My daughter came home from school one day and asked me for £1000 to go on a geography field trip to Iceland , I told her to go to ALDI like everyone else .
Pushing it with the blanket bit i think. Cheaper/quicker and better quality if you knock your own together. But i appreciate yet another honest review, showing me what to avoid. Thank you.
I appreciate the fact you do these review's as it saves me a fortune! As for not having a Lidl nearby, I wouldn't worry as it's a lot of the same foods and brands as Aldi and in terms of cost, it's literally pence difference (if that)
My Neice works untill 7 some nights with her own business has 2 small children and yes she does make lots of meals as she is vegetarians and has to cope with everyone's taste.
Gareth, please don't worry about exposing complete rip off products, Cathedral City seem to be masters at it..£3.50 for that, Wow, Shocking...Most of us, I presume, are disgusted as I think you are with what we're getting mate...🧐👍🏻 Love the channel..
£3.50 for one toastie that needs cooking is extortionate. If it were sold from a wayside truck stop, already cooked ready to go, then yes. But frozen and needs cooking, no way. 2 lices of bread = 20p, three sausages and bacon = 80p, 100g cheese = £1, onion = 30p, sauce = 20p total £2.50 max
There is a book out called : 'Ultra Processed People' and it is all about the food supply being overly processed. You may well have come across it !@@seanoconnor1984
I DO appreciate Iceland’s special prices for the over sixties on tuesdays, and I DO go in and look round. The downside is, that there are so so many “deals” if you buy three of something. And if you haven’t much to spend, live alone, and don’t have a freezer......you can’t do it. And buying just ONE, is a significantly higher price. Often, I walk in, walk round, and walk out......with no purchase, because I can’t afford it.
No value for money with that. As you say it's that time of the year, it's when companies think they can package anything, stick a bit of holly on the front and we will buy it, they certainly got it wrong with this bit of cheese on toast.
*Piglets* in *threads*, maybe! It's more encouragement to make your own version, much better, at better value for money. Please let us know what Mrs M thinks of them.🙂
The one supermarket in the country where you are guaranteed to walk out crying. Either from the extortionate prices or at the fact you actually found a deal.
You DON'T have to shop at Iceland, you know! ... Vote with your wallet, and give your brass to Aldi instead! ... Although even Aldi are getting ever-more expensive these days!
To top off the prices being a massive rip off, I'm told via my brother that their online ordering system is in a mess with discounts not being applied properly and other shenanigans. Anyway, a recommendation for something NEW I had from Tesco yesterday - Acahri Style Salmon fillets with Spicy Potatoes Absolutely bangin', as they say. Best thing I've had from a supermarket in months.
Perfect beer snack and lets be honest you'd have to be a few pints in to think that £3.50 for a sandwich was any sort of a bargain. Was in Iceland yesterday - 3 staff and me, get the feeling they may be joining Wilko soon.
Your so right with cathedral city, all gimmicks. It’s amazing what you can put together for half the price I’m waiting on the cathedral city Christmas pud . Thanks for the review ❤
I was in Iceland today and I couldn't believe their prices and "deals"....I do love Cathedral City cheese the best though but won't be trying those toasties ❤
Deal Day: - I just happened to be in Iceland on Tuesday. When I got to the till the cashier asked how old I was and gave me a discount because I was over 60. Unexpected, but very welcome!
Great review Gaz I made my mind up when you opened the sandwich and that white gunk in the middle, then laughed at the three weans in a big sandwich then you had to cremate, it to get them hot 🤦♂️🤦♂️ cathedral city cheese should stick to cheese and drop the price thanks for your time making theses videos instead off decorating 🤣👏👏👍👍
Since we unfortunate Aussies are deprived of CC products, I'll have to make this one myself 👍😉 2 Slices of sourdough bread. Dijon mustard mayo. A good quality melting cheese. Fried shallots. A cupl'a slices of streaker bacon. And.... a handful of cooked pork chipolata's... That should do it! Good luck with the renos Gareth. Don't forget the Frog Tape when painting. Cheers 👍
Evening Gareth! Looks good, poorly constructed and v.expensive (again!) as one of your contributors has worked out, it also looks v.tasty, especially when 'built' from scratch. I live by myself (no shame me!) but too tight to buy one of these things. Thanks from us all for the 'autopsy' - essential in this case and likely a great many more food items. VBW x
Product looked very tasty the way you cooked them. The price was extortionate. Great that you opened up the culinary beast to reveal its innards. Might as well make them yourselves. Save yourself loads of money !
Couldn't justify spending nearly $6 Canadian for that. Iceland should change their name to 'I saw you coming'. Last time I was in the UK had a Lidl next door to me, it was a stretch to spend £20 a week. 2kg of chicken wings were £1.99 at the time, unheard of here. Keep up the reviews pal.
Who would pay £3.50 for a toasted sambo that takes another half hour to cook? Even if it was stuffed with pigs in blankets. I consider your wonderful video A WARNING. Thanks for that Gaz. 👍
That's a disgrace that asking £3.50 for that. Too expensive and some supermarkets are taking us for mugs. No wonder folk are overweight eating this. I wish that Cathedral City would just stick to making cheese.
Hi Gareth , see you saved the best job for your wife … scraping wallpaper 🤦🏻♀️😂… I hate that job ‼️. Well the best thing I can say about this is it looked good on the packet ‼️
@LoisGriffin8 I've seen what you put on his comments. You don't need to suck his thumb he's great at doing that for himself. I would have told him that after his angry and inaccurate rant about me, but he's blocked my right to reply, something he himself moaned about not that long ago in another of his angry videos, anyway have a great rest of your day 👍
Hi I bought a Muller Rice from SPAR about month ago, half of it had mold.....Never said on the packaging may contain mold, never took it back it was late and they were closed.
As gimmicks go, I always wonder why fish and chip shops across the country don't do battered pigs in blankets. Or do they,? 🤔 That would be a gimmick I'd gladly part money with 😂 Great video
Pigs in blankets? Piglets in hankies, from the size of them! And three and a half quid plus half an hour’s worth of electricity! You are right, it’s a gimmick for Christmas (Merry October?). Cathedral City should stick to what they are good at, and that’s cheese. 🧀
Oh i went to Iceland today got some shopping I saw them in the freezer and thought what a rip off I seen it all now cheese on toast with pigs in blankets in you could do that at home for less if you wanted one it's like a party sausage with a bit of bacon on and the were only 3 pigs in blankets in the cheese on toast I wouldn't buy anything like that .I wonder what the company is going to make up next cheese on toast with bacon on love fran keep up the gòd work Gareth

So 65c is about 149f which is not done. However, I noticed the tip of the probe was sticking out the other end which would give you a false reading. I think the probe is fine. Boil some water and stick the probe in. If it reads 100c/212f, the probe is good to go.
I've said before, the best Cathedral City product I tried was the mini pizzas, two in a pack. They were in store for a week or two, then they disappeared and never came back.
I like cathedral cheese as cheese on toast or in a ham sandwich with salad and Branston pickle 😋 this product sounds very interesting I've never have thought of adding cheese to yummy pigs in blankets Basically its a dead pig hugging a porcine corpse 😂😂😂
The start of the Christmas gimmicky foods hitting the shelves....like the idea, but in reality the cheese looks odd. Look forward to more Christmassy reviews 👍
Chipolata sausage. Now I'm not sure which company made this. But I'm almost sure one of the big companies made a Xmas dinner flavoured pizza. Was last year or the year before.
Gareth the pigs in blankets are pre-cooked mate. The fact you can do them in the microwave proves that - should just be a case of reheating them up. Gonna give these a go - what I can't work out is the pricing as the normal cheese one is the same price when it should be at least a quid cheaper. Think they are both 3 for £10.
I know these are designed for convenience but you could make 10 of these in half an hour and stick em in the freezer for the same price. I wouldn't worry too much about the sausages - they will have almost certainly been cooked before they were frozen so it's not going to hurt you but obviously you want them to be warm.

Hi Gareth, By the look of that pig in blankets more like piglets in pillow case. a bit tight on the sausage and bacon. I bet it still taste nice by what you think of it and the price I might give it a miss , although I do like Cathedral City cheese. great video ,take care👍
Hi Gareth, May have been better giving it a quick zuzz in the microwave. I have bought these a few times and they do make quite a good quick lunch if you are in a rush! The cheeezeee and ham version are quite good too, whack a dollop of ketchup in those! Great job! 😉
Sounds like another one to avoid, but thanks Gareth. Brave man trying these things out for us. 😆My wife said when you mentioned the price that you can get a lot of sausages in bacon and cheese for that price.
Cocktail sausages (or "tiny todgers") has a variety of uses as long as it's not in actual cocktails, some "tt's" into a tomato sauce with some spaghetti, almost a premade dinner. 😊🍻
I agree cooking this in the oven for 30 minutes uses up so much gas when surely the idea is it's a quick snack. And it is a gimmick, would rather buy separate ingredients & add my own quantity in.However has made me want a toastie sandwich, cheese toasty here I come....
I had one of these n was hardly any pigs in blankets in! But lots of cheese far too much! Also salty as you say! The cathedral range toasties are loaded with far too much cheese! That is daylight robbery. 3 poxy little cocktail sausages for £3.50.
For about £8 you can buy all the ingredients (bread, cheese, sausages, streaky bacon) and make about 10 of these
Yes lol
Yes you can with most ready food if you have the time and not sat around all day and not working and looking after children

Shocking quantity of sausage for £3.50
I would have to agree and minimal bacon by the looks.
Absolutely! I'd understand a bit more if you got two sandwiches, but just one with three cocktail sausages dotted inside is completely ridiculous.
Excellent review, so truthful as usual, many thanks Gaz.
