      The Minnesota bigs in general won the game. KAT was their best overall player, Gobert's presence anchored their defense, Naz Reid was the ideal energy bench guy. Minnesota won by just being the bigger, more physical team in a game 7 rock fight. This game feels a lot like the 2010 Finals Game 7, complete with the star SG of the winning team shooting 6-24. Size still matters.

    Perhaps the most insightful comment about basketball ever made was by Coach Popovic, the year Danny Green was going crazy in the playoffs hitting threes. The poor reporter asked him something about what he did to make their offense so good, and Pop tartly replied: "Your offense always looks good when the ball goes in." As my daughter used to say, "the vice is versa as well." That leads to the simple analysis of why Denver lost this game. They played fine in the third quarter, got their shots from all of their guys, but just missed them. All of their starters missed open shots they usually make. This shook their confidence and gave Minnesota energy. But it was not till the fourth quarter that Minny played like they did in game two, with an incredible combination of great D and unbelievable shot making. The poor shooting of the third quarter then met the best defense in the league in the fourth, and the only player on Denver who had any belief he could score by then was the Joker, but he was gassed, and Towns and Reid defended him as well as anyone ever has, thus minimizing his impact.

    I think the Nuggets will do a lot of rethinking this summer, and looking at Murray, Porter and Jackson have to realize (especially about Murray) that this lineup isnt as timeless as they hoped it would be (that will be painful especially since they have that family vibe).
    The Wolves on the other hand, Conley had a rought start and Towns needs more confidence but basically everyone, went hard and never gave up and helped each other. Ive never seen a team that was consistently, game in and game out, this well focused, on both ends, I have so so much respect for them now, and I wasnt even a fan of the Wolves. But I am now. He had a 34-19-7 on 13/28 FG. Jokic isn’t the reason they lost the game. Pope and Porter couldn’t hit anything and Edwards contained Murray in the second half. Jokic did what he could. Sure, he didn’t shoot well from three but you can’t really ask much more of him in this series. He averaged a 29-11-8 with almost two steals and a block on over 50% shooting against the best defense in the NBA. I was rooting for Minnesota but no, there shouldn’t be any critique of Jokic after this one outside of saying that he should work on his outside shot.

    • @zeus4885
      @zeus4885 13 дней назад +1

      Nah, he will get a ton of criticism because this makes their title seem like more of a fluke. This was the first time since 2022 they played a team that wasn’t in the play-in and he shoots 45% and 2-10 from 3PT, didn’t defend well and was a -9 in the +/-. That isn’t how MVPs perform in Game 7’s and this will hurt his reputation

      @@zeus4885Okay and what about game six? Jokic was the only guy on his team who scored more than 12 points. He put his team up with a legendary performance in game 5 and then showed up for games six and seven moreso than any other players on the Nuggets. I watched the whole series and I thought Jokic did what he could against a truly great defense. His teammates weren’t there at times.

    Thankfully, Russillo is the only Ringer person who stands up to Bill. Bill needs to remember the draft night love he had for Luka.

      Yeah pretty clear the Nuggets just don't have the depth. Their starting 5 might be the best in the league but their 2 best bench guys all season were a 2nd year wing and an undersized rookie rim protector. Wolves having Reid alone coming off the bench is a huge advantage over Nuggets bench, and he's only one of 4 capable and trusted bench guys.
      Reid is going to get big payday soon and if I were the T Wolves front office I'd be the one paying him and moving on from KAT for a load of assets.
