Thank you, Uncle Larry. That was the mother of all discussions with Bryan Sutton. Super generous, super helpful, super mind-blowing. It's so easy to join you in geeking out at the world he is inside of, and how Bryan brings that to bear. Awesome share.
The hand comparison was remarkable. Seeing Bryan's hand a whole knuckle smaller, yet his playing isn't hindered by it whatsoever... That does my heart good! It is well with my soul!! 😇Thank you, Bryan!! GOD BLESS YOU, MAN!!! And God Bless Uncle Larry!! Cheers fellers!
Man can Bryan just take over your channel for a couple weeks and share his wisdom, tone, and acoustic goodness with us? Coffee with the adjunct Prof. Dr. Sutton. Love it when he makes a guest appearance
We must of been good in skool today, what a treat our teacher gave us...Tom you are the best, and Bryan of course.

There is a beautiful chemistry between Bryan and Tom. The respect and genuine affection they have for each other is always unashamedly on show, and the wealth of knowledge freely shared is simply wonderful… Thank you, chaps…
Thanks for dropping his name. His skills are blowing me away. Almost sounds like straight out of polishing in a studio. How can someone play that damn clean. ❤ Wow!!!
Man, great class today Uncle Larry! Thanks! And when Bryan played "it is well with my soul"... So effortless but soulful at the same time... Thank you for this video!
❤ my stepdad steeped me for vocals on the bandstand by his bass ability in country swing and Bluegrass. That’s how I started out. In my first band, we did all kinds of music and my black keyboard player became crazy crazy about country and Bluegrass. Bringing a tear to my musical soul today. Both my stepdad and my keyboard player are gone. Rest in peace Phil Cavin and Dion Taylor. Thank goodness memories don’t die thank you Tom and Bryan for this sweet video
It’s always a pleasure when you have Bryan on the show. The fact that you enjoy each other’s company is obvious. I sure hope that rumored Unelectric Larryland album will have some Bryan on it.
Hey Buko. I love listening to you and guys like Bryan talk. You’re both dissecting such high level skill shit that takes years to acquire. Added to that the mutual admiration and it’s just beautiful. Thanks for sharing this with the class. Your pal in Boston, Darin
Bryan is a monster. ❤ He just ripped that reel right off like it was nothing. And the tone. Fantastic. Thanks for sharing this stuff with us, Uncle Larry!
The chats with Bryan are always so fascinating. Tom, you inspire us Home Skoolers in so many ways and one of them is your boundless, enthusiastic curiosity about everything even with all your knowledge and experience. Thanks!!
I rarely comment on videos or engage at all just because of my.... well....me.... but I must say the " natural tremolo/vibrato" by using the forearm on the top has literally just BLOWN MY MIND!!!!! of all the effects I see people demo and use and brag about that has got to be hands down the best effect I have ever seen!!! I mean, that is just simplicity meets sheer talent and time on the instrument. Thank you so much for this video. A gold mine for people who are paying attention! GREAT VIDEO!
Love it when Bryan Sutton makes an appearance on Homeskoolin’! Always a special episode full of great playing and insight. Love the sound of that guitar Uncle Larry!
This was a masterclass in acoustic guitarring! Thank you Bryan and Tom. I have to say i love all the guests in the homeskooling show. It's a pleasure to hear from masters in their craft.
I think i enjoy hearing bryan play acoustic more than anyone ive heard, the dude slays. And that banner.. the tone of that guitar may be the best to ever come through my little cell phone speaker. What a treat!
Besides all the great questions from Tom and Bryan's thoughtful responses, I'm struck by the ever flowing music coming from that lovely old guitar. Even Bryan's noodling is so far above so many. Such a joy to listen to such mastery. Much Love and Respect to you both.
maaaaaaan what a tone that guitar and Bryan has, wow...always an extra special treat when he's a guest, and u always ask him the best questions, what a wealth of knowledge and what a beast of a player
This is a gift, Tom. Thank you, and thank Bryan. That guitar sounds absolutely amazing. There are depths there that go uncharted for most of us. Just amazing to hear.
Totally inspiring. I'm into year 3 of Bryan's course from a standing bluegrass start - thanks to this channel and these interviews. Just scratching the surface still but it's made me a much better player and opened a whole new world of music - thanks to you both. Never underestimate how much joy you've brought Tom. Cheers
Thank you so much Tom. You are really a very good interviewer, you ask interesting questions and you draw out great answers. And your old "cracked" guitar sounds really good. What a treat to have two master musicians talking shop with some deep thoughts sprinkled in. You and your friends are so very generous.
Love his philosophy, let the sounds be natural and different while picking. Also just amazing dynamics with the subtle accents in the right spots to add movement through the melody. So cool to see behind the scenes with the highest level professionals doing their thing!
Hey Uncle Larry! These past few weeks I find myself listening to Chris Janson's "The Outlaw Side of Me" on repeat. It's such an awesome album filled to the brink with raunchy riffs and godly tones! I love just putting it on and try to answer some of the epic lines you play. I'm sure it must have been a blast working on that thing! Paul Franklin's steel parts are stellar as always. Thanks for all the memorable musical experiences over the years both on RUclips and tape. I salute you, Tom!
Besides enjoying your playing and personality Tom, you have introduced us to some incredible musicians like Bryan, Jedd and Guthrie. Bryan's touch and taste on the acoustic guitar is truly some of the best I've ever heard and I might never have known about him if it weren't for the old Homeskoolin' channel. Thank you man
Such a great video, Tom. I wish there were a category for your kind of content so that you could win an award in it. But it doesn't exist because you're one of one
It is well with my soul hearing how he makes that beat up ol' Gibson sing! Thanks Amy otherwise I wouldn't know what that song is. UL, your hands are HUGE!! LOL.
Bryan is a fantastic communicator and it's great to see that his "talk" is really who he is during these impromptu chats from the studio. Yes, you got to get out to the jams and test the engine, to use Bryan speak, but his Artistworks course is monsterous and masterful if you want to get your picking hand working at another level. Not a grasser, but it was well worth my time and money to go through these and the thoughtful responses he makes are personal and super accurate. Thanks bud.
Bryan is such a thoughtful, insightful, articulate dude. An absolute pleasure to listen to him. And *then* there's the monsterous playing...
He seems like an old friend, I could listen to him talk for hours.
absolutely ferocious
Exactly!! Well said.
Tom, please pull Bryan aside for another 10 or 15 of these impromptu chats.
It was utterly fascinating!
I love it when Bryan comes to visit us Home Skoolers. That Gibson sounds beautiful in both his hands and yours.
What a joy to be sitting in a room and hearing such mastery. Larry, does it ever get old? You seem genuinely amazed even after all the session work
Thank you, Uncle Larry. That was the mother of all discussions with Bryan Sutton. Super generous, super helpful, super mind-blowing. It's so easy to join you in geeking out at the world he is inside of, and how Bryan brings that to bear. Awesome share.
That is some good stuff, all of that right hand and pick technique is priceless. Thanks for turning us onto Mr. Sutton he is a treasure of knowledge
Uncle Larry’s interview skills are on point!!!
YES. That was seriously such a great interview.
What a pleasure it is to listen to a master talk about his craft. You both cut through the noise. Many and much thanks !!

Tom, thank you so much for this. I learn so much from Bryan, too. His flowing, light touch reminds me of Jack Pearson’s style.
