Hi Miss or MRs.😅lauren Bateman i am one of your bigest fan, The way you teach guitar and also your such a good gutarist, and you iam know playing a guitar and a beginner also and you teach me a lot you are very wonderful guitarist and a teacher your the best😍. Playing guitar is really really hard and iam in the stage of chaging cords but steel practicing😥
Awww thank you. Keep practicing and focus on making small progress. It adds up over time. Remember you're on chapter 1 or 2 of your journey and I'm on Chapter 20. Enjoy each part of it.
Hello Lauren, You are great teacher, I'm now playing walk the line that Johnny Cash sang. You make it so easy to play the guitar. And pick it up too. Will keep watching your videos
I have 4 really nice Thalia capos for my guitars. I have a Shubb for my electric and also a partial capo for leaving some strings open. At first I thought Thalia was too expensive, but then I won one. I bought more of different colors to match each guitar.
You sure are the best guitar teacher especially for a beginner guitarist like me. If you were a math teacher I’d excel in your class 😉. Thanks so much Lauren
@@LaurenBateman They need to make a capo that you can wear around your neck when you're not using it. I keep losing mine! I've found Wingo capos to be very economical for those who need to replace them often (currently two for $10 on Amazon). 😎
I just bought an acoustic learners guitar . i have nothing to lose because i discovered this channel . this is where i am going to stick . @ lauren bateman , You are the best guitarist ever , best teacher ever .
@@LaurenBateman Oh dear not a good thing to do. Hope you heal well. Suppose you could put a slider on it and do some funky riffs ( Oh no wrong hand for that ) Take care hun. Stay safe.
@@LaurenBateman shame on me Lauren. I just noticed a little banner up in the right-hand corner, and thank you. I can't believe it I watched this early in the morning like 5:30 ish Pacific coast time. I save most all of your lessons this one's a keeper! I can't get this grin off my face 😂
Hi, I play a Fender villager 12 string acoustic guitar. I bought a Boston capo recently I play a number of Billie Eilish songs and find it great for getting my voice right when singing especially songs like "Bellyache" Party Favor" "Ocean eyes" and "Everything I wanted" I can sing higher notes I find that the more I sing them the better my voice gets I spend about 2 or 3 hours a day on my guitar just love playing and singing her songs and they sound great on a 12 string love your video ❤🥰🤩🤩🏴🏴
Lauren, With regard to the capo putting to much pressure on the strings & maybe out of tune, there are adjustable capos guitarists can purchase, Thank you again, God Bless.
I bought a capo, and I didn't use it for a month, because I already had a lot of song ideas, hut when I bnb put the Capo on my guitars, the sound opened me up to new sound possibilies🤔
Lauren, a noob question for sure but, if i want to play power chords @the 12th fret and up, would i use a capo? and where? . so i came for the capo, and stayed for the singing really nice!! thank you..
You mentioned tuning, is there a resource you can use to figure out what tuning mYou should have based on the capo? Meaning if you have the capo on 5 what would the tuning be? A,D, G etc? Thanks, love your lessons
I have to change always the chords with capo or I can play sometimes the same chords, changing tonality only? I don't understand well. I have to recalculate chords every time? Sorry for the dumb question
There are the 'purists" who have a big hate for the use of capos. I've never understood it. Just because a song was recorded in "A" does not mean that this is your singing range. But more importantly, some progressions have you on and off barre chords quickly. While you'd love to learn to do that smoothly, throwing on a capo and NOT doing that makes the song much more accessible. Keep working on the barre chords, of course, but if a capo makes your guitar experience better then go for it. BTW: Glen Campbell was one of the greatest guitar players who ever strapped on a guitar. He once said "I am king of the capo". If it's good enough for him, it's good enough for me.
Hi Lauren, thanks for your great video's! Very helpful for me as a beginner. A question: if the capo brings the guitar out of tune do you have to take the capo off to get in tune again or can you re-tune with the capo still on? I mean; do the strings glide/slide under the capo or will they stick? By the way: would you be so kind to play Mother Goose from Jethro Tull's Aqualung? A great song to play with the capo on I guess. Thanks!
I retune with the capo on the guitar. If remove it and retune it, the same issue will happen. Jethro Tull huh? Don't think I've done any of that music.
@@LaurenBateman thanks again for your answer. Ok clear!, capo on when retuning. Jethro Tull of course not everyone's cup of tea. I'm a huge fan of the Beatles too. Some idiots who are planning to buy and play guitar say: "I will begin with some Beatle songs, just a couple of some easy chords." Whahaha; let them play the intro of: "I feel fine." That's tough, those barre chords! And stretching your pinkie. And for instance the strumming on "All my loving". Have you done a video on these songs? If not: could you please do that? The Beatles were great pioneers in music, they will never be forgotten and their songs will live on forever! Loved your "Norwegian wood" and "Come together". Kind regards, love your tutorials!
I'm 55 here..my first guitar was @ 12 (classical) then got a Yamaha (steel string) @ 14, then a '69 Gibson @ 17...Just bought a Washburn last year in June was without a guitar since '94 & man that F bar chord is a bitch!
I absolutely hate that goofy lookin' contraption. Always have. It looks like the fingerboard is separating from the neck, and you people must have recently re glued the fingerboard, so you're using this ugly freakin' thing to clamp the fingerboard while the glue dries. And you can't wait for the glue to dry, so you play the guitar anyway. LoL! And I'll call ANYBODY'S bluff on your excuses for using it too. Your excuses, reasons, or whatever.. are more pathetic than the contraption itself.
@@LaurenBateman Yeah, I think so. An exception would be for a girl to play for another girl who wants to sing. But not with a Daisy Rock guitar, though. I actually like that company for doing stuff different than just imported Fender knock offs.

You don't need a capo for power chords. That is the beauty of those chords. Very simple to play anywhere.
You mentioned tuning, is there a resource you can use to figure out what tuning mYou should have based on the capo? Meaning if you have the capo on 5 what would the tuning be? A,D, G etc? Thanks, love your lessons

You don't have to recalculate the chords. The capo does it for you.

Once a person gets better, another way to avoid Barre chords, simply tune down
Or tune to E. Makes it much easier.
