OH YES! i love ur videos with the pmdg 737 and especially the 600! the 600 is such a lovely plane and u see it so rarely, compared to 700 800 and 900. i have got this plane a couple weeks back and basically have spend my time flying only that eversince. Lovely Video, once again great work. :D

Thanks very much once again, Felix! I’m really glad you enjoyed the video and indeed the 600. I agree; the 600 doesn’t get all that much fanfare (presumably because there were never all that many of them in existence), but it’s a great little jet and I love the fact that we have at least one 737 option, without winglets, in the sim (much better for all of those retro liveries!).
That’s great, that you’ve been having fun with the 736 also. Happy flying and all the best! : )

Really enjoyed this video. I have the 600 as well, which I frequently use with an older Ansett livery and fly up and down the Australian East coast and across the Tasman to my Kiwi neighbours! It's such a great plane to fly, and by far my favourite of the commercial airliners to date. I love that I can also get in and out of a number of regional airports over here as well.

Thanks very much Anastacia, I’m really glad you enjoyed the flight! The 600 is indeed a great little jet; the aircraft is fun, capable and the lack of winglets means it suits a lot of retro liveries pretty well.

This man continues to prove that Microsoft MSFS 2020 is more than just a game. Although British Midland - to my knowledge - never flew the -600 version of the Boeing 737, this virtual flight from East Midlands to Dublin is a pleasure to watch. And a good reason to fly this route - virtually - yourself. In my opinion, his videos provide a good basis for flying professionally in MSFS.

You are correct; Midland never flew the NG, but it’s the best I have for the time being haha (I would love a decent classic 737 in the sim!). I’m really glad you enjoyed the flight and for sure, it’s a nice little route for others to try also.

I knew you knew. And I always do it myself when I like a livery and a type of aircraft fits an airline. Somehow, British Midland has always been one of my favorite airlines. I don't know why. And yes, a 737 Classic is badly needed. Especially the -300, the-400 and the -500, but also a real classic: the -100 and the -200. Many classics are still missing. In my opinion, it is more fun to fly classics. Back then, the human brain was the main computer on board. These were airplanes for real men.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Год назад +3

Any pre-NG 737 would get a big tick from me! I gather MILVIZ / Blackbird are working on a 200, so that will probably be pretty good. It’s a shame Captain Sim lost the plot; once upon a time they made a half-decent 707 and 727, plus they have a 757, 737-200 and 737 CL in their P3D lineup but sadly, nothing they have produced in the last 5+ years, seems to be worthy of much praise. I completely agree though, more classic jets are always welcome - Just Flight seem to be leading the charge on that one at the moment : )
      Cheers once again Peter!

@@IntotheBlueSimulations Thank you very much for this additional reply. I appreciate it very much. And yes, you are right, somehow this has become a priority for Just Flight. And so far they have done a very good job. The Fokker F-28 and Bae-146 are little masterpieces. The Avro RJ70, Avro RJ85, Avro RJ100, Fokker 70 and 100 will follow in exactly the same quality. I am sure of that.

Apologies for the slow reply, have you managed to get things sorted? The first thing that comes to mind, are you sure you don’t have any active failures running? Other than that, I can only imagine it’s either a hardware binding issue, or a hydraulic issue with the aircraft. Hi there from Australia
I can understand in this day and age the reliance on technology, however I do wonder just how many pilots can dead recon in navigating, the control, altitude, speed and campus direction of the aircraft is a lost art, now I know that a pilot employed in a professional capacity has to adhere to the day’s technology, ( yes isn’t it lovely and all ) however take yourself out of that technical surroundings and go back to dead reckoning with respect to navigation, and fly a aircraft like granddad did.
You will be a better pilot and commander of an aircraft for it, maybe I am seeking to the converted and all of the above is mute, however you know exactly what I am referring to.
    Respect and kind regards
    Terry.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Год назад

      Hello Terry,
I don’t have a definitive answer to your question, but as all pilots do of course start out with the basics, I don’t think dead-reckoning is a lost art entirely. . . Granted, commercial jets are heavily automated these days and most pilots do tend to make good use of said automation (myself included).
As far as the sim goes though, I like to do all sorts of flying (this video is not necessarily representative of my “typical” content). The flight prior to this one, was in fact a VFR navigation exercise around rural Oxfordshire, in a De Havilland Chipmunk and I’ve flown all sorts here on the channel; from warbirds to hot air balloons, LGA approaches to STOL ops in Indonesia. I love mixing things up and testing my skills in the sim - it’s one of the reasons I enjoy making the RUclips content : )
I hope that clarifies things a little, with regards to my content at least. Cheers and all the best!

I'm legally blind, so I don't often mess with the heavies, mostly as I can't see the finite silkscreening of the instruments, and panels. Couldn't see the PAPI lights until near the decision point on the approach. Really enjoyed watching a real, commercial pilot flying the sim. By the way, I did notice the union flag, on the starboard side of the nose is inverted, or backwards. The one on the port side is correct, though. Thanks for an enjoyable flight. :)

The union flag is inverted by design: You are correct that the flag is “inverted”, but the aircraft is “flying the flag”, so that’s how the flag ought to look whilst moving through the air (a lot of aircraft liveries depict the same thing - it’s even more noticeable on the US carriers for example). Good spot though! ; )

I take it you want to know if there's a way to do a cold and dark start in the Sim. Yes, there is, simply pick a parking spot or gate when setting up. And if the sim loads you in on the runway with engines lit, simply go back to the setup page and select a parking spot, making sure to pick both on the map and in the drop down above the page. You will spawn in on the selected spot with engines cold and ready for start up.
      Hope that helps, mate.

      Hi CO,
I’m afraid I don’t have the time to make a video on the topic, but I’d be happy to outline my settings on the 2080 PC:
      - “High End” preset
      - Pre-Cache = Ultra
      - Terrain and Object visibility sliders set at 125% (sorry, I forget the actual names of them)
      - Motion Blur = Off
      - Glass Cockpit Refresh = Medium
      - AI Traffic = Off
      - VSync = On / 60fps
That gives a nice balance between graphical fidelity and performance. I only run at 1080p, hence the decent FPS / smooth performance. The things I’ve turned off / down are known to be famerate hogs. It’s important to note, I also spend a lot of time tweaking the weather / lighting in my videos, which accounts for much of the graphical fidelity you see (as that can make a huge different to how the sim looks overall).

      Hello Brandon,
I’m not an expert when it comes to the 737 but, I’m afraid I think that the short answer is “no” (certainly, on the Airbus you can’t do that). I think the 737’s VOR NAV display, displays the VOR radial (and DME) information only. On Garmin equipped aircraft this would be possible, but not on the 737, I don’t think.
Sorry about that. I hope that clarifies things a little at least. All the best!

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Год назад +1

      Hello James,
I’m not a “Boeing guy”, but I can tell you what little I do know re the 737 and give you some info from an Airbus perspective:
There are a number of reasons that the crew might wish to carry out an autoland, but the procedure is most typically used in low visibility conditions (where the aircraft *has* to land automatically, as the pilots no longer have sufficient visual references available, in order to carry out the landing themselves).
On the Airbus, it is standard practice to engage both autopilots for an ILS approach, regardless of whether or not one plans on carrying out an autoland. Apparently, (so I have been told) this is not the case on the Boeing; I gather engaging CMD A+B on the 737, actually trims the aircraft slightly differently in anticipation of an autoland, so it is not desirable to select both autopilots, unless it’s planned that an autoland will be carried out.
I hope that helps a little? All the best : )

      Hello Alex,
I’m glad you enjoyed the video - my absolute pleasure!
I was indeed using a mod called FS Birds (for the UK region). It’s a payware mod; the little bump in immersion is nice, but unfortunately FS Birds also hammers the sim’s FPS pretty hard at times (causing stuttering when flying at high speed), so it’s a little bit difficult to recommend the addon overall.

      Hi rymd,
Ideally, I would love to add chapters but unfortunately, the RUclips algorithm tends to “punish” me somewhat if I do so. I’ve found when I add chapters, people tend to inherently watch less of the video overall (understandably). A lower average view time on a video, negatively impacts that video being recommended to other viewers and of course, I would like my videos to be recommended as widely as possible. It’s a frustrating system and far from ideal. I do add chapters to videos where I consider them to be “essential”, for example my coverage of the MSFS2024 trailer, but most of the time I think one can guess roughly which section of the video is which, based on the flow of the flight.
I hope that makes sense and apologies for the situation. Cheers and all the best! : )

Obviously we all have different preferences when it comes to learning, but I would say video tutorials on RUclips are a great option. My tutorials really just cover the basics, but A320SimPilot’s videos are a great option. After that, it’s just a case of trial and error (don’t be afraid to screw things up - you’ll most likely learn from the mistakes) + practice.

Great video again. Question. Why do the flightcontrolchecks during taxi and not before. Doesn't seem logical. You can't check the rudder and if there is an issue, you have to taxi back anyway . Seems so make more sense to do it at the apron itself.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  10 месяцев назад +1

Thanks very much once again, Dennis!
As with many things in commercial aviation, I think it really just comes down to time and money haha. It’s more expeditious to check the controls on the taxi out and one can also save some fuel as a result. On the real aircraft, you can check the rudder independently of the nosewheel steering (it’s only somewhat of a limitation in the sim, depending on your controller setup) and in reality, flight control issues would be so rare, that the savings vastly outweigh the very remote possibility of having to return to the gate. All that being said, if it’s a very short taxi from the gate to the runway, typically we’ll check the flight controls before commencing the taxi, as we’re looking to kill some time anyway (for the engine warmup) and it saves getting super busy on the way out (at least that is the case on the Airbus / at the airline I work for).
I hope that clarifies things a little. I’m really glad you enjoyed the video! Cheers and all the best : )

      Hi Vibin,
Well, it’s a little bit trickier for me to comment on the 737 specifically, not having flown the aircraft in the real-world. That being said, I can still say with a significant degree of confidence, that by and large, X-Plane is the better sim when it comes to flight modelling (particularly on the heavy jets). I did actually try the Zibo mod, after spending quite a bit of time in MSFS and as soon as I disconnected the autopilot and flew the rest of the approach in the Zibo, I was reminded just how much better some of the flight models in X-Plane feel. In fairness to MSFS, the sim has caught up a lot over the last year or so, but X-Plane is still the king (in the flight modelling department) for now.

I’ll keep the Sky Simulations MD-11 in mind: I was actually planning on reviewing the aircraft when it released, but it appeared to have some major issues and I tend to try and focus on addons that I think offer decent quality. From what I have seen, the Sky Simulations MD-11 looks to be a bit overpriced for what it is and with the TFDi MD-11 somewhere on the horizon, I don’t see that Sky Simulations version of the aircraft has a whole lot to offer. That being said, the MD-11 is a classic design and an aircraft that I’m not all that familiar with in terms of operation, so I do like the idea of covering it in a video and may do so if I’m stuck for something to record on a rainy day ; )

Thank-you sir for another dazzling display of airmanship and sharing with us the stunningly well crafted British Midland livery. This is Guerry, one of your sport’s fans from the US to share the wealth of someone new to MSFS 2020. It seems as if British Midland has some nostalgic value to you as an airline, and I’m happy for you being able to possibly relive some of the memories you have of times you have spent with the carrier. I also tend to become the same way with MSFS and look forward to becoming familiar enough with the simulator to relive many of the memories I have accumulated.
This video is my first glimpse of a very large airport. I am somewhat surprised that the designer for Dublin’s airport, other than downloading its scenery, wasn’t more creative. At least he could have labeled some of parked aircraft with Aer Lingus livery. But now that I consider it further, I’m guessing that adorning other aircraft in true to life liveries might involve paying to the airline(s) a royalty fee. That seems silly to me, especially when it is free advertising. But most assuredly, when it comes to business practices, I do fall short of being an Einstein.
As a sidenote and someone who used to hold a “private ticket” to fly, I just noticed something missing from the scenery both in Europe and the US on which I used to heavily rely. There is no smoke coming from factories or other sources. For I practice my MSFS skills using small, local airfields for which there is no scenery addon. Among many things, this especially makes locating the airsock next to impossible. I do not need everything provided by ATIS. I merely want a wind direction and estimated speed. Consequently, I seems as if I am restricted to viewing the MSFS weather setting for my information, which for me removes some of the true to life realism of the simulator. Oh well… Wait a minute! I just thought of a solution. I could dial up the weather setting and crank up some thunderheads. Then, I can look at their tops to give me a pretty good idea of the wind direction and velocity. Ha! It’s happy flying for all!
Thank-you again for sharing your flight with us. It might sound like a cliché, but I do truly look forward to ITB videos. Good day, sir!

      Hello Guerry,
Once again, my absolute pleasure on the video! Midland does indeed hold a special place in my heart, so it’s been really nice to be able to bring them back to life in some small sense and all the better that I can share that project with you guys! I was originally planning on creating a “channel livery” (as seems to be the done thing) and then realised it would be much better to bring my favourite airline back instead ; )
Some addon developers do add static aircraft that are appropriate to the scenery being modelled but 1) as you say, I guess that could open them up to legal issues and 2) not everybody likes static aircraft included with their scenery. I actually recorded this video a while ago, before there were really any decent traffic options available for MSFS; I now have a decent traffic package installed, so for most future vids, you should see a wealth of appropriate liveries haha.
It’s true actually; no native smoke within MSFS, which is a shame, for the reasons you mention (+ a couple of others). If you really want to figure out wind direction, without a windsock etc, I suppose you could simply fly down the runway at a fixed IAS, time how long it takes in either direction and work out where your headwind is coming from that way. Just a thought. . .
I’m really glad you’re continuing to enjoy the content! Many thanks once again : )

I did think about doing exactly that (and I agree that configuration would work better for a “retro” setup), but opted to go with the more modern options primarily because 1) I find them to be a little bit more user friendly and 2) I think they’re also a little bit easier for the viewer to see during the video. What I would ideally like, is a proper classic 737, but the NG will have to do for now ; )
Thank you very much for the kind words and for your thoughts! All the best : )

      @@IntotheBlueSimulations Thanks for the heart.
I never seen it from that side, that it could be confusing for your viewers. And yes the modern setup is more user friendly, even though i like the older Honeywell MCP a bit more because of the night lightning. It just looks so comfy with the orange red digits 😄 Having a proper 737 classic would be a blast. I'm a huge sucker for 80's planes 757, 767, 737cl. I love the gab between analog and EFIS.
Looking forward for new videos from you, cheers 😀

Completely agree; the part-analogue / part-digital era produced some great aircraft and they tend to still be interesting to fly, whilst also being a little bit easier to manage haha. I just finished recording another outing in the A310, so that will be up at some point (not exactly sure when).
Cheers! All the best : )

Haha! Poor old East Mids XD
As a kid, I have fond memories of EGNX but to be fair, other than one visit, I was mostly just out in the countryside, watching aeroplanes coming in on short final : )
      All the best!

@@IntotheBlueSimulations in many ways the best thing to come out of East Midlands Airport is a plane going somewhere else 🤫🤫

Indeed Gallo; I still find it impressive just how photorealistic MSFS can look at times! I must say that I was pretty pleased with that shot haha : )
      Cheers, all the best!
