Sounds better with the muffler! I would install it if I had the Buick! Funny that you mentioned that it's not for the Maverick.. I was actually thinking what it would sound like replacing the factory muffler.. especially since you took off the resonator and added the duel chrome tips..
Well the Maverick is getting traded in sometime next month and the muffler is for the future vehicle that will replace the Maverick.
Amazon substituted one of these when I ordered a Lawson bullit muffler. I didn't realize at the time and though they simply had changed their internal deflector configuration. Since day 1 it was very very raspy, especially under load from 2000rpms and above. I had just fugured it was perhaps the fact I have a small displacement v6 with headers and that my exhaust configuration wasn't ideal. But after hearing yours, I see it's 100% to do with the muffler itself. You might think that's not bad, but I suggest you clamp it on properly and take it for a drive. It gets louder and much worse.
