You should have a better grinder, the The Vario grinder is on the low end of acceptable grinders for espresso. How can you pull a shot and then steam right away? Did I miss a step?
The Vario is plenty fine for espresso. I have a Monolith Flat Max in the shop and currently borrowing a DF64. Dipper style machines use boiler pressure to get water into the group which allows me to start steaming immediately. I also press the steam switch just before pulling the shot to build additional pressure while the shot pulls.
@@odysseyespresso Thx for the answer! I've been a Decent Espresso owner for three years now but I like to keep up on lever machines. The Odyssey seems like a fine machine for that amount of money. I've gone through my experimental stage and have settled on Americanos as my drink of choice. I have way too much machine for my coffee needs but I just love it and Decent is a fabulous company. Haven't used a WDT yet and never will! IMO, some people are just drawn to go down the rabbit hole. Whatever makes you happy I guess but I like to keep it pretty simple and the Decent is so easy on the puck that I can get away with my method easily. Glad to see you have a better grinder and I also have a Vario for its versatility.
@@odysseyespresso I agree and if I had more knowledge when I started this journey(over 35 years), I would have gone for a lever machine. I got drawn in with all that E61 shiny metal and that's a WLL specialty. I guess I've had all kinds of machines BUT a lever. The Decent machine however, is truly next level design. Kinda shocked nobody is trying to copy the tech.
I guess that's the case. But with most direct lever machines, you can pull up a little the lever, then you can disengage the pf. I'm not sure, but I think you'll be able to do that on this machine.
How close would this come to a Flair 58 flavour wise? My dream machine would be basically the flair 58 with milk steaming and automatic boiler function, this looks too good to be true in the video =)
Is it possible to request a refund? I have invested in your terrific device but it is taking more time than I willing to wait now. I don’t see anything written about requesting refunds. All I read in the offering, is I can ask for a refund after I receive the machine and fourteen days after. I don’t want to wait…thanks
Great overview. Thanks so much for posting!
Thank you for showing us the workflow. This machine looks good even with the innards exposed.
Awesome to see your hard work on display!
There is no water level indicator ?
No, just a low fluid level sensor. You get 4-5 double shots before needing to refill
one question: when?

@@Rick9482 the Decent is a great machine but there's something about the simplicity of levers that draws people in.

Is it spring loaded?
As a Cremina owner I wish you the best of luck. Looks great. Is the body of the production model insulated so you wont burn yourself if touched?
It's partially insulated so still hot but not enough to burn you
You need to wait for the pressure to be release until you get the portafilter out ?

There’s about a zillion variables. The common pints are 58mm basket and a lever. You could make them taste really similar or really different.
After steaming how long before the boiler can be used to pull another shot?
Immediately if you turn the steam switch off while steaming to allow boiler pressure to drop a bit
Hi, is the shower screen 58mm or do you need to use the screen that was placed on the puck, similar to the flair 58? Looks great either way
From what i've seen, It uses an E61 shower screen.
Can you please record video in landscape? Squinting over here trying to see the beautiful machine!

Yes. Please send an email to info@odysseyespresso.com and we'll get that processed for you.
What coffee is that?
I think I could read the label at 0:54 and it appears to be "Rwanda Muhari by Difficult Coffee Co. "
