- The Fireballs play their hit song Bulldog in Quartzite, Arizona on 28th January 2011. The song was dedicated to me and my drummer, Kurt by George Tomsco (guitar) and Stan Lark (bass). The Fireballs are one of the original instrumental-rock acts and were extremely influential to surf and instrumental music. After 52 years, these guys are still rockin' the house and doin' the moves they've done on stage all along! Check them out!!!!
I'm 75yrs.young, BULL DOG was my 2nd. Instrumental I learned and played!!! WOW this IS GREAT MUSIC!!! THANKS SO MUCH...
Rock on!
@@MattthaKat Thanks buddy...
Still a fan since high school in early 60s
I remember Stan Rofe playing this tract over and over on 3KZ Melbourne shortly after it was released in 1960 1961 in the summer
Holidays.Great sound and Stan the man a great DJ
A blast. ❤ Love it. Scott Weaver from Grand Rapids Michigan 😂
been rocking out with the Fireballs and the Ventures for years,,,aint no stopping now!!!! This Telecaster playing 50 something male has learned alot of riffs from you guys!!! Thank you!!
These guys still have the cool moves from the early 60's. George Tomsco's Bulldog absolutely knocked me out when it came out and was one of the first songs I learned on guitar. I guess he is one of my all time favorite guitar idols! Yea.....
then you had and have a very good taste. George's terrific
My kind of guys!
George you are still a teenager at heart, I love your playing and your performance. I bought your 45s in 1960 and I play your songs with my band. Best wishes, Ventureshadow in Vancouver, WA.
For guys being in their '60s, they sure are in good "shape" and move pretty good...nice to see the older rock/instrumental groups still around !
Sure they're already way into their 70s, actually. even when this video was shot they must have been close to 70..
I'd rather see then jumping around stage than the old fossils Mick and Keith!
A great band! My favorite!
I was there when they taped this performance. Viva's Burbank
On this day in 1960 {Janaury 4th} the Fireballs performed "Bulldog" on the late Dick Clark's 'American Bandstand'...
One week later on January 11th it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #24 and spent 12 weeks on the Top 100...
The group's vocalist Chuck Tharp passed away in 2006 at the age of 65 {cancer}...
R.I.P. Mr. Tharp and Mr. Clark {1929 - 2012}...
R.I.P.
Thanks a lot! Wonderful musicians, greetings from México.
Looks great and sounds cool. Hello from Surf Zombies
Brook how you doing
One of the best aspects of music from this era is the emphasis on the music rather than the special effects. The moves are part of the act, not the whole act!
Many moons ago played all of their tunes-The Vulcans- I played lead.
george is one of my favorite guitarists of all time. nobody can match that tone or style.
Oh stop with the gushing insane praise. That just shows the extent of your musical experience, "nobody can match that tone or style". Oh really? How about any adolescent girl scout picking up a guitar for the first time? Ludicrous.
@@sharpdressedvan who pissed in your Cheerios?
you're doggone right
very good, reminds me of my youth.
STILL the Greatest!
So great 🤙
For my money the Fireballs are the best band to come out of England.
that's the right time of year to be in quartzite
Legal, muito bom descanso
George
I saw you at the Pipeline Convention in the UK - you're still improving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Great stuff - keep on rockin'!
George, I hope all is well with you! I am still kicking. I seriously miss the old Norman Petty Studio! Fond memories with Apple Glass Cyndrom and studio time.
Hurray for these veterans
Surfs up somewhere!!!
Terrific playing, silly moves
never heard this group before
Fantistash!
were these guys the original Raton Fireballs from Raton NM?
ferd fernan Yes
I used to go see them at the Raton Armory in the 60s. Thanks for answering.
They recorded their first Record in Clovis, NM at the Norman Petty recording studio in 1959. Same place Buddy Holly recorded.
@@douggroenhoff8268 wow.
@@kruzn1934 I use to go to their dances at the "Yucca Hotel Ball Room" 25 cents!
Bulldog contre Grizzly aux abois... attention aux fuites
Michael Jackson studied the moves of these guys to polish his own dance moves.
Седые жгут ;)
I hear Alot of (Beatles) influence! On this one!! Lol!
RaVeN BLU daytripper
jaclestrat : Yezzzz!
Lol! Ty! 😄
This was written in 1960, 5 years before Daytripper. Perhaps what you're hearing is a band that influenced the Beatles?
