With two servos and dual aileron setup Spektrum wisely chose to allow you to mix to either right aileron or left aileron. Either mix will control both ailerons. The difference is in the direction of mix. If you use the left aileron the ailerons will move in the same direction. If you use the right aileron the ailerons will move in opposite directions.

Great video guy's. Finally got this one. Set it up with Flaperons / Spoilerons. No AS3X or SAFE. Love this thing. The High Alpha landings that the Spoilerons create are magic.
GREAT! She's a fun plane - I only wish and think this plane should have been STOCK with flapperons - It MAKES the plane.

The updated version of the landing gear is part # EFL0373. $7.99 from HH. Glad you put a buying link in the description. If anyone is looking for the gear, make sure it is the correct part number, like what is in the link in video description. I ordered 3 sets of the updated version a few weeks ago, when they first came out. I haven’t broken any so far, which is almost a miracle considering I have a clay runway with alfalfa stubble around it and even greasy landings were breaking the old stiff gear if I wandered too far off the edge. I’m trucking in sand and planting golf course putting green grass(pennco creeping bentgrass) on it this fall in hopes of being able to fly umx and jets without asphalt or concrete. Annoyingly enough, the SUS landing gear has been more troublesome than any other aircraft I have been flying, and lead to my decision to plant the golf course grass. The updated gear is a must have for everyone.

We're just getting into the dry season here, but it's already been another drought year too around here. Spring was nice, but then it only rained about maybe 6-7 times since. We could use some more too, but I gotta admit, I don't like all the skeeters that come with rain!!!

AWESOME!!! Sorry we had this "in the can" for a long time, but the SUS was out of stock, and we don't like to torture out audience with "mods" to a plane that can't be bought. We may have done that back in the day, but we got so much hate for it, so we repented - LOL ;)

It really is amazing! I love flying is SLOW!!! In my humble opinion, this SHOULD have been the stock configuration - I.E. SUS - SLOW Ultra Stick ;) But, even still, at least it can be done without too much effort.
It’s kind of like a sketch of a plane flying in a real sky! And you could definitely spray the peaceful field with it-
LOL - I could ;) that would be so much fun. My PPG trainer has a Spraying Drone...you know, the kind that are as big as a trailer ;) That would be AWESOME!

Love your videos. There very informative, but long. Have you considered indexing, the thing that lets watcher jump to a certain section? Interested to know what settings you have for you AS3X, and safe, if its not in here somewhere. Watching......again.
We did it for a while, but thousands of videos...and not enough time to get that huge project done.

Totally agree - Flapperons MAKE this a SLOW Ultra Stick. I liked it before, but LOVE it now! Should have been factory installed, in my opinion, but since we CAN do it, I'm very happy that we did!!! She is a whole new plane.
I can't remember if I talked about the C switch FLIPPING the flapperons into spoilerons, so you can fly UPSIDE DOWN super slow ;) I did that into the ground, RIGHT after my brain injury (well, like 3 days after...I wasn't ready to be flying yet - LOL) She's fixed again ;)

A 2100 mah pack will give 18+ mins of flight, and still flies good, though you might want to swap the battery and ESC locations to help the CG. But if you do, the 1350 packs will still balance. You’d basically have the pack at the CG so nearly any pack size would balance.
I don't think I have any 2100mAh packs. Thing I love about this plane, it just flies awesome with all sorts of CG locations. If you want to make her fly in High Alpha well, just push the CG back a bit...it reminds me of the NIGHT VAPOR in that regard.

We're in negotiations with Horizon Hobby. Since I'm not a Hard Core 3D Heli Pilot, I'm not 100% sure they're going to work with me on this item, but I want it SOOO BAD!!! Hope this ends up being a heli we can share...but might not know for a bit.

Advice request from a newbie: 2S vs 3S battery with this model? G2 or not on this battery? And I guess I'll also need a charger! It would be nice to have a recommended battery/charger for this plane for the benefit of newbies... there are SO MANY OPTIONS that I find myself paralyzed! Thanks in advance!
I was going to add a servo for the flapperon, but receiver reset, forward programming are way over my head!
If it's over your head, just follow our process and you can do it!
On this plane, I highly recommend you max out the rudder throw mechanically by moving as far in on the rudder horn as possible and all the way out on the servo horn. And when you need a tight turn, use lots of rudder while you’re banking with aileron, and it’ll crank itself right around really well even when in safe mode.
I've always been a big proponent of utilizing MAX throws on planes, but there are times when it can cause some oscillation...but on a slower flying plane, not usually an issue.
How do you fly it if your using flaps when it doesn't come with flaps

Don't worry Mark - you can and will get it figured out. Mind numbing is a common unfortunate FIRST time symptom of doing some of these RC tasks, but you will LOVE it if you can work through it. Just do a step, pause the video, OR run it at a SLOWER PACE (click the gear, and select 0.5X or 0.25X speed).
Once you've done it once or twice, you'll start to get the hang of it, but if you don't, we're here to help not only hook you on the "next" plane, but also show you HOW we did that one too. This has been a hallmark of our channel for thousands of videos.

Hour 2:16:00...I was finding out what I didn't know about flaps and mixing while out standing in my field. I was spinning the dial as Brian is doing 2:16:00 and was attacked by a flock of birds.
I'd stop, they'd leave, then I'd go back to it and they'd attack again. Pretty cool. The noise definitely affected them.
It's amazing when you get the flaps and elevator working together. Absolute panic when you don't.
100% - Gotta play with them to see the best way to enjoy them ;) Flaps are awesome!!!
When they come back a second time they want to mix it up! Was it crows? You get really great control practice dogfighting with birds, and it really seems like crows do it for fun. Just stay above and behind them for bird safety-

I didn't pay attention to the species. The first time it happened I just thought the birds were having a squabble among friends but when I ran the scroll wheel again they came right out and started buzzing me. When I first started flying in my area, the sky would be clear of everything. But if I looked real close I could see vultures, eagles, hawks, falcons and ravens waaaaaay up high pulling their wings coming down to see the new guy.
I leave all the birds alone and they've left me alone...except for the Radian that crashed into an Eagles nest. ;-(

We have apex predators here. My dawg and I were attacked by a wolf not long ago. Something you don't forget. We were standing out in a huge field flying with my dawg next to me when he let out a blood curdling howl. I was almost a zero time pilot then. I know now I was gliding too low over some huge cotton woods next to the river. The dawg howl scared the crap outta me and then I heard the sickening crunch. We left it in the nest, lights a blazing, (Night Radion) rather than disturb the birds. They rid themselves of it on a windy day.
I cobbled the parts making flaps on my third Radian. ;-)
Q: will a 6 channel radio suffice to setup up like yours ?

Hey Brian, nice informative video on the SUS :-) Regarding a prop change, what would happen if you would use the 11x7.5 three blade prop from the Turbo Timber Evolution on this plane. I still have two of those lying around because i went with a 2 blade prop for 4S on the Timber Evo so would be nice to be able to re use these.

What Flap % did you finally come up with and elevator % when flaps are deployed? For Pos 1 and Pos 2? Pos 0 is obviously no flaps deployed.
Brian, I find your videos very informative but I have two comments.
For safety purposes, I feel that the airplane's prop should be never installed until after all of the construction processes and radio setup is tested. I just saves having a throttle reversed and spinning out of control. Just thinking safety here.
The other item I notice, at least in the Extra 300 video, never mention balancing your props. Out of balanced props really cause issues with your motors/engines and gyro functions.

The Eratix is more capable, but the Slow Ultra Stick will fly more like a "normal" plane, rather than 3D profile plane. There's a different feel and look, and strength to the Slow Ultra Stick.
