICHAEL, ELVIS.....long list...but these guys music will always be a part of my music list!!!!!
Same. Dancing to Mmmbop face to face with your toddler, your arms supporting them, the little legs wrapped around your middle. I miss those little people. Oftentimes I can't even listen to this song. Or Spice Girls' Say You'll Be There'😢
@@brickhouse7401 Spice girls was her favorite at 5 years old!!! I don’t feel sad. I am grateful. I have a 17 year old son who got cancer at 15. I could have lost him. I am grateful for those moments and for the ones now. Don’t be sad momma… be glad. You are loved.
It's fun to see Hanson all grown up and not being all goofy like they were as kids, looking back at the whole thing as these well rounded, articulate adults. I had only clicked on this out of faint curiosity and ended up watching the whole thing. The 90s were my teen years and I thought it was an annoyingly catchy song, but now I really respect it for all that it was and is. It's actually quite remarkable that some kids came up with it, and it's pure because they did, and the song is actually pretty deep if you you want to really look at it. My kids really like it too, so it's a pretty timeless song now. Dare I say, a classic. As old now as the 1950s music that Hanson would have cut their teeth on back in the early 90s, believe it or not.
It's an incredibly catchy songs and for 3 young children to make a simple chord progresson but incredibly catchy song like that is incredible it really speaks to the musicality and talent of these boys.
Still a Hanson fan! They are some of the kindest group of people I’ve met. If people could get past mmmbop and actually give these guys a chance their music is incredible!!
The nostalgia of watching all these old interviews that I had taped on VHS. Taylor talking over Issac, Zac saying weird things, and Isaac being mature and humble. I remember seeing the MMMBOP video on TV and instantly fell in love.
🥹🥹🥹 this made me cry, I’ve been a fan since day one and watching this made go back to the beggining of it all. I’ve never loved a band as much as I love Hanson and I never will. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Will always be a huge fan!🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 they’ve always stayed true to who they are to their core, never swayed. Major props & they’re still killing it to this day👍👍❤️❤️
It’s refreshing to see that they seem to have dodged the pitfalls that international fame and fortune at such an early age is the sad fate of many of their peers in the industry, and must have had a very strong and protective family to keep them grounded. I was in my 30’s when this song was released, and I’m 56 now, and the lyric, which never really caught my attention so much as the energy of the song did when it was new and I was young, now hit home. I’ve lost family members, friends, lovers and beloved pets; my own children are grown and flown and following their own paths independently. Whenever this song comes on the radio it takes me back to happy times and memories. 25 years - gone in an mmbop.
Was in Goodwill the other day and Mmmbop came on over the sound system...you should of seen the people tapping their toes, singing along or almost dancing to that catchy song...too bad I didnt film it..:)
I remember seeing Hanson for the first time on the Rosie show and seeing guys my own age playing in a band with such a hooky song, that was it! I’ve been on this crazy ride with them for 25 years, through the highs and the lows, and I’m so glad I’ve stuck with them. They’re such an amazing band!
I showed my young teen sons their video, too, just to let them know what’s possible with a bit of work, a bit of luck and talent made out of love of music. They listen to Volbeat and the like, but I’m working on expanding their tastes (Volbeat was my fault, after all). I grew up with the Righteous Brothers and Elvis in my living room and listen to everything from Big Band to Godsmack. And I mean everything. If it has stringed instruments, I listen to it: Mozart to Metallica, Country, Pop, Folk, Sinatra to Whitesnake, and beyond. I don’t do Rap unless you count Linkin Park and Faith No More - although Run DMC was a possibility back in the day ‘cuz Aerosmith. These guys are the real deal, the way it should be done. And I’m not even a fan. 😀
I first heard them in 2017 (I was between 13 and 14) and I was blown away, not just by their music, but by their talent. Not to mention they are a lot of fun. I got emotional along with Ike, I wanted to enter the video and give him a hug.
25 years of the best music for me. I'm 40 and I'm still a fanson! I'll always love them!😊❤️ I have my tickets for Argentina and Uruguay! 🇦🇷🇺🇾😃👏🏻💗 Can't wait!
I was older than I care to admit when MMMBop came out, so I wasn't exactly the target audience they were probably aiming for, but, man, that's a damn fine song. MMMBop is the kind of song that transcends its era and will continue to be enjoyed for a long, long time.
I'll never forget driving 12 hours down to the beach for our family vacation in 97, my sister and I insisted that my parents keep replaying their album over and over, almost the entire way and bless their hearts, they did. These three are absolutely iconic and I wish their talent was more appreciated today.
I still remember like yesterday when i heard Mmmbop and became a fan! I was in third grade and i didn't understand the meaning of the song back then. A few years later i realized it's actually a deep sad song. This song made me a music lover and learned instruments! Thank you, Hanson!
This song takes me back to being 16 years old. & OMG this song was huge. One of the most popular & catchy songs of 1997. Yeah I'll say it. MMMBop is one of the greatest songs to come out of the 90s. I don't mind it. They definitely started the teen pop that was to come.
I've always thought they must have great parents, to be as humble and kind as they are. Especially, when they were huge. They never seem to let it get to their heads. They always seemed to think of themselves as just regular guys, who happen to be very fortunate.
I started listening to Hanson since I was a teenager in the late 90's and Into the early 2000's it was awesome and I'm a big fan and today I'm in my early 40's and I haven't heard that song ever since and now I'm watching it on RUclips I can listen to it whenever I want
What a beautiful compilation of all of the great MTV Hanson clips we've always LOVED + extra behind the scenes fun and all of the new heartfelt interviews and memories! Adore! Thank you!
I loved the song when it came out and not ashamed to admit that I still love it (and all their newer versions throughout the years) at 52 years old! Great Kids!! Proud of them!
I was an adult when Hanson hit the scene in 1997. For me, MMMBOP became my favorite song when I learned the lyrics, learned about the biblical references and deep meaning to the song. I will always be a fan of their music and wish them continued success. I'm thankful I got to see them in concert twice, I won't be able to see them in concert ever again though so I'm kinda sad about that. Edit, here in TX they meaning the concert venue can't ask for negative test or proof of 💉. So that's awesome!
I feel like I know them. All these years of great memories. When I first found them I was pretty depressed. Everytime I heard them I felt good. It was amazing.... They've always been so humble. Very sweet and talented. I think it was part of the appeal. They didn't seem polished. Just regular kids who also happened to be super talented. Kids identied with them. They have always been so appreciative of everything they have. I've met Isaac and Zac once and Taylor twice. The second time I met Taylor I was actually able to put some words together lol. He made a point to look me in the eyes as I told him, thank you for all the great memories they've given me, and thanked me back. ❤️💜 Love them forever.
I absolutely loved and still love Hanson!!! So authentic and such good artists! Always stayed true to themselves! I saw them in concert like 7-8 years ago and they were amazing! They put on such a great show!
That important it became to me that song that changed my life for ever. I am Argentinian and I started to study Engligh because I wanted to understand all about Hanson. Now I am an English teacher. I STILL LOVE THEM
I’ve met them numerous times and can confirm this. They are always kind and take as much time with you as they can, even if you can tell they’re a bit rushed. When they were signing one of their record covers and I told them I was putting it on my wall, they even took the time to personalize it. When I was doing one of their walks at my college, they spent more time speaking with the current fans, and while they still spent time with and had great conversations with the girls who came purely for nostalgia’s sake, I thought that was nice. They’re just down-to-earth, really nice guys who are very accessible to their fans, and I think that’s one reason they’ve maintained so much of their fan base for almost 26 years now.
I'm a bit younger than Zac and I can remember seeing that kid for the first time. Sitting behind that drum set, my eyes lit up! Like I connected with him. I was obsessed with the Hanson logo where all the letters were a part of one another. So many little things that add up to why I love these guys so much.
OMg, all the clips that I taped on my VHS player before tivo was invented and before streaming internet... hello dial up modem era! What a trip back to memory lane. The best years of my youth!!!!
I was in year 7 (1997) when I first heard MMMBop and I was obsessed with Hanson for several years after. Recently I played MMMBOP to my little boy and now he is a huge fan of their music.
🇲🇽 I was 13 watching tb and suddenly a video was on and I couldnt see who they were, so next day I came to school and asked a dese friend and she didnt knew what song I was humming lol so i started watching a lot mtv to catch this video again, and there they were : Hanson! It was love at first sight, didnt knew Hanson would change my life in a good way (learned to do websites, to edit in photoshop, exchanged Hanson merch with a brszilian friend, made friends from other places for the first time etc) many many years later Hanson is still à part of My life.
I was 11 when that song came out in 1997. You could not go anywhere and not hear it. Looking back, it has some of the truest lyrics in a song. Will always be a fan of Hanson.
i’m only 21 and grew up on Hanson! my mom and i are going to their concert later this year i’m so excited! it’ll be our second time seeing/meeting them
Talented group of guys, still putting out great music and never forgetting or being ashamed on what got them there. MmmBop is still catchy and it was everywhere.
So many people didn't listen to the lyrics at the time. It has stood the test of time ❤ my kids were so embarrassed when I played it full blast on tne car stereo. Ive put i t on my funeral playlist, it is such an iconic song
I was in my mid-twenties when I first heard this song. I was hooked! I think my flatemates got sick of hearing this single. I eventually got the album and I was hooked. I am in my early 50's now and still love their music. I am so glad they wrote that song and it became a hit single. I wasn't a female teen fan. I was an female adult fan of the gorup. They did well and I believe continue to do well. Well done!
Watching this is pure nostalgia. I remember seeing the video for the first time on MTV Fresh at my grandma's apartment when I was 10. Love them since then. That moment was proof that one didn't have to understand the song to love the band. I was 10, give me a break, how was I supposed to know the deeper meaning of the song really when all that got stuck in my head was the english-less chorus. Anyway! I love them and will always do! 💚 ♥️ 💙 Curious thought... Just how "viral" would it be had this song came out around this time? Always curious how it would be when social media is there to add so much fire to the already blazing song. But that aside, i am glad it came out during the time when the internet wasnt that powerful yet. We all have those special moments of waiting for the song to come up on tv or the radio other than having it conveniently over the internet. Just makes it even more special. Mmmbop has stood the test of time. 25 years later and we are still loving it.
My sister and I wore Middle of nowhere OUT. WE were obsessed. At the time I was in love with Taylor and my sister loved little Zac. As an adult I now adore all three but now see Isaac for the hunk he is! Thanks for all the good memories boys! We got your album and played it on the school bus ride and had a morning party to school everyday 😊
I'm freaking love Hanson and I will always support the band. 🙌🏻 The 3 brothers deserve the best. It's a shame they're underrated that much. 🙇🏻♀️ ❤️ from 🇫🇷

I’m glad they are not main stream today they are gems and I’m glad they weren’t ruined people today wouldn’t get it
Jesus freaks now 🙄
they might have been able to remain mainstream relevant if they allowed their record label to control them, but they held on to their artistic integrity and chose to stay independent.
It was number 1 in Zimbabwe. It was absolutely EVERYWHERE in Zimbabwe
Did Mugabe like it?

MMMBop is one of the greatest songs to come out of the 90s.
25 years a fan. Going to see them in 17 days in Denmark.
That's awesome
I hope you have a nice time :)
Everyone talks about MMBop but This Time Around was their best song.
I'm a 90's kid from Indonesia..back in the days Hanson is one of the coolest things that happened in My life..their music is just full of fun and happiness..I remember almost everytime I turn on the TV, the Mmmbopp just pop out and there I am dancing and sing along Mmmbopp as a kid..🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thx to MTV, because of you I had a lot of great music experience and one of them is Hanson..
I was in my 30’s when Mmmbop came out- I was a fan then and still remain a fan!
Yeah, me too, my nephew played the cd in the car & I said who is this? I thought the lyrics were really deep, positive & really insightful for their young age. They are adorable & now handsome.
Same! I was 30 and became an instant fan! I thought I was the only “older” fan lol.
I am nearly 60 and I love the guys
I was 10 years old the first time I heard “MMMBop.” I begged my parents for the CD, & they bought it for me. Changed my life forever. I now own every album they’ve ever released. Hanson’s music is ageless & timeless. Love you guys ♥️
25 years later and they are still amazing and still my fave. ❤
I just turned 44 years today and I still have the single. This song always joys me up.
Just saw them live for the first time as a 39 year old dude and I gotta admit it was one of the best live shows I have ever seen. They brought it, it was fantastic.
Pretty amazing to learn the song has a deeper meaning. Also, how humble they all are. That's rare to see.
Dave Holmes nailed it at 2:09 🎯 And what Isaac said at the end was so sweet 🥹 This is easily one of the best pieces I’ve ever seen about them.
Same here, my son was 11. I did get to see them in concert about 4 years ago, loved it!
I was a 27 year old mom who felt so alive listening to Hanson. I have very fond memories of this time in my life.
Little beans and whatnot. Serving for the.
¨I´m a little bit weird¨ LOL I get you Zac :D
😂 And he never changed.
I have tears in my eyes just reading your comment. The guys are precious.

Was in Goodwill the other day and Mmmbop came on over the sound system...you should of seen the people tapping their toes, singing along or almost dancing to that catchy song...too bad I didnt film it..:)
eternal love for these three wonderful men and their music❤️❤️❤️
I heard it on the radio in my car and have been a fan ever since. These guys are a national treasure! Their music is amazing ❤️💚💙
Me too, heard it on the radio!
Still a big fan of Hanson since 1997 from Switzerland 🇨🇭🇨🇭 best Band in the world!
I was 30 & my little nephew played their cd & I thought their lyrics were really deep & they were adorable 🥰
I jammed with my children. 🥰
@@HeadNtheClouds lol xD
Yeah its truly legendary
@@jamieroberts1985 Yes, it's so legendary that even Cleveland from Family Guy jammed to it!
I'll never forget driving 12 hours down to the beach for our family vacation in 97, my sister and I insisted that my parents keep replaying their album over and over, almost the entire way and bless their hearts, they did.
These three are absolutely iconic and I wish their talent was more appreciated today.
Real music right here.
This song for the rest of lifetime will be a pump up, feel good,,bopping your head, entire body moving hit
Completely under rated musicians. Hanson are beyond talented
They are different and I love them. As a newly minted mom, it makes my heart sing to hear Ike talk about his parents and especially his mom.
Congratulations on your little one! It's going to be difficult, rewarding and one heck of a ride!
Adore! Thank you!
I love Hanson. The were and still are great musicians.
I love Dave’s passion for pop culture 💕
I loved the song when it came out and not ashamed to admit that I still love it (and all their newer versions throughout the years) at 52 years old! Great Kids!! Proud of them!
Oh I absolutely loved every single second of this video. I will die a Hanson fan. These humans mean more to me than they’ll ever know. 🧡
This song always makes me happy.
Nobody knows what mmmbop really means...its like the boys are singing in tongues!......kidding! 😊😅

They put on such a great show!
they have so many good songs
That important it became to me that song that changed my life for ever. I am Argentinian and I started to study Engligh because I wanted to understand all about Hanson. Now I am an English teacher. I STILL LOVE THEM
They are actually very sweet with their fans, I have a friend that met them numerous times in concerts and even was part of a video clip
I really love the song 'Yearbook' off of the first album. A song that pulls on your hearts strings.
I'm a bit younger than Zac and I can remember seeing that kid for the first time. Sitting behind that drum set, my eyes lit up! Like I connected with him. I was obsessed with the Hanson logo where all the letters were a part of one another. So many little things that add up to why I love these guys so much.
Many years hand in hand...Hanson forever 😃♥️♥️♥️🎶🎶
I love this! And the unseen footage from the 90s! ❤️

I was a mom of middle school and high school kids when this came out and I think I loved this song even more than my kids, huge fan!
25 years later and I am still, and always will be, a Hanson fan
"Weird" is one of the most underrated songs of the 90s....still relevant today.
when I hear this song again and again, I feel all my nice memories in the past come to my head suddenly, I feel so joyfull and so incredible..
I was 11 when that song came out in 1997. You could not go anywhere and not hear it. Looking back, it has some of the truest lyrics in a song. Will always be a fan of Hanson.

They seem like genuinely nice people..bless them ❤
Talented group of guys, still putting out great music and never forgetting or being ashamed on what got them there.
Well done!
They should have one Grammy at least. Still a hardcore fan all these years later. 😊
I'm so happy they are getting attention. I love them so much.
Curious thought...
🙇🏻♀️ ❤️ from 🇫🇷
What a coincidence, I just visited my copy of that cassette album from 1997 I purchased when I was 13 years old here in the Philippines and listening on it brings back a lot of teen age memories thanks Hanson Bros., you truly captured the world with your music… 👍😘
