I think they’ve really nailed the type of weapon that Allen needs. He doesn’t need super flashy guys that are as toxic and narcissistic as they are talented, he just needs guys who are hard working, selfless, and have great hands. The Bills most talented weapon is Amari Cooper, and he’s only on the team to scare defenses into covering him, opening things up. Teams are frustrated because they know if they don’t lock down Cooper, he will make magic happen with anything Allen throws his way, but that if they do cover him, the Bills have tons of other players who will make something happen. Johnson, Hollins, Kincaid, Davis, Coleman, Knox, all of those guys are on the same page and are good at catching the ball. Allen is surrounded by big bodies with good catching abilities, and he’s only knows that his elite O-line and personal escapability will allow enough time for him to find someone open, run to take care of it himself, or at the very least avoid a negative play. The only real exceptions are Cook and Shakir. Shakir has shorter arms and can’t reach for things as well as some, but his skillset allows him to really shine with an insanely low drop rate, being that nimble and solid slot guy who can really beat teams up. At the same time, Cook has been a fantastic back, making this an incredibly diverse offense. Seriously, the Bills are way more complete on offense than anyone could’ve expected. Bring pressure, the O-line will pick it up and Allen will beat you. Take Shakir and Cooper out of the game, the Bills will bring out Ty Johnson. Try to stop the run game, Allen finds Coleman down field or checks it down to Hollins. Force Allen out of the pocket and Knox and Kincaid magically find themselves open and go for 25. Switch things up and watch James Cook cook. Get to third or fourth and one and watch Josh Allen turn himself into a human battering ram and push right through you for the touchdown. Gotta love how creative this team’s diverse and complete talent, elite O-line, amazing OC, and MVP QB has allowed them to be!!

Actually the advanced metrics say he was less accurate this year than he has been for the past 4 seasons. It really just boils down to the fact that his offensive coordinator isn’t a total dunce anymore and he can finally run a consistent offense. I hope the Bills manage to keep Brady around so Allen doesn’t have to learn a brand new system for the 3rd time in 3 years.

Yeah J.B. is a great coordinator, but it takes the talent and skills of the players to pull off. An Shakir makes these plays look easy. His attention to both his team mates and opponents, his pacing, and eye for open pockets, along with his timing is simply top notch.

Great break down. This is the first video I seen of yours, now I'm gonna find more. (I'd love to see the Xs & Os of how Brady & Allen have evolved this season. Baltimore's Cover 0 heavy blitz and disguised rushes/coverage, followed by Houston's simple Cover 1 / 1 high middle close both gave the Bills FITS. I was worried the receivers talent wasn't going to beat man coverage after that. But then all the teams tried it. Lions, Jets, Miami, Patriots, even the Rams 3-4 & KC almost abandoned the heaviest zone D in the league for man, and the Bills were then able to beat it. Brady's formations seemed to work. It was worrying, cuz Allen has ALWAYS been great against man (most dual threats are - there's generally an open lane to take if the X didn't get open). But since those early bad games against man coverage, how have they been beating it since?

When you actually watch the games, and you realize that the Bills are doing this with like you said, a pretty "ragtag" group of receivers...it's really more impressive what Allen has done. He doesn't have a 1000 yard receiver on this team. The only pro bowler besides him on the offense was his left tackle. James Cook should've got the nod over Joe Mixon based on stats and team record, but for some reason he didn't. Cook has pretty much same yards in less attempts, averaging more yards per carry and he has like 5 more rushing TDs over him or something.
The best thing about this ragtag group of receivers though is that they clearly are all bought in to what Joe Brady is doing and they're playing TEAM football. They don't care who gets the targets, they all block effectively in the running game. I mean look at a guy like Mack Hollins. I feel like Mack Hollins has been talked about more this year than he's been in his entire career. He's sort of a minimum contract type of guy who rounds out a depth chart but he's been critical to Buffalo's offense and he's getting a lot more snaps than I bet anyone thought he would to start the season.
I don't know if Buffalo is gonna go all the way this year. I think a big part of that possibility will involve the Steelers upsetting the Ravens in the Wild Card because I just think Baltimore is a really bad matchup for the Bills, and it's just their defensive personnel right now. They're not a good run stopping team and they don't have any answers for Derrick Henry. A lack of size and strength with their front 7 and it's something this team will have to address through the draft. Their defense has definitely taken a step back. They're good when they get takeaways but if they don't get them, they can be exposed pretty badly. The Bills matchup much better with the Chiefs. Regardless, they've been a fun team to watch this year, more so than usual and Josh Allen has had a phenomenal season, even if the stats aren't as eye watering as he's had in past years. 5th straight season accounting for 40 or more touchdowns. No one else has ever done it. He's had the most touchdowns throughout the first 7 years of a career in NFL history. He surpassed Mahomes in that metric this year.

Creativity helps when you have one of the most dynamic QBs who can effortlessly throw rockets from within 50 yards without having their foot set while on the move and has the athleticism/size to run through DBs on scrambles/designed runs. Also helps the interior of the O-line is pretty buff so despite the video being about the Bills pass game in these condensed looks, they are actually a pretty good run team to begin with. Since they bunch the defense up and use speed/misdirection to have Cook or Allen run the ball for good yardage.
The Steelers don't have as much talent on offense and thus are really limited with what they can consistently do. Sure they have TEs that can work as moving linemen but they don't have the interior O-line for run blocking along with the explosive and efficient RBs to punish defenses playing 2 safety looks.

I disagree...Bills WR's do NOT get wide open. JA17 simply throws the ball accurately into the tightest windows imaginable. It seems the tighter the window, the better Josh feeds that ball in. No other QB can do what Allen does.

@@ThinkingFootball I actually live right down the street from the Bills stadium. I can see the tops of the cranes where the new stadium is being built from my house. I can also see Canada from my bedroom window.
Anyway, I'm not even a Bills fan. I'm a lifelong Bengals fan because I'm originally from an hour south of Cincy. And you know that I'm a real fan because in the first decade of my life, my Bungles were statistically THE worst team in the NFL. They didn't even make the playoffs til I was 15 and they didn't get a single playoff win til I was in my 30s.
But you know, I don't hate the Bills. I never have done. My grandmother used to work at the dry cleaners that did the all the Bills' laundry, and I mean the actual organization, not just the individual players'. Lots of times, I would be there and players like Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Phil Hansen, and on and on, would come in and do their personal stuff. So, I have a connection to the team, I suppose.

Should be a fun game if it happens. I think the Bills finally have the players and smarts to compete with the Chiefs. I wouldn’t be that confident if I was a Chiefs fan. So many of their games are toss ups. It does help to have a great defense and the best tight end ever. But why wouldn’t you be confident? Everything works out for the Chiefs lately. What’s one more playoff run.

@@Ray-dl5mp lmao I still don't trust McDermott and the Bills talent defense to deal with Mahomes if he chooses to give him the ball back with under a minute left in the 4th to keep a lead. Which is why the only option the Bills have against the Chiefs in the playoffs this year is to replicate the game where they limit possessions and go absolute ball control style once they sit on a lead.

Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse are not "Upstate NY". Buffalo in particular is "Western NY".j

Bills offense has been high octane since 2020. Allen was responsible for 6 TD's vs. the Rams a few weeks back but they still lost the game. They allowed 42 points VS Detroit as well. If Allen puts the Bills up 100 points, you can be rest assured the Defense will lose the game final score 110-100.

"rag tag" WR core?!? Talent all across the field and that includes the backfield. This a deep team with a super star at QB. Easy schedule and division and Allen not playing hero ball till it's time to be a FB. Less Arm punts this year but that one vs the Pats is his default setting.
