My father was there. He was shot in the legs a through and through I believe. I collect films like this in case I can see him. He passed away with cancer in 1966.
The best generation this country ever produced and have to be so grateful for. I thank our armed forces 🙏 every day from ww1 ww2. My personal experience was kosovo, afgan and Iraq. Some of my closest family and friends went, some came back (sort of) and my closest cousin was killed last day of his patrol before going back to fob return to bastion and back home. That was when people first started lining the streets every time a soldier went past, lowered flags etc. Really heart wretched just thinking about that day he come home in that box.
My Grandad was there with 2nd parachute Sqn Royal Engineers. The only injury he received was of the mind. He was never the same after Greece, Palestine and Cassino
Love the Gurkhas!
Love the accounts and remembrance of old warriors.

Montecassino was the last WWl battle in WWll...
How is it the Poles took it? Lots of prior softening up?
Great reporting.
The film doesn't say anything to the contrary
923 Polish soldiers were killed in the fighting, with 2,931 wounded and 345 reported missing.
Not that softened.
What an awful waste of men
