    A friend of mine traded his 23 Charger Scat Pack wide body for one of these. The build quality is impeccable and it has a screaming V8. The only downside is the stock exhaust is pretty quiet. He got an aftermarket exhaust (I can't remember the brand) that sounds incredible but it was 1,900 dollars. His is black with red leather. It's awesome and no problems so far. His Scat Pack had suspension and interior rattles but never left him stranded.

Nobody wants a muffled Lexus V8 anyone who buys that car knows they could have payed less for the similar looking V6 version and had a quiet car. Plus all the Lexus aftermarket exhausts offer valves you can buy to close when you want it more quiet so you get the best of both worlds and no drone on highway . I had the launch is500 launch edition...there's no comparison between shifts on lexus vs m340i even when warmed up (which I had after), the ZF 8HP Transmission. That being said, the soul of the is500 hits different once you go back to it. Comes down to what you value more in day to day driving.

  • @stocksxbondage
    @stocksxbondage Месяц назад

    My hot take. I have a GS350. Lexus are cheap to own, but massively overpriced. The high purchase price nullifies the economy aspect of cheap ownership. You can get a 50k Lexus or an even better performing and luxurious German car for 30-40k. The ‘difference’ in maintenance cost will even out. You get more from a M340i over an IS500 yet spend the same money on either purchase price/payments and maintenance. Fuel cost is another negative aspect of naturally aspirated engines. Very reliable, but nearly an additional $1000 per year at the pump compared to a less reliable turbocharged car. I’m keeping my Lexus because I’ve already paid the cost (purchase price) and additional cost like maintenance and gas is predictable. However, I’d probably have spent the same amount on a depreciated Beamer just in maintenance rather than high purchase price from the Lexus. High resale isn’t always good esp not on a car you’re gonna daily and put miles on. You, the buyer, are the bag holder. It’s only good news for people buying brand new and holding long term.

    • @yousef.al-assaf
      @yousef.al-assaf Месяц назад

      You're talking from the perspective of someone who wants to go from A to B in the most efficient way. Driving experience doesn't matter to you it seems. The V8 alone makes the IS500 a joy to drive compared to anything in its price-range.
      With your logic, you should get a Prius and call it a day.

    • @stocksxbondage
      @stocksxbondage Месяц назад +2

      @@yousef.al-assaf Actually I’m talking from the perspective of a person that’s daily driven Lexus (and Mercedes) for 15 years straight.
      Nothing wrong with a Prius if that’s what you want. Using your all-or-nothing logic, you shouldn’t half step with an IS500. You should get a Porsche GT2RS or a Prius. One extreme or the other. Nothing in between. I’m comparing IS500 to a M340i so I really don’t understand what you mean.

    • @ARentz07
      @ARentz07 Месяц назад +1

      @@stocksxbondage I've owned both an IS 350 and a 500, and let me tell you - for only sacrificing 2-3 MPG, you get a much more fun driving experience. Does it feel similar to the 350 at times? Absolutely. But, that engine is always in the background, purring away. It's what makes the car special. I've got no regrets on upgrading.

    • @stocksxbondage
      @stocksxbondage Месяц назад

      @@ARentz07 Okay I’ve read my comment again just to be sure. Yall simply aren’t reading my comment in full. At no point did I compare one Lexus to another Lexus. I’m comparing the price of buying and owning a Lexus to a comparable German alternative. A comparable Audi, BMW, or Mercedes-AMG is objectively a better package for a sports car. However, the selling point of Lexus is despite being inferior in almost every way, performance and luxury wise, the maintenance is cheap and infrequent! The Achilles heel of Lexus right now is that their purchase price is too high and their N/A engines are not fuel efficient compared to turbos. Even M cars depreciate like a stone. You can get an M3 or M5 for 40-45k or an IS500 with its outdated tech and interior for 55-60k right now. Even if something catastrophic happens with your BMW, you’re spending as much as you would on the Lexus. Point is, if you have 60k to spend on a sports car just get the German car for 40-50k and save the 10-20k for maintenance and you have a better car than the Lexus.
      You can get a m550i with tt 4.4 v8 and less than 30k miles for 35-40k.

    • @ARentz07
      @ARentz07 27 дней назад

      @@stocksxbondage Sorry, your comment about a Prius or GT2RS honestly couldn't be more wrong. Some people need to have daily drivers that can do more than sip fuel, or maybe fun weekend cars that can also get groceries, depending on how you look at it.
