Bringing back the classic engine note from the 996/993 era, LOVE IT!
FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE UNDERSTANDS
Going to miss that Corvette thunder and that Porsche scream.
At least they didn’t turn the new Corvette into a 4 door electric soccer van.
Yeah the RSR now sounds like a Ford GTLM ...
Too bad the Porsche sounds like ass now
The Porsche scream is still alive just only in the GT3R
@@romanalbrecht3568 ever heard of the 996, 993, 956, 962, 964? To me this rsr sounds like that and not the Ford GT
For those wondering, the exhaust was moved to the side to increase space and size of the rear diffuser.
I also read that it was so that it wouldn't get damaged if it got hit from behind.
@@rockrollinnolan8521 They had problems with that a lot over the years with the last model
delrdiego and also to save weight
Miss the old sound, but man, the way that this thing sings runs chills down my spine. Definitely the demonic sounding car on the grid.
It is old sound, very similar to 996 rsr. This is how porsche rsr used to sound, the high pitch comes later in 997 generation.
Ardi Januar and 964
Is there a way to petition for tailpipes again?
Cry more.
NtsParadize ok boomer
@@iiPolaris Ok zoomer
You mean like this?---> turn up the sound around 0.39 and later ruclips.net/video/FKOki34YkK4/видео.html ..... regardless of the belittling "OK Boomer" comment below.
@@Spyker8921 fuck those zoomers up king
Now im really sad that i didn't get to hear the other RSR in person....
Saw its farewell race in ATL at PLM a couple of weekends ago. It was glorious and will be missed!
Missing the old high reving rsr... 😞
My first race was Road Atlanta, glad i got to hear the old 911RSR and the old C7R too. Also to see the ford GT. I'm hooked !
What happened to the glorious flat 6 sound ? 😰😰
Exhaust pipes now exit each side
Yeah, who knew changing the exhaust around would ruin that screaming noise it had.
Basically it is running two 3 cylinder engines now, just like Ford did with their V6.
@@samharris3508 sucks but they clean up the diffuser area and they get a little more engine torque according to Racecar Engineering. That's why I want to go to Le Mans next year if there are a ton of 2018 RSRs in GTE Am
@@joe718gt4 and sadly that will be the last time to hear those cars aswell since next year all the customers will be running this crap sounding version
I loved ur editing with the sound of that roar building up from Turn 1 to the hairpin. Nice, felt like I was there.
Thanks Steve! I copied that from the video of the RSR I got last November. I'm going to make a video later in the week comparing them and maybe with the one from a few years ago.
Not quite as good sounding as the predecessor but still damn nice!
ew is all i can say, rip the best sound on earth
RIP to the most annoying race car on the track. If you ever visited a race, you'll know that it gave the majority of people headaches and literally drowned out every single car in the field. RUclips doesn't show how God awful it was in person.
@@trentonuab False
Trent Michel having been to two Le Mans 24hr races I can deny this claim
Trent Michel how can a human say that a loud screaming car sounds bad?
@@trentonuab everyone has their own opinions but really?
That’s a great looking car, especially from the back
911's look best from the back.
I love the sound of this
Hard to come after those tail pipes. The previous gen will not be forgotten.
Your videos are always awesome, I used to be the truck driver for MRN radio for 8 years, your videos bring back memories
Thanks Frank! I spent a lot of time listening to MRN in my younger days.
@@LankyTurtle I did too, could not believe when they hired me back in 2005😂😂
So I am 81 years old, owned an XK-140 Jaguar and an E-Type Jaguar. I have never understood why so many people talk about the sound. I've read a number of entries, here, and elsewhere, and a lot of them are focused on the sound. I remember gas turbines, and they had a sound, which no one talked about. I anticipate electric cars with no sound. Then a number of people will have nothing to talk about.
Wide and flat as a badger with similar disposition, it seems. Thanks!
There’s hope left. The engineers behind the glorious 991.2 RSR started off with kinda sound too but eventually found a way to make it scream like it did this season. Maybe those tailpipes aren’t gone yet. Let them find their way...
I made a video I'm putting up tomorrow (probably) comparing those two versions with this one.
Lanky Turtle cool! I’m surely going to watch it!
Sounds bloody epic
Those side exhausts ruined it. Now GTLM AM sounds better.
Performance it's first.. sad but true
If this is the unit that beats the vettes, I am all. In !!!! BEST OF LUCK TO TEAM PORSCHE! !!!😄😄😄😎😎🚘🍺🍺🍺
It's almost as if Ford never left, great...
The Chopard Graphic 💦⌚️
The exhaust is broken.
comme d'hab, un grand merci à mon ami LT! ;) toujours sur le terrain!
As always, BIg big big up to my friend LT! ;) always on da field for da some hot news mate!
Thanks Hassein!
Love it! Side exhaust is just a thing.....but I love how Porsche cleaned up that rear diffuser!
Sounds like an IndyCar
The Cayman in it's natural environment, the Florida swamps.
it‘s not a cayman, it is a 911
@@stefan64s Try again ,there's no 911, that is mid mounted. These are based on the Cayman chassis.
@@nssherlock4547 They're not "based on the Cayman chassis", they're based on the chassis family that comprises of 911 and 718/Cayman/Boxster. It's been effectively the same modular chassis concept adapted to engine position and track widths since the 996 and 986.
Its still well and truly porsche for sure
JESUS CHRIST THAT THING IS SO FREAKING LOUD, AND I THOUGHT YOU COULD HEAR THE FORD AROUND A TRACK WITH SIDE EXHAUSTS. I'MMA LOVE AND HATD IMSA BECAUSE I'LL BE ABLE TO HEAR THIS THING NO MATTER WHERE I AM. THE AMOUNT OF RAW VOLUME BLASTING PAST YOU IS ASTRONOMICAL.
I'mma miss the ford gt tho. IMSA won't be the same without that stupid buzzer 😢
The outgoing RSR was wayyyy louder.
jason gill yes a ton louder
That Caps Lock tho
Nope just the tone and pitch making it seem louder but this is still that loud like the last one especially with the side exhaust which makes the car louder when approaching
Porsche RSR: started as an "F you" to the turbo craze in motorsport...ended up being vastectomied into the Ford weed eater.
2018: Corvette - Sidepipes; Porsche - Tailpipes, 2019: Corvette - Tailpipes, Porsche - Sidepipes
-It seems it's not normally aspirated anymore...- It is NA, 4.2 B6
I don't mind the change of tone... But is it still louder than three other cars combined?
Sounds like it. But I much preferred that screaming flat 6
This just sounds... generic.
Absolutely, I was at Silverstone and it still is the loudest car in the field. For the spectators it feels even louder because the exhausts are blasting straight at you now and not out of the back.
Oh yeah, this thing is LOUD
It's real loud but not as distinct as the higher pitch they've been running.
was hoping you'd bring the goods after i saw three trucks in staging when we rolled in for the encore yesterday. thanks!
That's how I found out they were there!
As you can see by the big diffuser Porsche is again using the mid-engine Cayman chassis for the new RSR just like in the 991 version. One of these days maybe Porsche will finally make the production version of the 911 mid-engine as well. Even Corvette threw in the towel and came onboard.
Still sounds good! And engineering/performance before sound for a works team that is in a developing proces. What are you all even thinking, most of you people...
Excellent camera work
I'm glad they stayed at atmospheric engine, but the roar older version made me mistaken
Damn that sound is mean and the Corvette C8 GT3 race car as well.
There is no GT3 version yet but we will have to see if Callaway(the company that prepares the GT3 version) is interested in racing a C8 in GT3 competition.
I could also respect their choice to stay with the C7 platform.
although side exhausts look cleaner, really do miss the rear ones. •́︿•̀
Sounds like a true Porsche (996 RSR).
Mid Engine is great. Porsche 718 Cayman GTS, great car for those of us who can't afford a mid engine race car. Balance, cornering and fast.
The Sound..🤔
Quality footage again ... I am follower now
Thank you!
Fastest Cayman yet...
The sound 🤤
It's just as loud as the previous one but sounds a bit worse imo
I’ve heard this car in real life at the 2020 12 hours of Sebring and the thing is way way way louder than the corvettes and the prototypes. And yes I know it has a naturally aspirated flat 6
sounds crap, compared to the out going car.
hopefully Brabham come to IMSA with their car after its in the WEC cause thats the only decent sounding car left.
Stop talking rubbish, theres plenty of great sounding race cars, this being one of them.
Lamborghini Huracan? That V10 sounds great
I have heard both at WEC test and I can say its loud af but yeah the sound is different and worse sadly
Yeah it's definitely a lot different. I've made a video comparing the two with the RSR from a few years ago, from the same areas of the track. I'm going to put it up next week.
@@LankyTurtle Sounds great ! Cant wait
So sad....one of the beest things about IMSA is the various sounding cars. I guess 2020 means no screaming cars left in the series. HSR is looking better all the time.
not bad.. sound good but prefer another
Rip the 911 and Corvette amazing sounds
thats my favorite sounding Porsche now
You have a brave opinion
You're wrong
It’s ok to have wrong opinions
Eli Hoopengarner mate older porsche racecars sounded like this before the 997-present era
This sounds like a small V8
Looks like a GT1 car
Wow this awesome sound:D
Theres a lot more ducting now
Beautiful.
How do you always find out when the teams are testing
I read a lot of racing articles and follow most of the teams on twitter and make a note of it if they mention testing dates. I only knew about this because I went to the race Sunday and saw the Porsche transporters parked out there. I miss a lot of teams too.
Sounds...interesting
Not a better spot ?
Defenitly reminds me the 996, sounds good but mannn that rear is way too large 😷
Rear wing is too large?? It's a race car you flippin goof. Function over form
@@MrPorsche91730 not the wing but the car 🥴
Oops. Sorry. I guess I'm the flippin goof
Mr. Turtle, how do you know about all this testing going on at various Florida tracks?
I read a lot of racing articles and follow most of the teams on twitter and make a note of it if they mention testing dates. I only knew about this because I went to the race Sunday and saw the Porsche transporters parked out there. Some teams test there and I don't know about it, like I always miss the Mazda DPi test somehow.
Quite interesting👍🎼
This is based of the 991.2 correct?
not a porsche sound at all?
Need bigger silencer
What is this car based on the Cayman? And what motor is that?
Zone Television they’re joking that because the engine is now mid mounted (ctr of gravity in front of rear wheels)....combined with that castrated engine note.....that it might as well be a boxster or cayman
PLEASE tell me you will be at the Daytona classic this weekend??
As of now I'm planning on going to Thursday night practice and on sunday. Unfortunately I likely won't be able to go Saturday because of work.
@@LankyTurtle Ah dang. Well fingers crossed you can snag some footage of the Pratt & Miller Vettes. Single biggest gathering of them in the US: 2 C5R's, 1 C6R GT1 and 1 C7R :-)
That's reason enough to go right there! They should all be out there Thurs night then. It's good to get to a vintage weekend early anyway because sometimes all the cars don't make it to the start of the race.
@@LankyTurtle Thanks! Ill be there as well and will look forward to your videos :-)
Who was the driver?
I believe Patrick Pilet was driving in this video.
Is that turn 7 hairpin?
Yep turn 7 then the run from 7 to 10. The last few shots are turn 10 and 13.
I'm waiting for the screaming roar...but it never comes. Sad
All the comments seem negative and though I do love the old rsr the down shifts on this thing sound demonic and oddly satisfying.
I agree, I'm excited to see it in person
So bummed, the new car sounds like a bunch of bees in a cardboard box.
Ooooohhh. Nice
Close your eyes and it could be a GTE, DTM, F3, WRC or whatever...
Or a 996 RSR
NtsParadize or a 964 or the 2000s prototypes or the 935,965 IT SOUNDS LIKE PORSCHE
Or 964 or the 2000s prototypes or the 935,965 IT SOUNDS LIKE PORSCHE
Noooooo it's just not the same
It's a shame now with sll performance cars all most people care about is sound. Not looks or performance just sound.
When was this
Earlier today.
No Ford GT (racing heritage, lol), and C8R and Porsche now sound officially dull. I guess IMSA took a page out of the "let's make this worse" F1 playbook.
Kind of neat looking, but doesn’t sound nearly as good as RSRs of the past imo 😕
The 996 RSR is a RSR of the past and it sounds exactly like this one.
So much negativity here, OK I understand that it sounds different, but in the Rolex at Daytona, I'll be there and I'll be the judge, not the same in person than thru the phone, but if moving the exhaust to the side giving more space for a bigger diffuser increasing the performance of the car, well I don't care, what matters is winning, remember this is the factory team, all the other Porsche private teams they still have the OLD RSR, this new car is not available yet, probably next year, so we can enjoy both sound
Sounds so generic now :'(
Sounds great! Bottom line
It no longer sound like a Porsche
So the 996 RSR didn't sound like a Porsche?
things change for the better, I wouldnt want to hear that loud and crisp sound from an NA flat 6 for 10 years.
Well not really change because older porsches sounded like this before the 997-present era began
bishiyota and thats why things change, so that we can hear old stuff again
Sounds like insane farting.
damn
👊✌
To this day there is still no better sound than a 917K motor hitting full throttle (was there less) in third gear. Too bad there are so many "touchy feely" pussies out there. Don't like the open sound...don't attend, and keep your little "chest papoose" at home, with you.
Well, yawn. Progress taketh away the best sounding car in racing.
Well historically porsche gt racecars from the past sounded like this so for a porsche fan or enthusiast this is straight throwback to those days
C8 won’t win a single race
This broad is getting w i d e r
:(
Fart RSR is back..... :(
Thats a nice 718 Hahahahaha...Sie tauschen niemanden Porsche!
Why can't they make real cars this aggressive looking?? Why not??
Cute Volkswagen I guess, not sure why this crap showed up in a Ford man's feed but okay. Sounds like a broken vacuum cleaner to me.
