I applied for reduced hours which I did 2 years ago and got money . But now they won't give me anything saying I have excessive earnings. I went from 30 hours to 14 hours and they won't give me anything I don't understand what has changed

For now, they're waiving the work search requirement. You should still mark Yes to the question asking if you looked for work, they just won't require to put down a work search record. As for the claim, it's either one year or 26 full weeks of pay (whatever your benefit amount is). You'll also get an extra $600 a week on top of your benefit amount, and that extra $600 will be through July 31st. (There might be also something in the CARES Act that extends unemployment benefits an extra 13 weeks after you've exhausted all your benefit amount, but I haven't done the research on that part yet.)
dsguardian I’m an independent contractor and they screwed me . Max benefits 0...weekly benefits 0. Now I have this existing claim that has zero pay out and now i just found out that we need to do claim on April 28 when self employed people can apply. So what do I do? I will have two claims ? One where it says 0 payout and the other official PUA claim where I make 167 state benefit plus 600 on top of that? Edd hasn’t been clear from the get go.

Probably not. EDD has exempted the search for work requirement in California. It's a global pandemic and the governor and the state have told people to stay at home and NOT to go work. Besides, most businesses are shut down and not interviewing people. But, again, it's up to the EDD. They have the final say-so. All the best.

You just answer Yes to the question of whether you looked for work (EDD told me to put down Yes on that question). But no, you don't need to do a work search record or anything. In fact, when I did the online claim form last week, the website didn't even show me the work search record page.

@Luis I'm in the same boat. I got paid April 15 and today is Friday April 24 and still no EDD Debit Card. But someone from the other EDD video commented that it takes 7-10 business days after you get paid to get the EDD Debit Card.

@@GodMovesMinistry They give you the option to choose either a debit card or a check. A debit card is always recommended because you will get your funds quicker , almost 1-2 weeks quicker .
So I got the 167 a week plus the 600 a week now for unemployment for rideshare drivers in California. Thank goodness!!! But now I will have to these certifications every week. Should I worry about working part time ? Working and say making more than 167 a week? We shall see, this is all new to me.
For question 6- In June, I redeemed bank of America cash rewards for $41 and I also cashed a check my Mom wrote me for $900 and I deposited. She was just paying me back for taking her taking her truck in for auto work previously. Should I report these as income though I don't really consider it income for work. The other question is I work small salary and commission, my hours decreased by 80% but that does not affect my pay as I don’t get payed hourly and I get payed every two weeks, having said that do I just divide my earnings including taxes, gross, and write that amount in the weekly earnings report on the online from?

I checked UI online and said my claims were disqualified and I was wondering if it had anything to do with me being a partial employee, and according to the site it said the online certification is not working for partial employees, is that the reason why I was rejected? Hey thanx for the help bro but i got a question because on my form it says mail on 4/12/20 but barely received 4\10\20 and i mail it and it doesnt get there on that date are they going to like not except my paper documents?
You can do it online or mail it in. You have about 3 weeks or so to do the claim form. It doesn't have to be received on 4/12. They just mean that 4/12 is the earliest date you can send it in or file it online.
In the form they sent me to certify said fill this form out if you want to receive your benefits and mail it no later than the 5th does that mean that they have to receive it on the 5th or the my last day to mail it out is the 5th If I mail it on the 4th should I be ok?

When i went on my avaikable wat to file and trying to certify my claim ... california ... at the bottom of the mobile claim , fill out your questions ie did you work sick ect , so at the bottom it asks name, ss# , and very bottom fir a 10 digit account number
I have a question I received a 'request for identity verification' form from EDD. They are asking for two identity documents with my written SSN. Im concerned because the letter that they sent me already has my Name, address, and SSN no. on it already. Why would they need me to write my ssn on those two documents. When I first read the letter, I thought it was a scam. Can you help me verify. Please and thank you! Also, I already created an account and filed my UI claim. They showed me how much I would be receiving and that I just need to certify biweekly.
Yes, sometimes EDD will need identity verification, but I'm not familiar with the form they send out. If it looks official and has the EDD address (do a Google search to verify), then yes, you would need to send in the forms. It's a pain, yes, I'm sorry you're having to go through that.

I live in California. What if I was about to accept my first job on April 9 2020, but due covid 19 a freeze happend at the job i was going to start. Usually when you first open a claim, you put down all of your employers for the past 18 months and your benefit amount is based on your highest quarter for the past 18 months. If you don't have any previous employers, meaning you're ineligible for UI benefits, you would need to apply for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program, which is a totally different program and hopefully that program will be up and running soon. CA is still setting up the PUA program.
My weeks where 5/3/20 to 5/09/20 on my form and I was lay off on 5/06/20 so do I fill it out that I worked 3 days and got lay off this was my 2 year 10 month employer or fill in no

What if the amount you got in the last 2 weeks is more than what fits in the spaces , The max amount you can put is $999,00 per week , but my employer paid me $3,500 for the 2 weeks , how do i write it in ??????
Just put down $999.99. It'll mark you down as excessive earnings, which just means you won't get benefits for that week, but the max you can put down is $999
@@dsguardian The 2 weeks in the form are from 3/29/20-4/4/20 and 4/5/20-4/11/20 . but i got $3,500 on April first for the first 2 weeks of April . How do i explain that in the form !!!! i stated my last day of work was 3/16/20???
If they're paying you $3500 for those two weeks, then I suppose it would be $1750 for each week. But the max you can put down is $999 per week, so I would put that amount down for each week. Problem is, you'd be well over the maximum, so you wouldn't qualify for UI benefits for those 2 weeks. BUT, if you need unemployment after 4/11, fill out the form, they'll say you have excessive earnings (which is fine, they don't penalize you), and then they'll send you a claim form for the weeks of 4/12 and 4/19.
I did my certify for benefits claim form on the 11th it said that my weekly benefit amount was $104 now it's saying pending it's been like that for 10 days already does that mean I'm disqualified

They are going to ask you some questions and you answer them and basically that's your certification. Then from there you either get paid or not get paid based on your answers. So you get payment from the state and then plus federal payment which is right now $600.

Hey thanx for the help bro but i got a question because on my form it says mail on 4/12/20 but barely received 4\10\20 and i mail it and it doesnt get there on that date are they going to like not except my paper documents?
I'm unsure, but you can complete the form online.
You can do it online or mail it in. You have about 3 weeks or so to do the claim form. It doesn't have to be received on 4/12. They just mean that 4/12 is the earliest date you can send it in or file it online.

In the form they sent me to certify said fill this form out if you want to receive your benefits and mail it no later than the 5th does that mean that they have to receive it on the 5th or the my last day to mail it out is the 5th If I mail it on the 4th should I be ok?

This is the first time to claim my UI. I don't receive the documents which says 10 days after file my claim. Where can I have the EDD customer account number to register the ui online or follow up my claim. I have no luck to talk to any agent through the phone (hang up automatically)

you dont need an EDD customer number to setup online access. I did it without but don't remember what info I had to give. I think it was SSN

When i went on my avaikable wat to file and trying to certify my claim ... california ... at the bottom of the mobile claim , fill out your questions ie did you work sick ect , so at the bottom it asks name, ss# , and very bottom fir a 10 digit account number

I have a question
I received a 'request for identity verification' form from EDD. They are asking for two identity documents with my written SSN. Im concerned because the letter that they sent me already has my Name, address, and SSN no. on it already. Why would they need me to write my ssn on those two documents. When I first read the letter, I thought it was a scam. Can you help me verify. Please and thank you!
Also, I already created an account and filed my UI claim. They showed me how much I would be receiving and that I just need to certify biweekly.
Yes, sometimes EDD will need identity verification, but I'm not familiar with the form they send out. If it looks official and has the EDD address (do a Google search to verify), then yes, you would need to send in the forms. It's a pain, yes, I'm sorry you're having to go through that.
@@dsguardian Hey, thanks for your reply. I checked my account and it seems like the first week for benefits was approved. Which has left me confused as to why they sent me the identification request. Also, I checked the return address and it led me to some house next to a railroad lol. I ended up emailing EDD through my account and it says they will get back to me in 5-7 business days.

I live in California. What if I was about to accept my first job on April 9 2020, but due covid 19 a freeze happend at the job i was going to start. So if I never worked before and couldn't start due to Covid-19 am I elegible to recieve unemployment benefits? With 600$ from the goverment even if I didn't pay into UI taxes
Usually when you first open a claim, you put down all of your employers for the past 18 months and your benefit amount is based on your highest quarter for the past 18 months. If you don't have any previous employers, meaning you're ineligible for UI benefits, you would need to apply for the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance program, which is a totally different program and hopefully that program will be up and running soon. CA is still setting up the PUA program.

What if the amount you got in the last 2 weeks is more than what fits in the spaces , The max amount you can put is $999,00 per week , but my employer paid me $3,500 for the 2 weeks , how do i write it in ??????
Just put down $999.99. It'll mark you down as excessive earnings, which just means you won't get benefits for that week, but the max you can put down is $999
@@dsguardian The 2 weeks in the form are from 3/29/20-4/4/20 and 4/5/20-4/11/20 . but i got $3,500 on April first for the first 2 weeks of April . How do i explain that in the form !!!! i stated my last day of work was 3/16/20???
If they're paying you $3500 for those two weeks, then I suppose it would be $1750 for each week. But the max you can put down is $999 per week, so I would put that amount down for each week. Problem is, you'd be well over the maximum, so you wouldn't qualify for UI benefits for those 2 weeks. BUT, if you need unemployment after 4/11, fill out the form, they'll say you have excessive earnings (which is fine, they don't penalize you), and then they'll send you a claim form for the weeks of 4/12 and 4/19.

The account number you get from the mail is to set up your online account and from there it will tell you what weeks you need to certify.

They are going to ask you some questions and you answer them and basically that's your certification. Then from there you either get paid or not get paid based on your answers. So you get payment from the state and then plus federal payment which is right now $600.
