@kieronoconnor808 It was our pleasure! We love your work. The photo we bought is framed and hanging in our home. Thank you so much and we appreciate you taking the time to watch our video. Can’t wait to return to Cobh!
In the 1950s, Laurel and Hardy did a European tour of theatres. When their ship arrived in Cobh harbour, the cathedral bells played their theme tune. They said that they just hugged each other and cried.
@katekelly8275 Thank you so much and thank you for watching! We truly love Ireland and will be back. We both have ancestors that are from there like Galway and Donagal that make it more special to visit.
I really like how this port is setup. The train station is right there. Or you can go to the town square, see a beautiful church and some history as well.
@willcooper6980 it was our favorite port on the trip! Super nice to have the train so close. Very glad we were able to experience both places. Ireland is a magical place and we can’t wait to return. Thanks for always being so supportive!
My wife and I are literally looking at moving to Cobh for retirement, what a true gem! Been all over Europe and I think it's the prettiest view you will see from the ship.
We loved Cork and Cobh and can’t wait to return for a land trip. We will definitely take your advice to visit West Cork when we come back. Thank you so much for watching and we hope you enjoyed our video. :)
@robertgosnell1655 We truly loved Cobh and can’t wait to return. Thanks for the info on what the hill is called. That’s something we didn’t know. Thank you for watching and hope you enjoyed our video!
To get to Blarney from the ship the train is a good idea. You can then get the 215 bus to Blarney, a regular city service, from pretty close to the station. There's a few choices of stops to get on but the most convenient is probably at the end of McCurtain Street in your other video (where you passed the Everyman Theatre). Bus to Blarney from there is about €2 as it's a city service. As cruise days tend to start early that will give you plenty of time at a reasonable cost. In Cork City I would have added UCC - a 10 minute walk from the Cathedral you were at - and/or Shandon, which is on the other side of the city but fairly close as well. Given your schedule though you probably did the best thing by getting a taste of both areas rather than concentrating on one. There's a great spot to get the best 'House Of Cards/ Cathedral' photo in Cobh. When you left that small park back up the hill and turned right you should have turned left !! 100 metres back there is a spot where you can get a great shot - it's pretty much the other side of the high wall in that park. Glad you enjoyed your visit anyway, great to hear. 👍
@dougminihane7711 Wow!! Thank you so much for all of that information! We really appreciate this lovely response to our videos. This is very helpful to us and our viewers. Blarney castle is a must do the next time we are there. We are so happy we got to experience both Cork and Cobh. Both are great in their own ways and we can’t wait to come back. Thank you so much for watching and hope you enjoyed our videos!
Besides the Titanic it is also the closest port to where the Lusitania was sunk in WWI by the Germans. Two of the most important naval disasters connected give you much to look at in the museum on top of the hill. FYI it is pronounced "COVE" even though there is no V.
@ShakopeeLarson - we heard about the museum. Missed it this time but will check it out next time. We absolutely loved Cobh and can see why you want your move there! And yes- we tell everyone about the correct pronunciation. Thank you so much for watching and we hope you enjoyed our video!
@gerardacronin334 Glad the closed caption worked. We did have some editing issues with our program for this video. Thanks again for watching our videos!
Ah guys..seriously you cannot compare Cork with Cobh..Cork city vs Cobh town...no .. not doable. Granted Cobh is fab but ye need to come back again to enjoy more of what Cork has to offer.
@clairewhelan-s8I we loved both places and will definitely be back! We missed so much of Cork and can’t wait to see other areas. We heard the countryside is beautiful! We really appreciate you watching! Thanks!
@danielb11111 that’s good to hear. It’s always environmental crisis that increase cancer rates in specific communities. Hopefully, this unfortunate statistic has or will start decreasing. Thanks for commenting and watching!
Was without doubt our favourite port of the whole cruise, would love to revisit and stay in Cobh 💙❤💚
Same! Thanks, friend!! 💙❤️💚
Thanks guys and thank you for taking your time in Ireland 👍☘️😃

@ShakopeeLarson Absolutely!!!!! Definitely our favorite port on this cruise! Thanks again for watching!
As a Corkonian I quite agree with you that Cobh is a wonderful place to spend a day in port. You could also take the ferry to Spike Island.
@gerardacronin334 Cobh is beautiful and thanks for the recommendation- will definitely look into the ferry next trip. Thank you for watching! 😊
Very glad you enjoyed your time in Cork, please come again and visit west Cork, its scenery is breathtaking.

@jackiescrystalmoon We truly did and will do! Thank you so much for the comment and for watching!
That is St Colemans Cathedral. The hill is called The Barrack Hill, otherwise known as The Deck Of Cards.

Cobh IS in Cork
Quays is pronounced Keys.
Thank you for the correct pronunciation. I think we said Quay wrong when we were in Galway too. Again, thanks for watching!
Michael collins was from cork a great irishman... and mention his name u be loved forever in cork 😊
What history in Cork! We loved every minute of being there. Thank you so much for watching and we hope you enjoyed our video! 😊
That infernal music is preventing me from hearing what you're saying.
@billyo54 Yes… so sorry about the loud music. We had a hard time with the editing on this one. Thanks again for watching!
@@TheWanderfullLifeI had to turn on closed captioning to know what you were saying.

While Cobh is lovely the locals have the highest cancer rate in Ireland. 40% higher than national average
Wow! What a high statistic. Wonder what’s so different in Cobh that would cause more cancer diagnoses? Thanks for sharing and watching!
Just to note...much of the heavy industry opposite Cobh now closed. Not sure of the science here...but hopefully rates decline in future.
