"Hi everyone, it's Henry here."

Yes finally an OSL that makes the whole technique seem attainable. This is something I have tried a few times and it never quite turns out but I'm excited to try these tips.
That orange is KILLER for volkite. Awesome video as always, Henry.
Love that you did a video on subtle osl. Whilst big osl can look cool when done really well I think it can sometimes detract. This was really helpful.
I was literally trying to find an osl video the other night. Wasnt happy with what i was finding (too much theory not enough practice). I was so happy to find this on my subscription feed the next morning and it did not disappoint! Thank you again so much Henry!
Would like to see you paint a black vehicle in your style. Maybe a tank or dreadnought for the Black Templars army project.

Fantastic.
3:45 some contrast paints from when they released the second wave act even more like inks that the rest. These are: Bad Moon Yellow, Imperial Fist, Magmadroth Flame, Baal Red, Doomfire Magenta, Leviathan Purple, Black Legion and Sigvald Burgundy.
I love your videos! They're always helpful and really grow my skills as a painter.
Appreciate the videos Henry. Looking forward to the kill team stuff!
Inspirational as always, thank you Henry
Fantastic tutorial Henry.
Thank you for saying folks go overboard with OSL!!
Love the toolbox videos, thank you so much!. They are such a good resource to develop skills with. 👍
I enjoyed this technique tool box video
well thought out and easy to follow, thanks Henry.
Amazing result ! ❤
What a great video, so many useful tips in there. Thanks so much.
Wonderful video! What blue contrast paints would you use in this technique to achieve a blue plasma look?
This is great mate, tried with an airbrush on some assault marine jump packs and did not look good and haven't tried since. Need to have another go.
Thanks for the video Henry!
Subscribed, liked, and shared to friends. Thanks for the great tutorials
I was wondering, there’s a scheme I can’t find nowhere on RUclips for the Aeldari Altansar. The scheme and color choices are pretty unique, especially for the farseer, and I would love to see your take on it, if it’s something you would be interested in trying.
its a great scheme. I did a very similar one on some Dark Eldar ages ago, might be worth a search.
Great tutorial! I’ve attempted this a few times now using watered down white and failed. Didn’t even think to use white ink 🤣
If you want some extra punch from a fluorescent paint, but don't like the tacky colors they com in, you can glaze over them with the color you do like. The fluorescent will be a little weaker, but still quite noticeable. I am looking for enough opacity so that I get the color I am looking for, but not su much that the punch from the fluorescent is mostly gone. Interesting but rewarding balance to achieve.
Just bought a pot of Tesseract Glow yesterday, its still a Technical, the label is in white now.
how about using flow improver on white acrylics? to have a similar effect to the white ink
@@stylnox yeah, and or gloss varnish. But idbhonrstly just get a white ink. It'll last forever.
The use of contrast paint here to achieve the effect is really interesting. I'm really surprised how well you can paint with contrast over straight black. I think the thing that's really missing from the video, which I see many people struggling with concerning OSL, is a bit hidden by working over black, though. Many people will paint a mini first and then try to add an OSL effect later. Those people will not work over black, and that often means that the "light" color they are adding actually makes that area darker than before. To make a thing like this work you have to plan ahead a bit before you start painting and leave the areas that will be lit by the OSL dark enough. You mention at the end that people should not worry too much about light theory and so on. But not thinking about it at all will lead to results that don't work as well as what you're showing here, even if they follow what you did exactly on their mini.
@@timooster280 what I've shown here really will work just fine over other colours. I've done exactly this on multiple painted minis. It's not perfect, but it's not meant to be. It's a start.
@@timooster280 I appreciate you taking the time to comment so thoroughly though. Thankyou.
Hi Henry! is there a chance we'll see Repentia/Arco-flagellants in the near future? I am just getting into Sisters and saw your video on them from a while ago. Surprisingly there are very few videos about painting the Repentia/Arco's. I've been kinda avoiding them as I haven't found a tutorial I've liked yet!
I don't think so. I did cover some in the Sisters of Battle combat patrol i painted up.
Would white oil paint thinned achieve a similar effect to the ink?
@@ShameyBaby yes absolutely
Cheers Henry
this is why i haven't painted my 3 big mek with shock attack guns, never attempted anything like this before
Hey I’m sure you guys have answered this somewhere but are you planning on doing any tutorials for the new LOTR miniatures?
@@Alexander-d6z6g yes. Probably. If I can figure out a good video for them! Love the minis and will definitely be picking them up.
Hi Henry, I tried the white ink (I bought a bottle of the Daler Rowney) and mine doesn't seem to be as thin, was yours watered down or thinned at all before applying it? Mine seems to give a solid white coverage all over.
@@robboozecruise2140 yes mate thin it down with water like a "normal" paint
Lads my oil washes have started to dry with a glossy finish. Any ideas why? Haven’t changed anything that I can think of
not a clue. You havent changed anything?
@@cultofpaint honestly not that I can think of. Still using W&N thinner and the same oils. I’ll triple check other variables even the brushes and little tins that I was mixing on but they’re all freshly cleaned as well. Thanks for confirming my puzzlement! 😅
I don’t have contrast paint. If I thin down Vallejo model color with water, can I achieve a similar effect?
@@travisbicker6456 yes but it won't be as strong if a colour
Why not use a white oil paint wash?
@@GoranMucic acrylic dries quicker. but you absolutely could as it has many of the properties we're after.
sorry to bother but what 3 contrasts would you recommend using for a blue plasma glow?
Can someone tell me what puttie this is where the Plasma Rifle is sticking in?

Hey Henry, I have a little question about my tremor. Can you give me some advice on how to paint with my tremor.
I have heard using rubber bands can help as it steadies the unwanted movements by restricting you. Something like having a band around your wrist and connecting it to the brush handle but I don't have experience using that myself.
Black magaic has a video here going over painting with tremors if that's helpful ruclips.net/video/lyhDhQZDlNk/видео.htmlfeature=shared
I know jeremy from black magic craft has something in that area and has done a video on it...
@@JWbrasser I tried posting the link to that video but pretty sure it won't work in the comments. It's easy to find if you just search up Black magic and shakes
@@JWbrasser this was what I was going to suggest. Points of contact help steady yourself when painting, but I don't have much experience of dealing with this challenge. A very good mate does though, I will ask him.
Stupid question but what is OSL?
