      Fun fact! It's called pet directed speech and it's linguistically similar to speech commonly used when talking to babies (child directed speech). It conveys a lot of information about intention (command, greeting, play, etc) and emotion through voice tone along side the actual meaning of the words being said. And just like with humans, young dogs respond to it better than older dogs.

      Biggest reason to do it is to keep your dog safe, and secondarily to keep other people safe. If your dog has learned to be really exuberant and possibly jumping up with everyone, they will approach people who are terrified of dogs, toddlers and the elderly the same way. Best case scenario someone is unhappy about getting lovingly mauled, worst case the police are involved and you dog is getting euthanized.
      There are ways to teach them to be excited but still polite.

    • @houseofiyamiaje
      @houseofiyamiaje Месяц назад +3

      @abbunnies9784 lol how over the funking top!! This is wholly incorrect I've had several.dogs, that didn't have their personalities programmed out of them as puppies, they did not approach terrified people, kids or elderly to be honest it was the opposite, what I find hilarious is that humans impose their own mentality onto animals. Of course some breads are not as emotionally intelligent as others, but it's not a hard and fast rule and frankly it's refreshing to see people openly speak to the fact that they enjoy their animals to have and show personalities instead of having them conditioned and programmed!!

    • @melissaoconnell5648
      @melissaoconnell5648 Месяц назад +3

      Seems like a happy blend would be best for both animal and human safeties through emotional sensitivity work. A pup can sit and swish it's tail and be addressed with a welcome exchange. Though it has to be shown that welcome level of ease without squashing innate enthusiasm. There's a more natural emotional regulation that can be developed. I've seen how early and regular social adjusting with other dogs, cats, animals and people can really help - especially considering various breeds for their energy levels. I saw a 1 year old pup today in a zip up stroller. It was incredibly at ease strolling the market with 'Mom'. Keenly aware, enjoying all the activities calm, happy, bright eyed and smiling. Here's to happy wags - pups, peoples and animals the world over. 💜🐕💜😊💜🐕💜

No sooner, I had kneeled down and this dog put his paws around my neck and proceeded to give me kisses right on the face. I was laughing because, although people would say this behavior isn’t the best, the unconditional love and affection I received from this dog just made my heart leap with joyful laughter. My dog is coming close to the end of her life at 16 years old. Her body is no longer metabolizing food and she’s rapidly losing weight. Not true, you have a regime to follow once they come home. It dont matter who’s training the dog as long as the same commands are being used and practice continues repetitively (coming from someone who’s sister does this as well and have passed on many dogs who continue to be well behaved)

      I used to work as a trainer for a board and train program. Most places will offer a certain amount of free training sessions with the owner after the board and train program is up so that we are then able to train the owner as well. A good B&T program will understand that training the owner is JUST AS IMPORTANT as training the dog, therefore offering free training classes with their programs

      By God, I would never send my dog away to be trained by someone else.
      It's better to train WITH the trainer.
      Firstly, because he can correct you (and dog school is about training the owner) and secondly, the training strengthens the bond between the dog and you. So why pay someone else to do it without me?

    • @theshadowfax239
      @theshadowfax239 Месяц назад +2

      @@loser3492 Just because an owner is given a regime to follow doesn't mean they will follow it. It takes incredible discipline to be consistent with your dogs, and most people aren't that disciplined, and are quite lazy. That's why they send their dogs away. Board and trains are not ideal, because the owners need the most training.

    I took my Golden to a board & train when he was about 10=months old...it was for 2-weeks, and when I drove off and he was running along the property fence wondering why I was leaving without him...omg, I was in tears. They did an amazing job and 2-years later I got his nephew and thankfully, his training transferred to the new puppy.🐾

      As someone with 6 dogs, this training is actually really important!! Sometimes dogs will jump up when excited and if the person is nervous around dogs or has an allergy, it’s not great if you have a big dog that bounds over to them. My dogs are all well-trained but I’ve met dogs that accidentally knock over and hurt children when excited. They still get that joy, but it just doesn’t show it as much!!

      @@SaintMKSIIdogs and most animals (and children under the age of 5 lol) respond more to tone and volume than the words themselves.
      When you think about it dogs when happy or excited will make higher pitched noises compared to lower sounding barks or growls when they are "serious". It's also why repeatedly yelling out a command can just get a dog more excited and less likely to listen.
      You don't absolutely need to use the higher pitched voice, but it's just generally better to work with the animals nature than against it.

They are protective of children and their owners. Only drawback is they are very predisposed to cancer. It’s so very sad and there is ongoing research being done in hopes of preventing it.🙏🏼❤️
