Mike :)
Yet another brilliant lesson. Thank you!
Cheers Andy! 🙏🏻👊🏻
Learnt this after 20 minutes of practicing, thanks to your emphasis on feeling the beat rather than counting.
Thank you and subscribed to the channel :)
Awesome video Mike. I much prefer these longer lessons and the detail that you can get into.
Blows my mind with the speed and rhythms you come up with .......one day I might get close 🙂
Improvement zone FTW! Just keep going man! Cheers Alan.
This is helping me a lot. I couldn't nail this in a groove, now I can do it (although a bit sloppy) at a fast tempo. Just need some more practice.
This really helped me improve thank you!!
Eureka. ...took me two day's..have finally worked out how to play sextuplets!!!! thank you 😅
Cool!
Thank you for taking my request.
Subbed!!! Great lesson
sooo cool. thank you!!
👊🏻
Quick question when you refer to certain rudiments to what grade level they are. I get that rudiments should be built on moving up thru the grades, but do they actually ask you play the rudiments in exams? Love the channel dude
Hi Amish, thanks for watching. In Trinity Drum Kit exams, which I generally use as the baseline, rudiments are introduced at different grade levels. The rudiments for that Grade (and previous grades) are performed in the exams in the form of the "exercises" (here's one from Grade 3 for example: ruclips.net/video/1_sKMKXnjZg/видео.html). These are short pieces of music that incorporate the rudiments in musical ways and allow the student to develop and demonstrate their skills working with those rudiments.

Cheers!
@@MikeBarnesDrums ah ok, it's not from the rock and pop series that's where I was confused. Dunno if it's been done yet, I haven't seen it but a video showing a mock exam would be really cool, like a walk thru of what happens on the day. Whether it's improv/playback and the play through of the songs. Just an idea. Keep up the great work 👍
@@amishwes1493 My advice: learn the rudiments whatever syllabus you're doing! Invaluable IMO and I get all my students doing that.
Yes there are videos of that nature (exam walk-through) on the Trinity website I believe :)
Is it useful to practise these in 6/8 or just 4/4?
Definitely start in 4/4. Why 6/8 specifically as an alternative? Remember sextuplets are six evenly phrased notes across one quarter note (crotchet) - they have no connection to the 6 in 6/8, which refers to the 6 beats of the bar.
Can the sticking be played like a para diddle diddle
Sextuplets can be played with a wide variety of stickings, including the paradiddle diddle: ruclips.net/video/JBVBf0RCfL0/видео.html&pp=ygUjbWlrZSBiYXJuZXMgZHJ1bXMgcGFyYWRpZGRsZSBkaWRkbGU%3D

What does that kit sound like without the electronics? :O
Like practice pads!
