Back in 1976, the USA increased the length limit from 65ft to 75ft which was the beginning of the end of cabover usage. After that year, cabovers were still being produced up through either the late 1990s or the early 2000s & they were popular back in the 1980s too.

I had a Ford CL9000, originally yellow, coincidentally. Mine was an ex-ETMF tractor, w/ a Jifflox. East Texas Motor Freight. A '79, with a 6V-92 TA.
This one was almost certainly a fleet tractor, since it has a Spicer 7 speed.
Companies like CF and such put 7 speeds in their trucks.

Wow cool Cl9000! Always a fan of the old Fords. I have a 95/96 freightliner that was a 7 speed originally. Lot of single axle from freight companies were like that, UPS,Yellow freight, CF, Roadway ect. Very cool. Thanks for sharing 👍

Nice shop tour, But... why cut the driveshaft? If you're not going to use certain stuff resell It!!! to someone who needs it. If you guys ever want to sell that CL-9000 i have been looking for a single axle spring suspension sleeper truck for a few years now. The only problem with them is nobody reproduces parts & interior stuff is impossible to find. Better sell it to me. The year would be 1975-77 i think.
