And though i completely understand and (mostly) agree with the typical compliant towards modern NBA - I have actually become even more intrigued by the changing gameplay. Obviously, can only speak for me. Entertainment is subjective within itself. However, game rules and structure should adapt slowly and surely. That could be my Programs experience within job opportunities. Really, the biggest doubt i have is one that reflects modern society if anything. Which is: More recent players seem to value corporate/financial gain more than legacy perception and career-based accomplishments. *That* is my biggest concern, not f'n threes.
The NBA is a business more than ever. The players are also a business more than ever. Think about it… historically, on the whole, who has the longest careers? 3-point shooters and players who play close to the ground. You can’t knock the players . They’re getting PAID and how do they extend their career? Playing out and playing close to the ground. This is why teams are protecting their investments and players are watching out for their career. We would all do the same if we were in the same position.
Effort is what's missing from the All-Star game ESPECIALLY defensively. The players just don't care enough anymore. They don't play like it's an honor to be selected and give their best effort for the people whos votes got them there. There was nothing wrong with the traditional East-West format imo.
They got to understand that players get foul calls by even lookin too hard at a player. They took all the physicality out basketball its disgusting how soft the nba is now
Most of the players come in out of shape, so they get hurt easier. The league is a pick up game. Boring to watch everyone shooting threes. The Euro players are boring and clumsy...no mid range shot or big man dominance. Forget defense and the season is too long. 7 games for every playoff game is dumb The 5-5-7-7 format was perfect. Women's game plays classic basketball. Which is why their popularity is growing.
The players make too much money to play hard. Back in the players had to play harder because the pay was so low. Some players worked another job in the off season just to make ends meet, back in the day. Today these contracts are so bloated the players are comfortable taking it easy until the playoffs. They’ll even take a few nights and fake injuries because the contracts cover the lifestyle.
He can’t really help it. He’s hurt. He didn’t hold a gun to anyone’s head and make them give him the money. They offered it to him and he took it. What else was he supposed to do?
30 points is nothing in the g league when it comes to getting in the league. You have to be killing on a consistent basis. Great that he’s making a push now.
whats wrong with the NbA is that while players have progressed offensively the NBa has crippled what guys can do defensively. ticky tack fouls, “illegal defense” , no hand check…all of these things lets the offensive player do whatever tf they want without the ability to actually be contested. in turn the game has suffered, i believe
I don’t think these folks are hitting the mark: 1. Overall competitiveness is down(these guys are buddies). 2. They get paid a ton so not “hungry” in terms of proving themselves. 3. Game play of to many 3’s and rules that put the defender at a complete disadvantage. But overall, it’s the lack of drive toward wanting to be the best. This culture values money above all else, and these guys are paid so what’s the point…(that’s the mentality, seemingly).
Usually around Xmas the casuals watch only hardcore since Game 1 ..... MLB & NFL are mostly taking up the time...After Feb that over.....They need rule change in place so no more sitting if they are not injured ....players shouldn't get fined it there no family emergency or real injury ......Also make college to pros move year to 2 for more development

People don’t actually pay attention to the $$ involved. NBA just TRIPLED their TV deal, the franchises are now worth BILLIONS instead of millions, and players are about to be making 70-100 million a year The league is extremely popular overseas. And is better and healthier $$ wise than it’s ever been
That’s true, however, people do not really sit and watch full NBA games anymore. It’s just a simple truth. No one is saying that the NBA is going out of business.
Why? Shooting threes has been a part of pro basketball since 1979. Why wasn’t this a problem when Reggie Miller was playing? Why did no one care when Terry Porter was drilling 3s? I’m genuinely curious why it’s a problem now.
TOO MANY THREES, REFS NOT LETTING PLAYERS PLAY THOUGH ROUGH SCENARIOS. THEY ALSO NEED MORE FLARE TO THE GAME LIKE Allen iverson, Jason williams, Vince carter, Nick van Exel. It just looks like a bunch of rich kids playing. its lost the aggressive competative vibe. And too many trades, no rivalries anymore
And money is the issue. Cause if you getting money, you don’t care about the game after that. No one wants to be a basketball player. They want to make money and do everything except be a basketball player.
Everybody talking about threes when it don’t have NOTHING to do with that. Cable is killing the NBA!!!! It’s really because you have to have cable to watch the games and nobody trying to pay $200+ per month for cable. If ESPN had their own streaming app (not ESPN+ bs) that showed the games and TNT that didn’t require sign in with a tv provider I’d be happy to pay 15/month for it. Until then f*ck them games 🤷🏽♂️

They play like dudes at la fitness play. Then nerds moneyballed the game and calculated that its better in the long run to take a bunch of bad 3s than higher percentage 2s

I have actually become even more intrigued by the changing gameplay.
They need me for the basketball segments
Man these guys haven’t put out an episode in 6 days.
Yall need to keep it hip hop dont divert. Sports takes be crazy.
Everybody afraid to mention analytics. They’ll say oh the 3pt shot and layups but that’s the result of forced analytics
The focus on analytics
Effort is what's missing from the All-Star game ESPECIALLY defensively. The players just don't care enough anymore. They don't play like it's an honor to be selected and give their best effort for the people whos votes got them there. There was nothing wrong with the traditional East-West format imo.
No format will change the NBA or the All Star game.. it’s the players
They got to understand that players get foul calls by even lookin too hard at a player. They took all the physicality out basketball its disgusting how soft the nba is now
Bro he shot 20x to get 30 thats NOT shooting good
Most of the players come in out of shape, so they get hurt easier. The league is a pick up game. Boring to watch everyone shooting threes. The Euro players are boring and clumsy...no mid range shot or big man dominance. Forget defense and the season is too long. 7 games for every playoff game is dumb
The 5-5-7-7 format was perfect. Women's game plays classic basketball. Which is why their popularity is growing.
Simple fix. Get rid of the 3 point line and cut back on the amount of games every season. But they won’t do it.
NBA is over we need a new sport.
So we are not going to mention Kawhi Leonard making all that money and not even playing.....
Right why he was not added to a actual roster with more than a few people that could actually play . He more like a brand not a hopper
Nah that's a false g league is actually a competitive league that's a false claim
@ your agreeing with my point. That’s what I’m saying. The players there are killers. You have to really be killing it to make it up.
The top scoring teams come from the 80’:
whats wrong with the NbA is that while players have progressed offensively the NBa has crippled what guys can do defensively. ticky tack fouls, “illegal defense” , no hand check…all of these things lets the offensive player do whatever tf they want without the ability to actually be contested. in turn the game has suffered, i believe
The NBA stars (not superstars) of today are not as polarizing as the NBA stars of the 90’s 00’s, & 2010’s.
Bring back the 3 and 4.
Quit self hate and resolve ego pain/hurts to heal. Learn psychology to understand the process of recovery.
I don’t think these folks are hitting the mark:
NBA is no longer a game it’s a contest
This is so awesome, never get tired of watching your posts.

Why are the hoodies 125? wtf?
Usually around Xmas the casuals watch only hardcore since Game 1
..... MLB & NFL are mostly taking up the time...After Feb that over.....They need rule change in place so no more sitting if they are not injured ....players shouldn't get fined it there no family emergency or real injury ......Also make college to pros move year to 2 for more development
why the would i shoot a risky 16ft shot, instead of dunkin or shooting a 3?
If bronny skips with one leg 🦵 across the court the fans go wild 😂
I’m not gonna lie. I enjoy the rest of the podcast company, but I truly come here for Joe. When is Joe coming back? I literally am uninterested until he comes back.
I just feel everyone personality is too melo/monotone & that includes delivery. I need Joe’s energy!
And what makes the show more special for me is he is in a sense a “failed rapper”. Seeing his turn around and relevancy is amazing every time he drops.
What shoes is queenzflip wearing?
Basketball has been metagamed to death. It happens to all games eventually.
We say this but when a player like JA gets chippy. Then mfs be saying he needs to be humbled. Or the classic when a championship first before you talk! 🤷🏿♂️
Bronny had a good game. A singular good game.
Did they ever say who put hands on parks eye?? Hope it wasnt his wife lol
WE DONE WITH THE 90s
I think the traveling and fact 7ft guys like Giannis and Joel you can't even touch them and it's a foul, makes it weak to watch.
They need to let Draymond Cook!
Stop 🛑 hating the casual fans is who is paying these players salary the game is for our entertainment so we do have a say no matter how un athletic we are
People don’t actually pay attention to the $$ involved. NBA just TRIPLED their TV deal, the franchises are now worth BILLIONS instead of millions, and players are about to be making 70-100 million a year
The league is extremely popular overseas. And is better and healthier $$ wise than it’s ever been
That’s true, however, people do not really sit and watch full NBA games anymore. It’s just a simple truth. No one is saying that the NBA is going out of business.
where joe at?
So Ice puts on a blue hat and he’s in charge 😂
Im surprised nobody is mentioning that the NBA owns Fan Duel and its all a scam now.
I stopped taking the sports segments on this pod seriously when Ish said Bill Russell and Dr. J played in the same era and nobody challenged it.
Nothing is wrong. The new TV deal is next year!
The JBP better without Joe is wild work
If most of the players dont care why should the fans
2016 was the last good NBA season.
Every team think they have shooter yes the game pace is fast bt mf ain’t jus shooting n mf face over every 3 n that’s the problem
They play too much AAU ball...bigs think they are guards
I can't be the only person who doesn't wanna hear this group talk sports.
We need some American hood ninjas! 🏀💪🏽
Stop shooting threes
Lebrun & Adam killed the nba
Too much euro ball ...in attempt to whiten the game up they changed the rules to reduce defensive effort.
And money is the issue. Cause if you getting money, you don’t care about the game after that. No one wants to be a basketball player. They want to make money and do everything except be a basketball player.
Dude!! No pod for one week, the regulars get nothing!!
Haven't watched since Kobe's last game...
Aau!!!! Spot on!!!
Too much shooting 3s in today’s game, gets boring watching every team do the same shit. On top of that viewership is down because each team is signing exclusive deals locking local fans out of games without a subscription. Oh and player management…the nba currently has the worst commish too lol.
They play like dudes at la fitness play. Then nerds moneyballed the game and calculated that its better in the long run to take a bunch of bad 3s than higher percentage 2s
Everyone plays the same
The style of play changed who cares it’s still dunking and post moves going on. I can guarantee you these mfs don’t have league pass and don’t watch some of the good games that’s been on this year. Also the new faces of the league SGA Tatum Ant Giannis etc are all a joy to watch. Embrace the change people are more skilled. The 90s and 2000s are gone. Just don’t watch the sport if it bothers that much.
