My personal analysis of the date(this is long): At the start of the date, he sits apart from her because he's both shy and unsure how she feels about zack right now. Yet at the first sign of possible danger, his first instinct is to move her out of the way of it(similar to when theyre falling at the end of chapter 13 and his first instinct is to pull her in close and take the full force of the fall himself). After getting so close that they were mere inches away from kissing, both of them get very shy and sit down. However, they are visibly closer than when the date started. They start having fun, but aerith can see that something is still keeping cloud from being fully in the moment. She can tell he's probably thinking about her and zack. Knowing this, she tells him that his similarity to zack was what peaked her interest, but also reassures him that that's not why she's with him now and that she's happy with him now. She tells him that she's trying to find him(don't let this distract you from the fact that cloud acts less and less like his soldier persona when around aerith due to liking her, relating to her, and her natural ability to break down his barriers). Cloud starts to bring up zack again, but aerith tells him tifa didn't tell her anything as a way to keep this *their* moment. You can see he's trying to think what to do next in that moment. That's when aerith gets in close to him and hugs his arm, sharing a sweet moment. He then holds her hand, which is extremely meaningful(and frankly, more intimate than the kiss with tifa) because he's had a fear of rejection ever since he was a kid, and he's carried them with him into his adulthood. He definitely wanted to be closer to aerith earlier in the date, but an action involving that level of vulnerability to hold hands with aerith like that is scary for him since he has this fear of rejection. But he allowed himself to be vulnerable with her and actually took the step of holding her hand, showing her that he truly cares for her deeply(loves her). He turns to her with what I consider a very vulnerable look, and she responds by reciprocating and holding his hand back. A few moments later, they hold hands tighter. My favorite thing about this date is the vulnerability we see from both cloud and aerith
Plus, the hand holding is known as koibito tsunagi in Japan. This means "lovers tie." It is extremely intimate and shows a deep connection when two people hold hands with fingers intertwined. The fact that Clerith does this multiple times makes it much deeper and more significant than one might think.

The Tifa date and Aerith date are intimate in different ways - the former being in the sense of lovers where there's that mutual affirmation of romantic feelings. Of course, with Zack in the shadows of the Aerith date, a kiss was not going to happen, nor an affirmation of feelings on Cloud's part - if he was in love with Aerith. But in the full game's context where he purposefully goes against "dating" Aerith with his comments and body language (her pulling him around all the time, and him even saying on their beach side quest before he recalls Zack, "I really wish you wouldn't [treat this job as a date]"), Cloud is not romantically pursuing Aerith. Imo.

I know Cloti’s won’t shut up about the kiss but the tsundere behavior for us to eventually have the kiss payoff in the next game is way more rife with tension. I loved this scene

It is interesting how CloTi's disregard the whole beginning of this part of their date with Cloud being sad about the possibility of Aerith still liking Zack and the lack of a close up of their kiss. If I was a CloTi I wouldn't be very happy with the date because the fan service was way too obvious and, in my opinion, kind of lazy.
@@Guy9998 consider also that they said they knew a lot of fans wanted to see them kiss and they figured the technology made it possible to show it BUT that these are all effectively fan service separate from the main story. Ask yourself, why would they make a point about showing the kiss in a scene completely removed from the main story if they could have waited and shown it in the part 3 main story? Maybe because they won't.

Man, the buildup to and then this scene is so good. Cloud was so ready for this moment their first trip to the Saucer but, with everything that happened since their first date, we finally get to this moment and he’s shut down, trying so hard not to mess up again. And the payoff is even better. To borrow Aruuu’s phrase: “It’s such peak writing.” I’m really glad it’s gained the traction it deserves.

This is beautiful, innocent. Pure oxytocin. It's the kind of love that people experience the first time they fall in love as well as when they are elderly, if one is lucky enough to love someone with such care and and understanding for that long. It's rare that normal adults find this kind of endearing connection that isn't based strictly on trauma bonding or impeding tragedy. Genuine wisdom and desire to bring each other happiness. Of course in this case Aerith, though she may not remember how this ends - still embraces this moment as if it were the last one they are about to share. I believe Cloud's feelings, had he been able to tell, would've been more direct, as he can hardly deny them beyond the point of no return. If only the point of no return would've been their lips touching as well as fingers being intertwined.

This date was everything to me 🥺 soo cute. I was sobbing and weeping by the end of it, my bf came in immediately after knowing I'd be a wreck from that scene because of how much I love Aerith 😭 I know cloti got the kiss but I couldn't help but feel Aerith's date was still more romantic and sweet? The date was peak cinema, and how the devs focused on keeping it loyal to the OG was perfection. I don't think there is a comparison to the Tifa date in terms of overall romance, I mean Cloud brought up Aerith during her date...that whole portion of it was...oof lol
Its always so nice to watch others play the game that have the same romantic/shipping interests! I've loved Clerith since day one of playing the remake series and Aerith is one of my favorite FF characters (havent played the OG myself yet, but I've watched playthroughs) As a western fan of the series, I struggle sometimes to find others who enjoy Clerith in the way I do amongst the western fanbase. I feel a bit outnumbered sometimes, so it's always so refreshing to be reminded that there are others out there that love this ship in the way that I do ❤️❤️
I can understand what your feeling, but what I've discovered since Rebirth launched is that there are tons of cleriths out there, and many more are coming out and being vocal which is amazing. My goal is to help with that by bringing more clerith content to the mix.
I think it's funny how Aerith lurched towards Cloud during the space fight. I mean, the gongola isn't spinning at that point and it's all a projected image anyway

During the playthrough in Remake, Aerith keeps saying to Cloud that she doesn't need protection. Yet the first thing she does is seek protection and cover from that boy.
She's appealing to him on a level he instinctively understands. Remember, there's a certain amount of awkwardness coming into this after the Gongaga conversation, which she handles (kills) beautifully.

This is beautiful, innocent. Pure oxytocin. It's the kind of love that people experience the first time they fall in love as well as when they are elderly, if one is lucky enough to love someone with such care and and understanding for that long. It's rare that normal adults find this kind of endearing connection that isn't based strictly on trauma bonding or impeding tragedy. Genuine wisdom and desire to bring each other happiness.
Of course in this case Aerith, though she may not remember how this ends - still embraces this moment as if it were the last one they are about to share. I believe Cloud's feelings, had he been able to tell, would've been more direct, as he can hardly deny them beyond the point of no return. If only the point of no return would've been their lips touching as well as fingers being intertwined.
Beautifully said, I do believe that point where their lips will touch will occur in part 3. I'm fully confident and know it will be very much passionate.

This date was everything to me 🥺 soo cute. I was sobbing and weeping by the end of it, my bf came in immediately after knowing I'd be a wreck from that scene because of how much I love Aerith 😭 I know cloti got the kiss but I couldn't help but feel Aerith's date was still more romantic and sweet? Especially with how Cloud seems disappointed about Zack and Aerith and just kinda leaves Tifa hanging at the end but with Aerith's he holds his hand out to her to help her get out of the gondola. i love them
The date was peak cinema, and how the devs focused on keeping it loyal to the OG was perfection. I don't think there is a comparison to the Tifa date in terms of overall romance, I mean Cloud brought up Aerith during her date...that whole portion of it was...oof lol

Its always so nice to watch others play the game that have the same romantic/shipping interests! I've loved Clerith since day one of playing the remake series and Aerith is one of my favorite FF characters (havent played the OG myself yet, but I've watched playthroughs) As a western fan of the series, I struggle sometimes to find others who enjoy Clerith in the way I do amongst the western fanbase. I feel a bit outnumbered sometimes, so it's always so refreshing to be reminded that there are others out there that love this ship in the way that I do ❤️❤️
I can understand what your feeling, but what I've discovered since Rebirth launched is that there are tons of cleriths out there, and many more are coming out and being vocal which is amazing. My goal is to help with that by bringing more clerith content to the mix.

Jade leans Clerith for sure, but no matter what you ship or prefer, you don't have to be overly vocal about it. Everyone goes about these things in their own way

During the playthrough in Remake, Aerith keeps saying to Cloud that she doesn't need protection. Yet the first thing she does is seek protection and cover from that boy.
Aerith doesn't expect any protection from Cloud. He is the one who gives it to her, whether she wants it or not
She's appealing to him on a level he instinctively understands. Remember, there's a certain amount of awkwardness coming into this after the Gongaga conversation, which she handles (kills) beautifully.
