Just got mine today and I adore it. Always been a fan of bassier instruments, and it strums so smoothly too. I can't seem to get the breathing techniques down, but I can strum it fairly quickly. I just gotta practice the breathing a bit more, I find myself defaulting one tune I'm extremely familiar with. Even if I experiment and branch out my muscle memory switches back to that original tune. Just gotta keep practicing is all!

Try plucking slower and breathing more pronounced. Slowly in a rhythm and gradually building speed as you get better. Try to sit when attempting this at first as it can make you lightheaded. Enjoy.

I have 17 harps now. In my opinion, Lighthouse is best bang for the buck.

I bought one after seeing this review and got it today. Wow! It's such a extreme difference in quality compared to the cheap beginner one I had before. I'm glad I started with that though, because the light house is really much more easy to play on! :-)
Thanks for keeping up the work with video postings.. I'm grateful!

Yes I love the Lighthouse, in terms of bang of the buck...it's one of the best...I probably played it the most these days. I like the softer reed. The only other one I'm considering is the Alpha, based upon your review. I have two other non but similar Glazyrin harps so not looking to go up in size too much since I've got it covered there. I have some Pokens on the way which I'm excited in terms of increasing my speed. At this point I'm stoked about learning all the various mouth/tongue/throat positions. There's so much to learn but that's what makes the jaw harp so much fun. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for all your videos! A couple of weeks ago I did barely know what a jaw harp is. Then a video of тюрген Кам pukled me into the topic of throat singing and Khomus. I learned so much from your videos, ordered my first harps and can‘t wait to start playing.

It is like a video game. The longer you play, the more complex and deeper the game goes. I do some practicing, then some play without any particular goal. Enjoy.

I just ordered this as my very first harp, which I will receive soon. So I'll see how it turns out as my learning harp. I actually ordered it on impulse without much research (or even hearing it first, had no idea there was such diversity to harps!) But I am thrilled I got this one, because it has a fantastic bassy sound, much better than many others I've heard, especially for the price.
I'll post an update here on how my learning goes on this harp, like I said, I've never played one before, but I already have decades of experience on other musical instruments.

@@bebbcorpharpery7331 I just did the same as masa. I bought a crappy Snoopy at first but i wasnt able to do any sound. I bought that vagan type impulsivly as well. Hope I will able to do great techno sound with that russian type. Thanks for posting your video. Next time, I will check out your review first before buying a crappy Charlie Brown brand or a good one like the lighthouse type.

As I was saying in your last live sesh, I just ordered this as my first, by "luck." I saw a top ten video of yours while it was shipping and was glad I chose the right one. I got it having never played before. I may have tried about three 5 minute sessions with a little thinking in between before I was confident enough to be weird on social media. And not much more time invested to now play without sparks flying off my teeth lol

I've only had my Pavel Potkin harp for a day and I already know that I need the lighthouse. I love how easy this instrument is to learn -- you can just pick it up and make cool sounds. There's more difficult parts to learn later, but the basics are so simple. I already know that I am so hooked on the jaw harp. I've always thought that the sound they make was cool, but didn't know what made it until about a month ago.
Since learning about them, I can't stop listening to people playing them. They're so incredibly versatile. Personally, I love the deeper harps, and the more saturated ones. I'm still so surprised by how affordable most harps are (and even the high end ones don't compare to the price of other instruments), the lighthouse being very reasonable and the Pavel Potkin cheap as hell.

Some of the best harps in my personal collection are under 50. Mohan rival any of the 100$ and above Russian Vargan. I have about 20 different Mohan in my collection. In my opinion they are also some of the best bass harps out there.

Just wanted to say thank you. Not only for all of your super informative videos and comparisons but for making a video sample of all the harps you sell! I settled on the lighthouse for my first harp after watching your videos and listening to every harp on your site. Cant wait for it to arrive but luckily since i went through your site i dont have to wait for shipping from russia haha worth every penny!
    .
I was wondering if you ever intend to stock any of the Ukrainian vargans?(such as the vorskla, goryn, sluch or pysol that are available on oberton) They have some of the craziest bass tones ive ever heard! Id love to add one to the collection once im more experienced but I hate ordering from overseas if i dont have to

Thank you for your kind words. I did have Kniega deep bass from Ukraine in stock, but they sold out within two hours. The most fantastic bass harps I have happened across. My website showcases about 1/3 of all the harps that I sell. Many of the other harps are a bit rarer and sell out before I can put hem on the website. If you contact me on FB at the Harpery you can see many of the harps, before they go on the website. Going in to the fall I should have more harps on the website.

I just got mine today!!! So excited... i've had a Snoopy for almost 30 years now. Before I saw your channel I had never known that better ones were out there. There's a little sticker on the reed that I don't understand. It has an odd arrow pointing up and right then "A" then a slash and then two Russian characters that translate to what I find as "L" and "ja"... Does anyone know what this means?

Hi there! I want to buy this compass, but have no idea about in what note I should buy it. What note is the one you are playing or what would you recommend? And would you recommend the lighthouse or the wave? I'd like some loudness and more possibilities. I started off with a cheap generic one, time to take it to the next level. :) Thanks a lot!

Hi! I purchased both compass and lighthouse. BUT in a week i noticed vertical cracks on the enamel of my front teeth.. Dunno if i had it before - or the harp did that. Anyways - my question is whether it is safe to play jaw harp if you have cracks on the enamel .. *(probably not, and that is why i am going to switch to Dan-moi variation)

    • @bebbcorpharpery7331
      @bebbcorpharpery7331  6 лет назад

I would say that oral health is something very unique and individual. I don’t have any experience with cracked enamel. Jaw harp or not, if I was you I would ask a dentist about your cracked enamel, what to do, does it require action, and possible causes.
