As someone who is in the tech industry where I'm on teams involving artists, engineers, and software engineers, we have multiple, weekly conversations on such topics. The world is changing fast. The pace it has picked up, will separate those who cannot handle such change. 5 years from now, I don't think anyone can predict what the creative landscape will look like.
Great conversation and really enjoyed hearing another perspective of AI from two industry badasses. AI theft is still shitty (really shitty), but I think it's healthy to have these conversations so artists can feel more empowered to hear how our mentors are approaching it.
I have yet to see any in-deth tutorail/course for Ai from artists (not from tech bros). Even an intro workflow gumroad would be amazing! I feel like Maciej tutorial would be perfect.
same, I really to see how Maciej is implementing A.I into his output, really made me curious when an artist I personally respect talking about this subject.
1:36:00 I'm a simple man, I love concept art/illustration and the tidious labor that comes with it. I'm not interested in using AI to such an extent, and If that means that I have to change career at some point, I'll be sad but so be it :D
I find MidJourney is great if you feed it your own images and use a combination of /blend and /imagine and then get into smashing multiple renders back together with more /blend, a bit of photoshop, then some more /blend. I've put together a collection of images I call my "spice rack" that I know will push things in certain directions when I blend them in. Certain lighting setups, camera angles, scene vibes that transfer themselves nicely on to images that are already pretty good and then the spice rack takes them up to the next level. Way better than using prompting alone. I'm getting some REALLY cool results and nothing like the generic shit that's in the MidJourney community gallery.
01:07:55 This is definitely where we're heading. I've been telling people this for ages now and they don't believe me. It's clear that the logical way for the big companies to keep people engaged and tied up in their screens 24/7 is to pipe them customized content generated on the fly by an AI system that has a record of everything they've ever watched, typed or said since they were born with a phone in their hand (or implanted in their bran in the not to distant future). It'll be consumerism and advertising that drives it. They'll build subliminal advertising in there for their customers. Let's face it there will only be 2 companies soon, Apple and Amazon where we spend out UBI and buy our adult diapers. the dream for the companies is that AI will totally remove pesky creatives from the equation. the AI system will generate absolutely everything on the fly. No need for writers, directors, actors, designers, VFX artists. No wages, no royalties, the perfect cooperate dream. Music biz will be the first to go down, movies and games not far behind. The thing is, we'll all fucking LOVE it! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I know this is rambling, I shoulda had Chat GPT re-write it for me!
yeah but sadly US keeps blocking poor countries like mine. I don't have access to chatgpt or microsoft bing chat or anything similar. I guess I'm allowed to complain 😂
