Tip for any women getting a section soon: STAY ON TOP OF STOOL SOFTENERS! Don’t take stimulants, but take a couple different osmotics and some fiber. So for instance, 1 colace 3x a day, MiraLax 1x a day and fiber 1x a day. I didn’t think much about it my first time around (pretty dumb for a nurse) and suffered for it. Second time I did the above and had a MUCH better experience. Remember: birth already makes your intestines freak out and slow down, but major surgery and pain medications are just going to make that worse. So you HAVE to stay on top of it.

For me it was the opposite. Since I couldn't get out of bed the first few days, I was grateful to not poop my bed, or to have to push with my dead core muscles. I had prepared a whole set of such interventions in my hospital bag (osmotic, magnesium) and ended up not using them at all.

Ive just had a C-section 3 weeks ago, the shakes and "washing dishes in my abdomen" was so real 😅😅😅!
But the initial tugging was so minor i was surprised. I just kept chatting with my husband, blissfully unaware anyone was already doing the real operation on me, when a doctor's face with smiling eyes popped over the curtain with a "youll feel a bit of pressure now, thats you giving birth!" And a few seconds later my daughter was screaming and flying over the curtain Simba style. You can tell I've loved my C-section! ❤❤❤

I had a c-section last month after a failed induction + super imposed preeclampsia. They did such a good job numbing me, I didn’t feel a thing and had my boyfriend narrate what was going on down there since I couldn’t see. I was so scared since I’d never had surgery before but I would do a c-section again in a heartbeat.

    • @jinx18e
      @jinx18e 4 месяца назад +1

Why? The recovery is awful compared to a vaginal birth. If it's about pain during birth it's still not worth it. The pain afterwards is like a couple of weeks compared to a couple of months.

    • @heatherrehr
      @heatherrehr 3 месяца назад +3

My c-section healing has went really well. The only pain I experienced was just the normal uterine cramps post delivery that were eased with ibuprofen. I say “again” because I have a medical condition that would make me an unlikely candidate for a VBAC. They also discovered that the induction medication likely caused a mild placental abruption so I’m happy that I said yes to the c-section when I did or else we both (baby and I) might have been in much worse shape. Sure, I would love to have had the vaginal birth I’ve always dreamed of but I have my baby boy and that’s all that matters to me.

As soon as they numbed me I felt myself pee and apologized. lol
I also threw up while being worked on (can't remember if it was two or three). It's awful to vomit while on your back, but my anesthesiologist was awesome and had the bean bin ready when I said I felt like I had to. Then he was sweet enough to clean the vomit off my face and off my ear.
I got the shakes when I was in recovery, and I just assumed it was because my body was in shock. I was numb for a whole day, which was wild. I got a sneak peek at what it's like to be paralyzed.
My husband was there and I got to see my daughter and her full head of dark hair. Then threw up again. lol I was stitched up and rushed to recovery, so it was amazing when I finally got to see her. She latched on immediately, and it's honestly one of my favorite pictures of us.

I felt everything toward the end right before they got to the baby. I felt my skin ripping the insane burning as the doctors told me not to move. And I even felt when they laid my uterus on my stomach to stitch it up. My epidural failed totally. I remember asking to see my son so I could kiss him goodbye and telling my husband to take care of the children and that I loved him and I think I'm going to die. I yelled at the doctor to knock me out NOW!! I could absolutely not take the pain for one more minute. So they did and I woke up in my room and soon I was allowed to see my husband but by the a day later they had to pull the staples out because I started to run a very high fever and was in a tremendous amount of pain. I had developed a staph infection and spent over a week in the hospital and had to be put on very strong antibiotics for a couple months. I never should have ever had to have a c section in the first place. The doctor assisting in the surgery was very angry at my doctor who had started before he got in the operating room and when he got there I was not only fully dilated but the baby was halfway out so they had to push the baby back in and out the incision he was breach and could have been born just fine. The assistant came to see me several times. He said he was so sorry and to stay strong and he didn't want to loose me. My doctor never checked on me he knew there were many mistakes made. I v backed 3 children after the c section even though it was not advised. But I did just fine and have 5 amazing beautiful children and 4 amazing beautiful grandchildren.

I was 19 when this happened. I was on Medicaid at the time and I'm sure that is why my doctor pushed for the c-section to make more money. Just look for a doctor who has experience in breach delivery. By baby turned around completely he had been in the head down position for weeks but once my contractions started he didn't like that and I couldn't stop him from turning I tried. By the time I got to the doctor office I was dilated 8cm.

I wish I would have known about that sooner, but after 50 hours of labor I was toast - so I’m sure it was hormones, stress, and exhaustion along with meds. Also, oxygenated but felt short of breath - but they had to get in to get baby out. I am so grateful! Thank you for sharing this info! So different experiencing it vs learning about it in OB during nursing school. The amazing beauty of

C section or vaginal the number one thing is a healthy baby, but I strongly recommend watching some RUclips videos on how to avoid cesareans.
Sometimes it’s due to things you can’t prevent like placenta previa.
Sometimes it’s because of a breech baby, spinning babies is an AMAZING resource for that.
There’s so many reasons of course, but I had a cesarean in 2016, and then I had a vaginal birth in 2022. If I didn’t do my research o would’ve 100% ended up as a repeat c section patient. Know your rights. Know your body. And do your research 🩷 good luck mama!

I had a horrible anesthesiologist who was in a very bad mood and snapped at me several times. The first time was giving me pitocin, the second was giving me the epidural, and then starting the c-section because I never dilated more than 4 centimeters, I felt the incision. He said that I didn’t. Um, yes, I did. A few minutes later I didn’t, though. And I thought the shakes were because I was so cold. I’ve learned so much from you about how childbirth should have been. I felt so uncomfortable about my surroundings that it’s no wonder things didn’t go well. Thanks for letting others know and giving them a voice so their experience is a happier one. The only consolation is my son is a great kid, now 34, and I’m proud of the man he’s become.

I was really numbed up thankfully cuz I have a history of trouble being numbed, so much so I felt *nothing* no pressure nothing. I did feel nauseous and that was awful cuz I wanted to cough to throw up but couldn't get a deep enough breath so that was a scary feeling but they just sucked out any of the stomach acid that came up. I barely remember any of it - apparently the amniotic fluid splashed on the floor and my partner told me when they took our daughter out but I was not really fully *there*. I remember the nurses saying she had a perfect head lol. The numbing process was worse than I thought it would be (because of having to sit up and bend over) but other than that and the numbing starting to wear off while they stitched me up it was pretty good. I do remember the surgeon also talking to the resident about making sure you line stuff up, etc and all I could think about was please please please let this be the last layer but it usually wasn't lmao. Darn all those layers! 😂

When I had my son via c-section 2 years ago, two things happened that I didn't expect. I'm having my third (and last) baby in 3 months via c-section again, and I'm worried about these things happening again because it was SO uncomfortable... Tina, any insight?
    1. When the numbness kicked in, I felt like my body was on an incline. It felt like my head was lower than my body (kind of like I was hanging upside-down, I don't know how else to explain it)
    2. I couldn't breathe through my nose! It felt like my nose was plugged, like when you're sick and your nose is stuffy (but my nose wasn't running). It made it SO much more stressful because my anxiety was already through the roof, and I was trying to breathe through it... but I couldn't breathe in through my nose. But as soon as I was out of the OR, my nose was back to normal.
    What's up with those things!?
Thank you so much for making content like this. You are awesome, and your videos are so helpful 🙏❤️

I’m not a doctor or anything just have similar experiences. Although this didn’t happen to me during my c section personally these symptoms happen to me when my nervous system is wack! Specifically my vagus nerve causes issues with breathing through my nose (it almost feels like my nose literally just sealed shut!)Stress and anxiety are definitely big triggers for me.

Your head was probably lower they had me to one side for a few minutes and weirdly enough what you feel directly before/while getting numb tends to stick around after because it's the last thing you felt. I felt the woman spreading my bits to put my catheter in so for like EVER I felt like a gloved hand was on my crotch lol it was SO WEIRD
But I could be wrong just from my own experience. I just had my second and I'm not sure my body can handle another section I know this incision is already alllll jacked up it's crooked and my section shelf is so big and I HATE it but the bonus I think of is another baby but also them fixing the incision and straightening it up with another one lol

Nobody had Everr told me about the shakes and I had also never heard about it..even with alllll the researching I had done before having my first baby, still NOTHING. I gave birth vaginally and afterwards I started shaking SOO badly that I quite literally thought that I was dieing! I said something to my doc. Like "there's something veryy wrong! I'm shaking badly, like there's something wrong with me"..She just kinda brushed it off and said so nonchalantly "you're ok, it's normal". I still questioned it to 3 other nurses and after they all told me the same thing and 1 explaining to me that it was because of the huge jump in hormones, I finally believed them enough to calm down...although I was still shaking, I wasn't panicking about it😂
Even now when I look back at it, I am surprised and shocked at how I never heard about this before! IMO, AlLLLLl of the possible symptoms needs to be talked about WAY, WAAAY more!😅

What surprised me the most was how little i remember of those first hours. I must have been very drugged or idk. I'm still grieving that fact - and the fact that they didn't give me the baby right away but just took him away. They didn't even turn him towards me to show him to me. Since his Apgar score is perfect, I don't think there was anything urgent about him, nor did anyone explain anything to me. When I finally got him (after I was stitched up and taken to the recovery room), I literally don't remember my first moments with my baby.😢 The other thing that surprised me is how long it was hard after that. I could barely get out of bed or walk for a long time so much so that I had to use a potty to pee in the night because i couldn't make it in time. A friend said she was at the shopping mall just a week after hers (😮), maybe i got the short straw... I thought of myself as a fit person and exercised throughout my whole pregnancy. That first walk outside when I managed to cross the street and back, I cried. It was HARD.

The doctor was jerking me/ my daughter so hard I was coming off the table. I felt intense pressure build and creep up until I couldn't breathe, and I passed out. After I was awake the doctor came back to check if I was bleeding properly and I wasn't so he smushed my abdomen and blood squirted out of the surgery site, and I started draining properly.
My Mom, who is not squeamish at all, almost fainted. I am past the age of child birth, but I would never recommend that doctor to anyone.
He also wouldn't let me have a v back.
I really wanted to avoid another surgery. My natural birth 2 years before went smoothly. I recovered so much faster. I recommend a natural birth. It was so much better recovering from a natural birth than even my first, who I had an epidural because I was scared of the pain. The really bad pain doesn't really last long, and then everything is a relief after that.

Or it can go like this...a forced induction that lead to two days of labor and when you finally reach 7cm Dr rushes in and says baby heart rate is dropping from being in labor so long(I was 0/0 going in baby was not ready) so now we are going in for emergency c section. You got the pulling tugging talk and when you felt PAIN ACTUAL 10/10 PAIN and you do vocalize this your told multiple times it's only pressure I am just confused. Heart rate shoots up to 180 your begging for relief and keep getting told what your claiming to feel is not possible. Now you have such horrible trauma you can't get a tooth pulled without panicking. You have since had two more c sections that were completely normal and just confirmed what you felt the first time. SOMETIMES it can go like this😢

My anesthesiologist was HORRIBLE! My birth was quite traumatic because the epidural stopped working and actually had to have an emergency C-section where he said “you can’t feel anything you have the epidural” when I told the nurses and doctor I could feel everything they did to me so he just put me under and I woke up feeling the entire surgery. My shakes were more like seizures because of the immense pain I was in from having no numbing whatsoever and lasted hours and the fundal massages made it 10x worse 🙃 10/10 do NOT recommend

For my 2nd emergency c-section (8 years later) the baby had dropped into my pelvis a week before & was apparently stuck. During the operation, my body was jangling around on the stretcher & I threw up twice. So much pressure & then gasping from the attending nurses.! The doctor had reached up into my uterus to grab the baby’s feet & wrenched her upwards! Then out of the incision she came & there was my first beautiful daughter! Not quite as scary as my first c-section, but a lot more physically traumatic. Healed up better though, due to lots more help at home. 😅

I was surprised about how limited my field of view was! In hind sight I wish I had a clear drape for all 3 c sections. I couldn’t feel anything in any of my c sections, but I was surprised that my body felt warm with the epidural (like, my legs felt like they were toasty warm).

It felt like the docs were trying to pull out my left bottom rib. I actually did feel pain but i was also really out of it because i was having a hard time breathing.
Had the same anesthesiologist for 2 of my c-sections. He had a fantastic sense of humor and everyone in the OR swapped dad-jokes when i was being sewn up both times (husband was with baby).
Also, if you get a spinal tap you can feel itchy as the medication wears off. My bones felt itchy. Ive only been given benadryl to help with it and benadryl can make you sleepy.

My placenta ruptured so they rushed us to get my emergency c-section. I had received an epidural earlier, but it only worked like 75 percent on my right side, and I still felt everything on my left. I got out under and intubated and they were able to safely get my daughter out. Unfortunately I had no spinal of numbing and woke up in unbelievable pain since my epidural hadn’t worked like it should. Took over an hour for them to get me anything to help with the pain. I’m grateful that both my daughter and I were safe and healthy, but man, did that suck.

I'm confused how are you feeling anything while you are on the operation table? Is it not common everywhere to be under full narcosis while having a C-section? I only ever heard about C-sections being done while you are completely knocked out.

I labored and then had a prolapse cord and was sent straight to the OR. I had a vaginal birth the first time so this was unexpected and I didn’t know what to expect. I’m now postpartum four days and it’s still hard figuring things out.

So I could feel them cut into me during my C-section, And they kept telling me I couldn't and then they put me under after all these alarms started going off. Is there any way you could tell what happened because nobody explained it to me.

My daughter crawled back In during the c section. I guess it was too cold for her outside . My Doctor had to go and push her out from under my ribs by sticking her hands under and pushing. I felt it but no pain. I also had a boggy uterus , so I got massaged alot.

With my oldest son they had me rocking on the or table trying ro get him out cause he had a big head. With my youngest they had to give me a shot in my shoulder to help my uterus contract but i couldnt breastfeed for 12hrs and i hated it. I also was in alot of pain due to the fact i had just had a C-section and had my tubes tied at the same time. I had pain in my groin off and on almost daily. Now i still occasionally get groin pain and that was almost 5yrs ago

Nobody ever mentioned the fact that you can loose feeling around your incision… and it may never come back. It’s been 10 years and I still have an approximately 4 inch wide band that stretches from hip to hip following my incision scar that I can only feel pressure and not actual pain like sharp objects poking the area. Really freaked me out at the first check up after being released, I asked the doc when I would get feeling in my belly button/incision area again and he said it might never come back and it just happens sometimes.

I had the best doctor when I had my daughter 2 years ago. Hardly felt anything other than some nausea but didn't get puke. She was a breech baby and I had severe anxiety that almost put me into labor several times so they thought a C-section would be best. Other than them pushing on my stomach afterwards to remove blood clots I would do it again because I do get complications and have issues.
