It's now routine in police world-wide (extensively used by French one): innocent people not accustomed to demonstrations gather to express their distress; police attack ("charge") them; people, seeing they have no path to get away and go back home, and still thinking nevertheless that police is respectful and even friendly to law, to justice and to the people, come to them to ask to let them pass the barrage and go back home; police refuse and further strengthen the barrage then fake to be attacked, throw grenades and fire tight shots right in the head of innocent people (dozens innocent with an eye lost, more with skull or face broken, one dozen with hand lost when trying to drive a grenade away from fellows and return it to throwers, and this according to gov figures, which are notoriously smaller than reality). So the parents didnt notice that their kids are missing for 1 whole week? or do the so called "football practice" almost everyday while carrying riot gear and petrol bombs? They suddenly show up when their kids get arrested, charge those parents as well for their involvement in the protest
In Hong Kong the kids "family" are their friends. Not many are privileged enough to have one of the parents at home. They are too busy trying to make ends meet to try to survive with the high cost of housing which is the fault of the land barons that do not want to develop more housing for the lower class. Or maybe the parents are deadbeats that hang out playing Mahjong or gambling all day. No one knows their economic background. Some are from wealthy families that want to prove to their parents that they are wrong. This is the young thinking that they know everything because they read it on the internet. They are not a child, the fact they are university students. These are grown adults. If they feel scare why are they going forward with intent to throw fire/petrol bomb?
Now you cry. Well if you can’t do the time, don’t do the deeds. And the mother really was saying because the kid can’t think clearly of the consequence of their actions, so the government can’t think clearly too? Well, if you raise your kids undisciplined, the society will discipline them for you. I guess that is why you cannot stop them from building this ridiculous “fortress”, they got no respect for your authority.
Anna Montageo Well, would you prefer a violent crackdown? It’s already clear the government cannot comply with the ridiculous 5 demands (release all the rioters? seriously?) so their only choice, besides shooting the lot, is to wait it out.
Anna Montageo I am also talking about the protest. Wait out the protest, same tactic as the rioters/protestors. “If only the government listened to us sooner, none of this would’ve happened!” If a man has a gun to your head asking you for all your money, you refuse, then he shoots you, can the guy with the gun say: “If only the guy I was mugging listened to me, he wouldn’t have died!” See? Doesn’t sound so nice when your reasoning doesn’t fit your narrative. Well, there was originally only one demand, and that was the official withdrawal of the extradition bill. Now that has happened, did it calm down the protests or stop the riots? Even by a little bit? No. So what makes you think complying with all 5 demands will do anything? But, to be fair, I agree with the investigation of police “brutality”. Whether they’re innocent or guilty, it must be proven in court. The resignation of Carrie Lam demand is also fine, I guess, Hong Kong is a democracy after all. For now at least. As for the release of the rioters and the retraction of the riot characterisation? The problem is they have no leaders to represent their movement to talk or make a dialogue to the government and they don't want to negotiate with the government. One of the 5 demands is a full amnesty of all arrested rioters no matter what crimes they've done, which for me is ridiculous. You break the law, vandalize and beat people and destroy properties atleast pay the price for what you did. They're fighting for the rule of law right?

The emergency powers is still valid to the extent permitted by the basic law art.39 which incorporates the Bill of Rights. You do realize that the anti-mask legislation was struck down because it was slightly too broad - the court did not preclude the possibility that certain sections of the anti-mask legislation might be constitutional right? You do realize if it was more narrowly drafted, it might have survived right? You do realize the court recognized that the anti-mask legislation did have a legitimate aim and was in furtherance of such aim right? stop demonizing the government and blowing out of proportions with the likely uninformed inferences that you make based off of the reports by mainstream media. It is difficult to say it is obviously, or clearly unconstitutional and you should not smear the government by saying they actively attempted to violate the constitution without more evidence. The judgment is accessible online - go read it for yourself. It is precisely this type of uninformed, ignorant, and exaggerated statement - by widespread media and the propaganda teams among rioters - that have continuously poisoned the minds of our youth and have engulfed the hong kong landscape in flames. The government has its wrongs, but it has not done anything to deliberately harm citizens. The unfortunate violence inflicted by a limited number of police (you must bear in mind that there are about 30,000 police officers in hong kong) is but an unfortunate incident to the carrying out of their duties to protect citizens. It is not acceptable but does not vitiate the fact that their purpose is to protect other citizens and maintain law and order. And they have been more than restrained - oftentimes holding their ground and just waiting for the rioters to disperse. Dont show me stock photos deliberately capturing the single moment in time when a gun might have been pointed at a rioter. Look at the totality of the footage - the hours and hours of footage of police just standing their holding the line and waiting for rioters to disperse. Conversely, these rioters are deliberately inflicting harm on the police, deliberately causing destruction to public and private property and sometimes going so far as to beat up people with different opinions from themselves. Stopping mtrs, disrupting traffic in extremely dangerous ways (e.g. no. 2 bridge at cuhk; cross harbour tunnel), blocking access to hospital in kowloon tong, the list goes on and on. How will these actions further your obtaining of the 5 demands? I see no rational connection. I only see rioters expensing their own irrational behavior on the livelihoods and safety of fellow hong kong citizens - did you consider their safety, their opinions - they never said they wanted to sacrifice for your cause. You rioters usurped their will and their voice. Further, I only see the provoking of the hong kong government and the chinese government to take a harder, more brutal stance and the extinguishment of all hopes that the one country, two system will continue past 2047. I dont know if the hong kong government or the chinese government will suppress and harm society in the future - but i do know, that these rioters have harmed society - physically and emotionally - already, have indirectly kicked out mainland residents residing in hong kong, beat up fellow citizens simply because of differing views. I can only conclude that, i did not know that democracy meant only having one group of people with same or similar opinions and that everyone else with differing opinions should either “go back to china” or immigrate elsewhere, but if this is truly what the rioters envision democracy and freedom to look like - i dont want it.
I have been following the happenings of the protest in Hong Kong only for a few days and have to tell you, young people, that I admire you! You are strong, brave and your group is so organized! You are smart enough to know what's at stake: the autonomy of your country. Although it’s 2019, the world is full of fear, anxiety, control, and violence. No government or country has the right to limit or disregard the self-determination of its people. Every person/nation has the right to make decisions. Anyone who limits this - whether it is a private individual or a government -, commits an abuse which is a sin and a crime at the same time. You, university students only lifted up your voice against the arbitrary repression of the police and China. You protested peacefully and held on for so long. When the government tried to manage the conflict by main force, trespassed to terrorize protesters, you stood up for yourself, for your country and for all the deprived people in the world. The government which uses force acts from fear. You are too young to experience war but you were willing to take risks so Hong Kong and the next generations will be proud of you! I feel calling them, "radicals" , is too ideologically skewed in using such a term. Whereas, very arguably they could be identified more accurately as merely defiant young, impassioned protesters so furious at all the previous disproportionate police abuse of force and seemingly rogue, unlawful state. These students have a rightful motive in defending a timely pathway towards a legitimate 2-system relationship with Mainland. They are naturally angry at the delays, perceived stalling tactics, excuses given for needing continued crackdowns and surely the apparent hints of a 1-system rule of law being the preconceived agenda . Hence, a Vicious cycle?? It's all very emotional but law is law. You are old enough to break it then you are old enough to be held responsible. Last time I checked the min. age for criminal responsibility in HK is 7. (7-14 generally considered incapable to commit crime unless proven beyond reasonable doubt). They all look older than 7 to me.
Some people claim that this proves that "one country, two systems" is a failure. But don't forget, this thing has been going on for half a year. The riots only occurred in Hong Kong and did not spread to other cities. Shenzhen is close to Hong Kong, and people's lives are as usual. In my opinion, this only proves that Hong Kong people have a poor ability to govern themselves. The "one country, two systems" function as a firewall, so that their failure can not drag more people into the water.
One system descends into chaos while the other remains humming along proves one country two systems does not work. For that to work, both systems need to work. Two diametrically opposed systems cannot work under one country with a unified sense of one people.

You can't ignore that police first surround people, then ask them to leave when they can't at all, and finally accuse them.
All this completed with troops of government agents sent under false names to overwhelm forums with posts spreading the gov position and denigrating people, justice, AND TRUTH.

These parents cant control their children and now pleading for mercy? How about that man they burnt, did they endow him with mercy? The rest of his life he may not be able to make a living to support his family. Are you parents going to support him and his family for the rest of his life? Not knowing how to re-act to the situation? They are the ones who started the chaos - throwing petrol bombs at the police when the police were just standing with the least protection, swallowing all the foul language insults from your children from the very beginning. These rioters escalated their attacks on the police and civilians first. So now the police is brutal and wrong to escalate their arrests? You should question those 2 million people who supported your children to do all these!!!
What a beautiful scene! It is better than watching a war movie!
This is not a movie, more like a show because it got many episodes.
The parents can"t blame police because they fails to teach theirs childs.
@@Evan250xxx Why.... ? Must be some reason to arrest this woman, they are not crazy and a lot of work.
Arrest their parent instead
Stop making excuses for your children. They are too young. 18+ is call young? They are adults and should able to face the repercussions of their actions. If they cannot distinguish between right and wrong, then it is also the parents fault for not educating them at home. I was working at 15 and have been contributing to the society and well-being of my family. Why cant these protestors do something more constructive like this? These people are truly brainwashed
Make their parents pay for all the damages caused by them.
In Hongkong : We must protest to goverment
In Aceh (Indonesia) : Put You Ak-47 Now!!
The riots need to pay back. What they did to other ppl is not acceptable. Well done HK gov.
why didn't it have caption saying that over a hundred under 18 kids were released unconditionally accompanied by high school principals? Again doesn't fit their narrative?
I don't think HK has enough jail space for all of them though
They do have cage homes tho, I suggest house arrest :D
Push them to mainland
House arrest do save money for the government, not for the guilty one tho.
LOL. Plenty of space in XinJiang, perfect for several years of patriotic educations they really need.
People walking:
Protestors and Police: Lets Play Pubg in the streets
It's funny how they act as if they were the victims. Very funny
Now you regret it? It's too late
There is always a choice HK students... They need to accept the responsibility of their choices, why are they crying about their choices? They are the ones who chose to do this, they are the ones who treated everyone this badly. "Simple" demands... They simply want a get out of jail free card. Universities need to teach humility to these kids.
Parents are saying, protesters doesn't know how to deal with this situation
Then why you people let them to protesting against law and order.
They thought about their childs safety while the time they cornered by police
Do you Thought it's a simple action to destroy Hongkong's harmony by throwing bombs and bricks
Honestly how do we know if those are actually students? Didn't the headmaster came and said most are not? Thugs pretending to be students?
They pretended to be doctor, accountant, banker, lawyer etc
In most of these cases, they are not students. I wish we all understand though, that these are rioters. They are not part of the protesters. Rioters destroy.
@@meganod279 I have absolutely no problem with the whole peaceful protest, but once it got hijacked to this violent bs! I know it is over for them!
@@uskiii8820
I also support this. That's why rioters should be eradicated so that the peaceful protests take place.
Before you fight for your so called freedom, learn how to be a responsible person first.
PolyU student: I am very scare very scare, come I’ll throw a bomb or fire arrows at you because i am scare
Most of them don't even attend that school...
I don't think 18 year olds entering university i.e. "big boy school" isn't "too young" lady..... They can think and talk in a humanely manner. And you treat them as if they're babies still 😂😂😂
I feel calling them, "radicals" , is too ideologically skewed in using such a term.
Very sadly the totally unnecessary chaotic standoff whereby a credible, fair concession process implemented months ago would have most likely yes, preempted all of this viciousness!
Peace and love to Hong Kong ✌
Finally someone in this comment section who is smart and empathetic.
How to be a regular citizen/contributor to society:
1. Graduate from hs/college
2. Find a job
3. Feed/support family
4. Pay taxes
5. Hang out with friends
Apparently majority of them dont know what comes after 1
I'll be generous to offer CCP a decent solution to the ongoing HK mess (Y'all welcome) :
*Macau declares general election* while HK won't get it until justice, national security & order is restored.
That's it. Now leaving everyone to a satisfied position. And HK learned a lesson as well.
No, this wont work. The rioters want no democracy, they want independence.
Enter PolyU, save the students? Dude, they are the one who barricaded themselves... they prepared the fight and war. What are you talking about..
Fire arrows like Robin Hood.
Flee like cockroach.
Dehumanizing a group of people is the psychology behind heinous war crimes and sociopathic killers.
Des Chan. 😂😂😂 i think we all knew from the beginning that was gonna happen.. The empty can rattles the most.
Put them all in Prison.
You should be put in prison for using android
@@machonakedcarp6668 Your father and mother uses android, put them all in prison.
It's all very emotional but law is law. You are old enough to break it then you are old enough to be held responsible.
Last time I checked the min. age for criminal responsibility in HK is 7. (7-14 generally considered incapable to commit crime unless proven beyond reasonable doubt).
They all look older than 7 to me.
guess what judge Dredd would do ...
Utter bs
One system descends into chaos while the other remains humming along proves one country two systems does not work. For that to work, both systems need to work. Two diametrically opposed systems cannot work under one country with a unified sense of one people.
How many of them wrote letters ready to die??? Could anyone remind me the number?
What they want is not simple. Lol
Disintegration will never be an option for any country out there you could ask.....
@PatG when you have the mainland china that also need to be dealt with then it's not simple.
@PatG when your country literally belongs to China, you think changing it will have any difference?
@@ChewK000 HK is not China, no one from HK identifies as Chinese, the only reason they are under Chinese rule is because Great Britain had to return the land, nothing more, nothing less.
@Shawn Li It's not against the law to protest, the only reason people are in arms is because the police is repressing what once was and still is in some parts peaceful protest.
People have the right to be upset if they can't show their discontent with the government for risk of getting jailed.
The whole world has alots of respect for the student of Hong Kong...Fight for what u beleive in...You guys are hero
You know, the real irony here, is that if I had a girlfriend, and she wanted to leave me, and although I forced her to stay for decades, at the end of the day when she's literally punching me, kicking me, cursing me, hitting me with bricks and throwing firebombs at me... I think common sense would eventually kick-in, and I'd let her go...
Totally analogy to use, shows you don’t understand the situation. A more suitable analogy would be you and your mother. Would you break relationship if you had an argument?
what if part of your girlfriend wants to leave to move in with a richer guy but the other part still in love with u and wants to stay ? lol
@@Vermilion2049 ...and clearly you live in mainland China and are brainwashed by state TV news. No, lol I clearly understand the situation, but thank you for the laugh!
@@yangyangpeng5279 LOL now there's some real conflict. I'd totally go see that movie :)
Nono, that’s not it. The story should be, your girlfriend wants to throw you out of your house so she can let in her new lover. And I am sure you rather to be a homeless.
cry as might as you can, for this is a very valuable and costly lesson that even the university can't teach you. everything has consequences.
if those parents don't want their kids to suffer more, they should've been in the front lines calling out to their children to stop. that's how you show responsibility as a parent.
Bravo, fighters! All I can do is to pray and watching via youtube and eating snacks and laughing out loud. Go on!
#FREE TIBET
NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW. I don't care what you are fighting for. There's other ways to go about it but destroying your city is not one of them. I hope every rioter that trashed this beautiful city HK goes to jail.
@Der Kafkaeske I don't care who, it doesn't justify breaking the law. Be better than that, the HK people should stand together in unity against these people instead of taking the anger out of people who don't share the same interest with them.
Continued prayers for Hong Kong.
