Being a 70s kid I grew up with Boston,The Eagles,KISS,Foreigner and the list goes on. I need music more than ever with an emptiness in my heart with the passing of my girlfriend of 40 years and my daughter dying in my arms last year. So,thank you for all the hard work that goes into making music for us.
So sorry for your loss, my deepest condolences. May you find peace in your heart and if this awesome, timeless music does it, then rock on and God bless you!

Right on, man! I am usually a snob for the original, but these guys did an amazing job. I still remember the day that album first landed in stores. Just legend.
Me as well, have probably played through side two of the first album on my drums more than 5,000 times, I was 14 back in 1976, my favorite album of all time!
@@fz0gtg Moved out to a very rural area 12 yrs ago, and I put an ad in Craigslist for an acoustic guitar player for me to play bass with just for fun. A guy about a half mile from my place was the first to respond. I find out he is a huge Boston fan too. He was just learning to play drums, about a year into the process. We became friends. A year after I met him he went into a coma for a few months. He got a severe fungal infection in his lungs. When he finally woke up and eventually came home from the hospital, he was barely able to use a walker and his mind had lost a lot of function. Four months after he came home, he passed. Wow!! At 63, I cannot tell you how many times I have enjoyed this song over the many decades. This collaboration proves what can be achieved when master musicians get together to reproduce a classic - this is pure full-on enjoyment and pure genius!! Congratulations to everyone who put themselves in full artistic mode to work on this - it’s truly Heaven on Earth!! Thank you.
Agree, 1000%… they really brought their own personalities and styles to this song… I could never stand covers that are 100% perfect carbon copies; this is a fantastic band…
agreed...all very good musicians....and anyone that will take on Brad Delp's vocals and can pull off a rendition like that deserves hats off, for sure. Great video.
Let me add: Oh my god. This is the cover version that all others will be measured against.. Absolutely faithful to the original and yet, somehow a revelation of every instrument, every part, every passage. I am awe-struck and humbled. I hope Tom has heard this.
This is a masterpiece! One of the things about Mike Portnoy that I love SO MUCH, is that he knows when it's appropriate to play straight and when it's appropriate to play it flashy. He's an enormous talent and a joy to listen to.
I didn’t see the title showing everyone here and was really floored to see Justin Johnson add killer slide. I wouldn’t have thought it would work here and it absolutely does- a stellar performance from everyone. 👏🏻

The ultimate cover. And to ad Justin on slide in the breakdown just sealed it as the ultimate cover. A brilliant song raised up to its ultimate level. Wow.
As an Audio Mastering Engineer, I can state with absolute confidence that this is MUCH more than an INCREDIBLE cover tune. I've known Mike for many years (although he many not remember our first meeting up in New Hampshire in 1997), and we discussed the intricate details in mathematics required to be a drummer of his caliber at that time. As a Double Masters grad from MIT, I told him I was easily able to recognize this hidden talent of his. Sure, this tune is a pretty much a straight 4/4 meter, but Mike will ALWAYS be an extraordinary percussionist regardless of time signatures. I was a classically trained pianist from the time I was 5 years old, and traveled in progressive rock bands after getting sick of 'think tank' and engineering design work after 6-7 years out of MIT. I didn't find this video until just now in 2024, and it is exceptional. I remember playing this tune on the road in the very early 80's, and my baby brother freaking out as I was memorizing all of these tunes before auditioning for the first hot band to go on the road. It was a huge step to take, but worked out incredibly well as I was also the Musical Director of the group. Anyway, I simply love what this musical ensemble did with this Boston cover tune. It's the best version I've ever heard on the internet. BRAVO!

Speechless! Best cover of this I've ever heard. I didn't look at the musicians on purpose, obviously recognized a couple, then Justin Johnson appeared. I about fell over! Man, some SERIOUS talent in this group. The vocals were outstanding... Wow, just wow! Real music by real musicians on real instruments.. Old school baby!
That was a fantastic rendition of one of my favorite Boston songs. Never quite got that first drum sequence. The drummer does a GREAT interpretation of what Boston would sound like if Neil Peart or Danny Carrey were playing. Nicely done!!
This is the first album I bought with my own money 47 years ago. It was amazing then, and you guys make it just as amazing. Awesome cover. Thanks for the memories.
I never thought I would hear this song covered… at least not this well. One of my all time favorite bands and one of my all time favorite songs! This was really a great tribute to Boston! I loved how it was faithful to the original in many ways but allowed the different artists to express their own spin on it. I especially liked Mike Portnoy on the drums. Mike is absolutely one of the best drummers out there today.
Amazing. Boston is by far the best 80’s band. I grew up in Boston and their songs are a part of my childhood. The notes, the timing, everything is spot on. Great jobs guys. Hard to recreate a classic but you did a fantastic job.
Watching the players individually and together construct this piece is fantastic. When you don't see it in person it's easy to take for granite the talent at work .

As Boston did create this song and made it stellar in their own ways, making it a memorable and timeless creation ... You guys KICK ASS !!!! I have put this baby in my repeat playlist. Like someone else said, you were faithful to the song and yet splashed this baby with your personalities and drives ...BRAVO !!!!
Every time I hear Boston it reminds me of them playing at the Music at the Meadowlands in 1979. It was the second concert there and the groups were Boston, Todd Rundgren's Utopia, The Outlaws and Poco. Over 55,000 people were in attendance. I also saw the The first concert held there as well as the third. The first concert was in 1978 with The Beach Boys, Steve Miller Band, Pablo Cruise, and Stanky Brown. Boston was the second concert and in 1980 The Eagles, Heart, and the Little River Band played. Boston was so loud the stadium was shaking. People around me were covering their ears too. Great concert for a 15 year old.
Glade to see young people who appreciate good rock music, and also can play as well. Their approach to this classic Boston song was a little different but had a little twist to it that did not screw the song up. Being a drummer for over 40 years the drummer was excellent did a great job. The lead vocals were absolutely wonderful, everyone did a great job
Wow! This cover is the perfect blend of respecting the original version by Boston and completely making it your own. Great musicianship all the way around: vox, guitars, drums, bass and of course, the Hammond. Beautiful! Oh, and to anyone who doesn't like Boston ... kiss my ass!
Best music is always outside of mainstream bullshit . Remind me my young years in 70's 80's the best years of Hard Rock. Thanks to you bringing good time back.
I almost lost it when I saw J.J.! lol. I wasn't expecting that. But I wasn't surprised at all to see him with a slide. I think that thing is permanently attached!
I jammed with Joel H a few times in NY. He is a HUMBLING (and I mean that) player, but a very nice guy. I then saw him playing lead in Rock of Ages in Broadway. The man recognized me and pointed at me from the stage; my wife was VERY impressed. 100% fan of the talent and the man.
Unbelievable. To take on such an iconic beloved song, and do such a solid job of giving it tribute while putting an original take on it. I am blown away.
Amazing cover by amazing musicians. Thank you guys. But this makes me realise once more how immensly great this production must have been in 1976. Boston is the best.
Didn’t know James Labrie could play lead guitar that well. Guess he should after watching Master Petrucci for so many years. Well done Portnoy! Great cover!
Joel works on being pretty and staring into the camera - like James LaBrie. At least Joel can play guitar, and really well, but his intense staring into the camera is still a distraction from the music we really don’t really need. Like James LaBrie.

This has to be your Magnum Opus! It just f’in kills. Right down to the scorching vocalist! Every note, perfection!
I’m speechless! I’ve only met one other person who could play this song as flawlessly as you… and I haven’t seen him in 25 years!
Wow cheers
Super cool! My heart is pounding! I've heard the original Boston many times, but I'd like to hear it live even if it's just once!
Dino svaka čast kralju 👍🇭🇷. This sounded just perfect
I almost lost it when I saw J.J.! lol. I wasn't expecting that. But I wasn't surprised at all to see him with a slide. I think that thing is permanently attached!
Joel and Justin killin it on the guitar solos 😎😎😎😎
Knock my socks off! C3 player, now 75 oh how I miss it!! Thanks for C3 LIFE
Mike, I hope you do more with these guys. :)
Unfortunately I can only put one thumb up...
This video deserve a million of thumbs up 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Hah thanks mate
Unbelievable. To take on such an iconic beloved song, and do such a solid job of giving it tribute while putting an original take on it. I am blown away.
Hey thanks Jeffrey
Dude !! My favorite song of all time from my favorite album .. and you CRUSHED IT ! Thanks for this Lachy
So glad you think so. Cheers
What a lineup! An absolutely stunning cover of a classic! The vocals are epic and the music is spot on. Well done Lachy and co.
Wow! What a rendition! Vocals are outstanding, great voice. It just doesn't get better than this.
Amazing cover by amazing musicians. Thank you guys. But this makes me realise once more how immensly great this production must have been in 1976. Boston is the best.
Damn that was impressive as hell! Everyone did an incredible job!!!
I came here to listen Lachy and the keyboards, but man, what a powerhouse band, and great cover!! Well done everyone!!
Another level guys, 💯 Lachy never ceases to amaze me. Bang on the money Guys, each and everyone of you deserves the plaudits. Absolutely Spellbinding.
Cheers Joby
Has long been one of my favorites, awesome cover! That hammond is sick, love it!
Didn’t know James Labrie could play lead guitar that well. Guess he should after watching Master Petrucci for so many years. Well done Portnoy! Great cover!
James Labrie?????? Confused with your comment, did I miss something?
Joel works on being pretty and staring into the camera - like James LaBrie. At least Joel can play guitar, and really well, but his intense staring into the camera is still a distraction from the music we really don’t really need. Like James LaBrie.
