Here's a tip: If you're roaming the map and making a path that passes through the Extraction Point before you extract, take a moment to collect and drop all your samples around that area (PC default key to drop stuff is to hold the X key, and you'll see a menu pop up where you can drop just about anything [including samples]). This way, when you die, you won't have to worry about getting them from dangerous situations, and you can pick them up on your way out when you head to Extraction. (This also has the added benefit where if you aren't going to be able to extract because of time limits or running out of reinforcements, those samples weren't going to matter anyways!).

Tip from a helldiver on the robot front; Know when to leave an objective! On helldive specifically, you should NOT be taking every fight you see. If you spot a big patrol on the way, let them pass. Bonus tip! I'd like to add a little bit to the tips Tip1: you actually dont need to complete everything on the map - on the contrary, game sends more patrols in the longer you are in the mission, so if you struggle with certain difficulty, but want to go higher somewhy - best tip is to rush main objective. The 3rd time I orbital striked his a** and he left. I tried matchmaking the rest of the night hoping this guy was an anomaly, but got nothing even when I deployed the SOS becon myself, so I continued solo.
A very good way to deal with Bile Titans early on when you don't have access to stuff like the railgun or recoilless is actually to have a dead teammate drop on it with their resupply pod. At lower difficulties you can often one shot them with this
Enemy health don't scale with difficulty. On higher difficulties they only spawn more and with more armored variant. So what kill it on lower diff will kill it just as well in higher diff.
Most Important Tip: When you first load up the game, and it says servers are full with a countdown till it retries again. *You DO NOT need to re-open the game, just sit there patiently.* You can even alt tab, it will keep trying in the background, and will eventually load you into your ship without any prompts from you. Sometimes it takes 2 minutes, sometimes 30.
A lot of Eagle strikes are capable of destroying bug holes and fabricators depending on the angle you call them in and the angle the Ship takes when dropping them, for Automatons if the vents that you throw grenades into are facing the direction the ship is coming from you will blow it up regardless if it is a cluster bomb or napalm. If fighting Automatons prioritize the basic looking humanoid ones with one sword arm and one gun arm as they are the ones that call in bot drops. Stims give you an active time of invincibility, allowing you to survive stuff that would otherwise kill you, so increasing that duration via armor can come in clutch.
these are pretty good tips for newer players but there are a couple things i think are worth noting A couple bugs: 1. Armor rating currently is bugged where all armor rating is (most likely) set to medium so light armor is directly better because of the better move speed, but playing for fashion is also a good choice :) 2. The next bug thats important is with currency pickup, right now if you try and grab currency from bunkers or containers (Req slips, Medals, Super Credits) too fast then it won't register the latest currency you picked up. For example, if you blow open one of the shipping containers and there are two Super Credit piles and you grab them back to back as quick as you can then the last grabbed pile will bug out and visually stay there and not count towards your Super Credits. The best advice is to grab currency SLOWLY. 3. The final somewhat major bug is when picking up only currency (the same three mentioned above) you will sometimes get locked in place and unable to walk, you can fix this either by aiming down sights (first person mode) or letting another helldiver melee you to ragdoll you but sometimes this results in you clipping through a wall. I hope these bugs are patched soon because they are pretty bad but the devs have to finish up the server issues before they can address these. Generally speaking the game is really not buggy at all, these are some of the only notable one's I can fully think of.
One of the biggest tips I can give new players is the stratgems you should prioritize: Grenade launcher as soon as you unlock it, Autocannon, Gatling Sentry, Mortar Sentry, Mines, Eagle Cluster & Normal Eagle Strike, Orbital Laser. Another huge tip is smoke is extremely effective against bots, they cannot target you at all while in smoke and they wonder around aimlessly
Yeah after working hours is a struggle but if you're ever able to get on early in the day you should load right in, I know it's not a perfect fix but democracy waits for no one
as someone who started playing with her boyfriend & his friends and is *severely lacking* in general skills, i need this video and i am so glad it exists! i really wanna get better so i'm definitely gonna practise and use these tips! thank you so much for posting this!
This game is surprisingly visceral and intense. Especially when compared to Helldivers 1 As a lifelong Starship Troopers fan, I feel very blessed to have experienced Helldivers 2 cuz wow. The DOPAMINE
Just a caveat: if you're playing for XP, don't clear the whole map. You get more XP per hour just cranking through the main objective with more time left
Another great video, keep up the SOLID content the community needs this. There are a lot of low quality of information videos where people are suggesting the incendiary breaker and its been driving me insane. Keep em comin!!
If you hit a charger in a leg twice with any armor piercing weapon like the railgun, it will make it incredibly vulnerable in the spot on its leg where its armor came off with your primary. Also, when you use a stim you get a few seconds where your stamina remains full. Handy if you have to run away or to somewhere.
One small quality of life improvement I think would slightly help the flow of the game is whenever you dolphin dive backwards you can aim and shoot while laying on your back but I think it'd be cool if you could keep pushing yourself backwards with your legs while still spraying because the army crawl kinda sucks for moving backwards
And a lot less options to deal with swarms or big targets, so the failure chance definitely goes up drastically once it hits 0. Also I'm pretty sure you can't reinforce at all afterwards, you don't even get the slow timer thing
The safe way to go about mission flow is dropping directly onto the main objective's subtask, or between them if there's more. You generally want to B-line the main objective and only search the things in or close enough to the direct path, once the main objective is done, you no longer have the pressure of the ever-increasing horde sizes as the mission ticks on. The longer you take, the bigger the enemy presence, the sooner you get the main mission out of the way, the less you'll have to worry you miught run out of revives in the last 15 minutes in the middle of a horde around the objective, once that's done you can freely run around the map searching for side objectives and POIs, and if reinforces get low, you can choose to leave at any time
Ehh I disagree. I use to do this but if the late mission enemy presence is too much then turn the difficulty down but scour most or all of the map. The payout is way better because you’ll complete more secret side missions and find TONS more common samples.
@9:42 im pretty sure after the mission timer ends, you cant call stratagems or reinforcements (revives), the revive timer happens when you use up all the number of revives given to you. you should confirm.
I’ve noticed while trying to climb jagged walls and cliff sides, holding x detects climbable surfaces better than sprinting. U can do both and it works just as well. But just sprinting is less effective. Keep in mind when u get cornered against rock walls. You’d be surprised what you can climb.
Yes napalm air strikes are good against bugs, but it isn't very effective against automatons. I'd suggest cluster bomb, its very good against both factions, you can get it earlier, and if you throw it right you can easily get a twenty + kill as soon as it lands, while with napalm you have to wait for the fire to kill them and it gets you less kills.
From what i've gathered when the mission timer hits 0, it's just a sign of auto extract. You can no longer complete the obj after the timer runs out. Nothing is left, only extract.
You can still complete some OBJs even if extract is called. Not all of them but just for example on both civilian extract missions you can still call in civilians or scientists to run to their point and they will still count towards the total you just can’t see your progress
Here are a few tips: 1 - Back in HD1, if your team wipes, it's game over so we had to be quick with the gem codes, especially with reinforce. So, remember the emergency ones like reinforce (especially), emergency call ins like smoke, favorites, and even the resupply. It could come in handy. 2 - Stop strafing like you're dodging bullets, terminids do not use guns. You're more likely to get killed by friendly-fire if you do this when in front of a firing line. You also lose accuracy. 3 - You don't have to engage enemy patrols. You can avoid them. If you have no choice, take them down efficiently and quickly. If you don't, certain enemy types will call for reinforcements. 4 - Diving prone can save you most of the time but not all the time from grenades and bad call ins, and freedom-dispensing-turrets. 5 - Strategize. Orbital rail guns and railguns are very good with heavies, but that's not just the one enemy type in the field. Consider having a well-rounded team that can be good against all types. For example: I run a crowd control build with wide carpet bombing and easy medium kill build and avoid heavies, my friend uses an anti-heavy one, the other team mates get emergency redundancy and/or defense builds, etc. They don't have much trouble with crowds and I don't worry about the heavies chasing me for long. This eases job functionality and focus. 6 - What's better than having an orbital laser? Four orbital lasers. 7 - If you can help it, try not to use impact grenades on cyborg missions. 8 - Shoot the enemy that is chasing your teammate, not your teammate. If you cannot do this, do not take the shot. This is not treason, unless high command deems it, but it will hurt your friend's feelings. 9 - EMS in any form is clutch. 10 - Boosters on p7 and 9 are OP. 11 - EXO-44
@@JayBirdJay In higher difficulty levels, you will run a lot because you're retreating, maneuvering, or you're legging it to the next objective. The muscle enhancement boost speeds up stamina recovery and adds more stamina capacity.
@@JayBirdJay Oh sorry, my bad. While its good vs enemies, it's not good with factories. The tend to blow up outside vents. I had a team once who rushed in a compound trying to destroy one only to find out they couldn't. All of us were laughing as we all had impact and couldn't destroy the damn thing.
Yeah, that's why i like putting the marker. SO many just do missions, and run past samples left and right. Learn the map, cause you can see where buildings, etc, are.
1. If you are using a mouse, set the pin location to the middle scroll wheel click. 2. Your team will be able to see the marker where big enemies are through walls and stuff. 3.Using a Stim refresh’s your stamina as well. Obviously don’t _only_ use it for that. 4.If you are out of Stims pressing the button will make your character shout that you are out.
protip: if you slowly mouseover each part of the minimap, it'll say "minor point of interest" even if you don't see the diamond icon. You can check it out for yourself!
Dont run through bushes, shrubs and tall grass, they will slow down your movement and can kill you if you are trying to find cover or run away from a horde of bugs
You can also use your reinforcement stratagems offensively. Throw your buddy's revive beacon at a bile titan and tell him to land dead on it for an easy kill. Just dont miss lol
Caveat for tip #1, if you're below level 20, it is much faster to level up to speed run the main objective and extract, the time to experience ratio is much much more rewarding. After level 20 experience doesn't much matter. Also even after level 20 I think it's best to speed run the main objective AND THEN comb through the map. This way you're not scrambling last minute to finish the objective, also missions get progressively more difficult the longer they run, if you're tasked to destroy eggs for example, thats gonna be alot harder 30 minutes in than it will be 5-10 minutes in.
Boosters have unlimited uses. I know everyone's used to boosters being a usable a certain amount of times in other games, but this isn't other games. If you have a booster, use it.
Autocannon and Autocannon Sentry - know the difference Autocannon is good for medium-armored enemies, but its shells will bounce off of heavily-armored enemies like Chargers. Autocannon Sentries will chew through targets that Autocannon can only dream of taking down. It will kill a Charger if given the time to do so (doesn't take long). My friend and I have killed multiple Titans very quickly with the use of two AC sentries. Definitely a stratagem to pick up once available.
my best tip is when youre on quick search and destroy missions (especially on harder difficulties) plan your route with the sites in mind and try to drop in on them to blow them to smithereens
I'm still pretty new to helldivers but from my experimenting supply pack + the stalwart machine gun support weapon is SUPER strong in early game. Since resupply and the supply packs operate off different timers ammo is practically a non-issue. Plus when you grab a pack off of a resupply drop you get your resupply AND you get a supply pack charge, effectively doubling what you get out of a supply beacon, the only time i'm not using my stalwart MG is when I don't have the ability to run away from the enemies.
You get more revives then what the number is. Once you hit zero it is on a cooldown. After the cooldown you get 1 at a time. So -> use all revives -> cooldown timer -> use the one revive -> cooldown timer again.
one thing to note about heavy armor, when i was with my friends, one had light, one had meidum, and i had heavy.... i noticed my character would struggle more to walk in the grassy plains with the explody spore pods when it was raining... so food for thought, it made my chracter walk slower and visibly have to trudge through the terain, thoo when i was sprinting it didnt seem to affect to much
Good luck retrieving your samples btw. I initially thought when you died you lost all samples and they weren’t recoverable. Turns out that most player just take them when you die. I’ve seen players run through enemy lines to grab another soldiers sample case smh
I wouldn’t recommend the napalm strike, it’s good but the napalm doesnt hold a candle to the eagle cluster strike, the hit on top of the aoe just decimates anything near it.
A correction on #14: when the mission timer hits 0 your destroyer leaves orbit and you lose the ability to call in stratagems or reinforcements PERMANENTLY. The timer on reinforcements only comes into effect when you use all your reinforcements while the destroyer is still in orbit. Once the mission timer hits zero you can’t reinforce at all, period. Additionally, it will automatically call in the Pelican 1 evac shuttle at the extraction site. It lands 2 minutes after the mission ends and then leaves with or without you 20 seconds after landing. If the mission timer hits 0, you better finish up what your doing ASAP and book it to extraction or you will get left behind. That being said, if you haven’t completed your mission objective, you still can before pelican 1 leaves. You only fail the mission if you don’t complete the objective before pelican 1 leaves, and it even counts as a win if you complete the objective but fail to extract.
While I agree with you 100%, there is something to be said for the “democracy protects“ trait only found on medium armor atm. Having a 50% chance to not die when you reach zero health is quite the buff.
I hit the queue yesterday aswell, took about 15 minutes. I don't mind the devs capping the capacity to improve stability. However, I do mind matchmaking not working with 450k concurrent players once you actually get in.
I feel like the main people who are complaining are the ones that only play with railguns and breakers. I’ve been playing with it for a good week, its nice but I broke off from it and started Maining the arc thrower/jump pack or Personal Shield, SMG 37/Ballistic Shield Rail gun combo for Automatons, Supply pack/Grenade Launcher. So many fun combos to play with, no complaints from this update
Tip: some enemies are better off being treated like necromorphs, spitters die in roughly half the time if you take two of their legs off and brood commanders aren't able to charge you if you take there legs off (chargers die most times if they lose just one of their legs)
For the last tip : You cant stack the same boosters though when someone else uses one you cant use the same one. You can use one of the other boosters though
Recoiless rifle and disposable anti tank can take out the automaton dropships before the enemies are deployed if you direct impact one of the 4 engines
Tip number one is all like “suck less, and do everything. Also don’t die and make sure you finish the mission”… lol. I’m over here just trying successfully exfil.
There are better early stratagems for the purposes you mentioned. Eagle Airstrike does much better damage and can destroy buildings and heavy amor enemies compared to the bullet barrage. Napalm is good for slowing enemies and giving the burn dot for the bug breeches like you said. Armor Rating is currently bugged (2/19/24). Everything has the same Armor Rating as Light Armor. Boosters cannot be equipped by more than one player. It will not let multiple players choose the same booster.

@@Kastor0311 IF matchmaking actually works that is. Dropped in at lvl1 on a lvl7 last night, got shot in the back by him instantly. He revived me only to kill me again. The 3rd time I orbital striked his a** and he left.
I tried matchmaking the rest of the night hoping this guy was an anomaly, but got nothing even when I deployed the SOS becon myself, so I continued solo.
Dropping some tactical Zapp Brannigan advice? Baby you just earned yourself a sub
A very good way to deal with Bile Titans early on when you don't have access to stuff like the railgun or recoilless is actually to have a dead teammate drop on it with their resupply pod. At lower difficulties you can often one shot them with this
Me and my team have used this against bile spewers and chargers. Tough to pull off but worth it for the easy kill on a big bad if someone goes down
Enemy health don't scale with difficulty. On higher difficulties they only spawn more and with more armored variant. So what kill it on lower diff will kill it just as well in higher diff.
This can work for bile titans, too.
I did this when we first took on the Vile Titan, and I died from its body landing on me once it collapsed. It made for some good laughs.
Most Important Tip:
When you first load up the game, and it says servers are full with a countdown till it retries again.
Stims give you an active time of invincibility, allowing you to survive stuff that would otherwise kill you, so increasing that duration via armor can come in clutch.
these are pretty good tips for newer players but there are a couple things i think are worth noting
A couple bugs:
1. Armor rating currently is bugged where all armor rating is (most likely) set to medium so light armor is directly better because of the better move speed, but playing for fashion is also a good choice :)
I got stuck in one of the chargers body to add to the bug😅. Thing is dead and did not want to let go still😊
One of the biggest tips I can give new players is the stratgems you should prioritize:
Grenade launcher as soon as you unlock it, Autocannon, Gatling Sentry, Mortar Sentry, Mines, Eagle Cluster & Normal Eagle Strike, Orbital Laser.
Another huge tip is smoke is extremely effective against bots, they cannot target you at all while in smoke and they wonder around aimlessly
I'd love to use these tips if I could ever get in the game.
Yeah after working hours is a struggle but if you're ever able to get on early in the day you should load right in, I know it's not a perfect fix but democracy waits for no one
Ya I can in but after the last update the lag is making it unplayable. I'm gonna give it a few weeks and come back to it. Back to DRG and EDF for me.
For real
It’s working perfectly fine for me, I get like a 3 minute que then get in and have no issues at all, not even crashes
@@ICr4zyI yeah, days later when they've done some work. Last night I still had over 30 minutes in line
as someone who started playing with her boyfriend & his friends and is *severely lacking* in general skills, i need this video and i am so glad it exists! i really wanna get better so i'm definitely gonna practise and use these tips! thank you so much for posting this!
Oddly I find the supply backpack useful if I am playing support, helps to mitigate that supply drop cooldown.
Not odd at all. Makes sense!
Yeah it’s definitely pretty useful
This game is surprisingly visceral and intense. Especially when compared to Helldivers 1
As a lifelong Starship Troopers fan, I feel very blessed to have experienced Helldivers 2 cuz wow. The DOPAMINE
This game came outta nowhere and hit hard
Just a caveat: if you're playing for XP, don't clear the whole map. You get more XP per hour just cranking through the main objective with more time left
Another great video, keep up the SOLID content the community needs this. There are a lot of low quality of information videos where people are suggesting the incendiary breaker and its been driving me insane. Keep em comin!!
I love that starship troopers reference in the beginning ❤

I'm brand new to this game and these online open world games. This was super helpful.
I'm really missing a roll or a slide option.
@@kriseightyfive5854 that would be really good too, something to add along with crawling backwards, MGSV had it all figured out 9 years ago
Timer reaching 0 also means no more stratagems. Which can translate to failure if you have no more ammo.
And a lot less options to deal with swarms or big targets, so the failure chance definitely goes up drastically once it hits 0. Also I'm pretty sure you can't reinforce at all afterwards, you don't even get the slow timer thing
I would like to know more! But thank you, this was helpful. Just got the game yesterday for my family, and can't wait to get more into it
The safe way to go about mission flow is dropping directly onto the main objective's subtask, or between them if there's more.
On the harder difficulty, guys don’t feel like you have to clear everything. Sometimes it’s too much to deal with
I didnt know the different fire modes. That wil help tremendously!
I came for the tips. (Even though most I've already heard) I stayed after you called me buttercup and made the ST reference.
From what i've gathered when the mission timer hits 0, it's just a sign of auto extract. You can no longer complete the obj after the timer runs out. Nothing is left, only extract.
I thought you can only not use stratagems anymore when timer runs out
@DuyHa1001 it also auto calls extraction, which means main obj is no longer available if it wasn't completed.
You can still complete some OBJs even if extract is called. Not all of them but just for example on both civilian extract missions you can still call in civilians or scientists to run to their point and they will still count towards the total you just can’t see your progress
it does not call extraction. did it yesterday
Here are a few tips:
1 - Back in HD1, if your team wipes, it's game over so we had to be quick with the gem codes, especially with reinforce.
11 - EXO-44
Huh, why number 7?
@@JayBirdJay In higher difficulty levels, you will run a lot because you're retreating, maneuvering, or you're legging it to the next objective. The muscle enhancement boost speeds up stamina recovery and adds more stamina capacity.
I was confused about tip number seven, lol. I get the booster thing (though thanks for explaining!). But why no impact grenades on bots?
My daily dopamine comes from raycon sponsored RUclipsrs shaking their heads trying to get them to pop out
Dont run through bushes, shrubs and tall grass, they will slow down your movement and can kill you if you are trying to find cover or run away from a horde of bugs
This, not unless one of your squad mates have the booster unlock and equipped.😊
You can also use your reinforcement stratagems offensively. Throw your buddy's revive beacon at a bile titan and tell him to land dead on it for an easy kill. Just dont miss lol
Bonus points for the Zapp Brannigan reference.
Imagine if you would earn silver from completing master dungeons/raids and GMs.
the autocannon also kills bug holes with one shot... really ammo effiecent honestly
Autocannon and Autocannon Sentry - know the difference
Autocannon is good for medium-armored enemies, but its shells will bounce off of heavily-armored enemies like Chargers.
Autocannon Sentries will chew through targets that Autocannon can only dream of taking down. It will kill a Charger if given the time to do so (doesn't take long).
My friend and I have killed multiple Titans very quickly with the use of two AC sentries. Definitely a stratagem to pick up once available.
Reject meta, let democracy guide you
I've been told by a few people that marksman rifles, light armor, and just playing solo are all bad
Counter argument: budget Sniper Elite
I did not know the samples dropped when you died thanks comrade for the tips
my best tip is when youre on quick search and destroy missions (especially on harder difficulties) plan your route with the sites in mind and try to drop in on them to blow them to smithereens
The Zap Brannigan quote got you the thumbs up😂
I'm still pretty new to helldivers but from my experimenting supply pack + the stalwart machine gun support weapon is SUPER strong in early game.
Make more videos fallout! I stopped playing destiny and as such have not really seen your videos in a while, but love your content.
one thing to note about heavy armor, when i was with my friends, one had light, one had meidum, and i had heavy.... i noticed my character would struggle more to walk in the grassy plains with the explody spore pods when it was raining... so food for thought, it made my chracter walk slower and visibly have to trudge through the terain, thoo when i was sprinting it didnt seem to affect to much
Good luck retrieving your samples btw. I initially thought when you died you lost all samples and they weren’t recoverable. Turns out that most player just take them when you die. I’ve seen players run through enemy lines to grab another soldiers sample case smh
Great video! Incredibly helpful. Thanks for making it

Fallout always drops these tips and gems like a real game bro should, unlike these other content creators
I wouldn’t recommend the napalm strike, it’s good but the napalm doesnt hold a candle to the eagle cluster strike, the hit on top of the aoe just decimates anything near it.
Love your D2 content! Can't wait to see what else you do here
For the last booster tip i saw that the game doesn't allow you to select the booster that's already equipped by other teammate
Tip I accidentally did. You can use the Charger’s charge to destroy bug holes.
Armor is bugged, no extra protection for medium or heavy, just run light. Speed is king
While I agree with you 100%, there is something to be said for the “democracy protects“ trait only found on medium armor atm. Having a 50% chance to not die when you reach zero health is quite the buff.
#9 Prone is even more accurate than crouched and if you can be you should be prone firing
Extremely helpful tips, wish I knew this when I started. Would have saved a lot of resources haha.
It'd be awesome if it would allow me to play. Always get the server at capacity error.
Let it sit in queue for some time and do something else in the meantime. The most I’ve had it take was ~30 mins

I hit the queue yesterday aswell, took about 15 minutes. I don't mind the devs capping the capacity to improve stability. However, I do mind matchmaking not working with 450k concurrent players once you actually get in.
everyone must be getting unlucky as hell then, cause i literally get in within like 5 minutes of waiting
Dang would love to see more helldivers content
Tip: some enemies are better off being treated like necromorphs, spitters die in roughly half the time if you take two of their legs off and brood commanders aren't able to charge you if you take there legs off (chargers die most times if they lose just one of their legs)
It's not actually possible to equip a booster that a team mate already picked. Great tips, great game. CommRose needs work imo
Stims can be used as stamina boosters when your health is full or almost full.
Do the main mission immediately and then explore, it makes better xp. Nests are not worth destroying but theres always samples to be had.
