  • Some clips from June 2012. Very snowy conditions made a very slow progress but still enjoyed it very much.
Note to self: Bring more batteries for the GoPro next time.

Thanks for the reply! It looks a lot more demanding than from ground level passing by on the glacier. When snow/ice-free the Breithorn ridge looks really crumbly - scary! I think that I will do easier ones next year; Pollux, Allalinhorn, Weismiess, maybe the easier parts of the Breithorn Traverse, Alphubel and maybe the Monch. Those are all F/PD level. I did find Castor a bit scary on the final snow ridge and very hard work hiking up the West face in the fresh snow. Thanks again!

In case you haven't seen it, if you search RUclips for the following video title you can see what the ridge looks like snow/ice free: "Traversata dei Breithorn"

Hello, very good video. I have been hoping for some better videos of the Breithorn traverse.
Was this the standard Breithorn traverse route?
How much belaying was possible on this route?
After about 36 seconds in the video you appear to be on an icy vertical slab with no belay - did you really have no belay?
I am a novice climber and hope to climb Pollux and others next year. I have already climbed Castor and Breithorn main summit. With a 1 to 1 guide, is the traverse suitable for a novice?
