HELPFUL: You can literally pull the analog sticks straight out of their slots if you don't have access to a screwdriver/can't open the controller. I was literally able to flex the plastic and replace it all without opening the controller. Saved me $60.

Thanks for showing how to take it apart!
thanks i was trying to figure out how easy it was to fix my dewseign labs controller as the corner of lower outer rubber part by the trigger was knocked loose. you showed me how easy it was and got me over the notion I might break it more
Just downloading your video to watch in the dentists. They don't have WiFi or 4G access for some reason so you get the honor of entertaining me today! (gonna download another of yours as I don't think an 8 minute video will be long enough for their waiting room haha).
There are thermold plastics and thermoset plastics. One will retain a shape memory and can be coaxed back into shape by heating. Some take a permanent plastic deformation when heated. Can't remember which.
And to answer my own question (thanks google) this is likely a thermoset plastic. They are more rigid and not remoldable. Hence heating can reduce stress and return to it's set shape. Something like ABS can be remelted or reshaped with heat and has a less stable form but more flexibility.
My friend. Just pop out the loose joystick, and hold it hard to make an oval put I let back on the stick and use like a kitchen knife thats not sharp and push the stick forward as you fit the joystick over it and it will recenter it
Nice one! PS. The Screwing technics are the same for all bolts nuts and screews! Hello there, thanks to your content my dialysis of 4 hours every second day flew by. Especially i like the Tea Break Fix, quick and straight to the point. You are saving the enviroment from becoming landfills. Keep up the great work! Greetings from a phone technician.
How in the world do you find a listing like this and there's not some hidden problem that requires lots of time and/or money to fix. That's a good skill to have, finding easy-fix ebay listings.
Hey Vince, do you do a teabreak intro for every item? It seems like you'll never know if something will take 10min or 10hrs to fix before you open it to investigate.
Hey 😁 I don't. Sometimes I get caught out on a harder fix, but on those ones I can edit the hell out of them to get the time down. So the gyro ball 'tea break fix' actually should have been a 'trying to fix' as it took a while, but with editing it worked out ok 👍👍
Thanks CLC. The lights behind the monitor are built into it from the manufacturer BUT the lights around the desk were the same ones from the LED light strip video I did a few months ago. Let me know if you can't find it and I will post a link. They were the cheap ones from Amazon, still working fine though 👍 I did an Amazon affiliate link in the description of that video 😁
Fantastic! Had a controller with a slightly weird stick and aside from snapping one of the clips on the hand part of the controller, it was incredibly easy and works like a dream!
Lovely video, this boiling water trick is perfect! Vince, how about trying to fix video about sawing machine? I recently oiled my girlfriend machine for the first time and boy, this is super clever pure mechanic machine. I think you will love it! Also sounds like interesting video and women will watch it later for constant view increase :)
Thanks for this, I would like to say I got so mad I went outside and smashed my controller cause I spent two hours peeling that cover off just to find out it’s was connected in the middle so I broke my controller but instead of trying to fix it i smashed it but no need to worry cause it’s in bits and peaces now.
Hi Vince. Great video. I have one which looked the same as this but the analog stick is actually broken. You said could be a 10 min fix but looks like I will have to remove the bottom panel, remove both boards and replace the whole analog mechanism from the board and solder a replacement. Is there an easy fix??
Yeah nice fix. ^^ reminds me of my mask reshaping procedure where I put a mask into the oven which is forced into a certain shape and cool it off with cold water so it keeps the shape on its own. Also somebody please explain to me why Xbox still use batteries instead of an rechargable battery pack? I feel like in this day in age it's so wasteful especially when it comes to newer technology. Obviously an old gameboy f.e. still needs them but if you can choose between batteries and a battery pack I don't quite understand this decision. (I don't want to start a console war again I'm just curious.)
You’ve helped me fix my controller, but I have another controller that sticks when playing. It’ll zoom through the menu or character will walk on their own when playing. Not broken, but sticky. Would cleaning it fix that or is there a deeper issue needing fixed?
Vince, do you accept people sending in a broken device repairing it and returning it to the sender? Obviously they’d pay you to do so. But do you do this just wondering or do you always keep the device?
I broke my thumbnail trying to pry the handle part off, lmfao. I purchased a tool kit with knobs because my grips were bad, and this helped me! I was worried if I took it apart, it would just fall apart 🥹 not the case. This was super easy and I had it done in 5 min!

I have a question where did you get the screwdriver I’ve been looking all over my house and I can’t find a screwdriver that small and if you would tell me it would really help
It’s a security screw you can get them off Amazon you could strip the little indent in middle so you just use a regular torque screw driver which is what I did but it won’t always come out the way you’d like
When the plastic piece of analog stick is taken off the joystick underneath, are the joysticks still supposed to stick to the top/bottom/sides? I removed the analog plastic piece and the joystick underneath is sticking but in the video you showed the same..
so i have a problem with my controller, the problem is in the right joystick top where it can move, theres a slight problem because you can easily move it a bit with a slight touch, while the left joystick takes a little bit more pressure for it to move. and also when i try to "pop" it out (when you lift the joystick up and it makes that pop sound) it doesnt make any noise as the left joystick. is there a problem with the joystick itself or underneath the top joystick? because im not sure if i need to replace the bottom joystick or not and i never soldered or desoldered anything in my young life, most likely from my rage problem but im weak so its not as bad.
I'm having a random xbox one controller problem that came out of no where when I woke up this morning. My right thumbstick is stuck in the up direction, but it's not physically stuck up. It's definitely not a stick drift problem. I don't know what the hell it wrong with this. An example, when I'm on fortnite, my character is just looking straight up while I can move the right thumbstick in any direction, I only can turn left and right, but still looking straight up. Can't look down. I tried another controller and it's doing the same thing. Is it my Xbox one? I turned everything off completely, unplugged everything and tried again and it didn't work. The Xbox menu movement is like supper fast when navigating through options. I don't know if y'all knew this tho, but if you hold the right stick in any direction in the Xbox guide menu, or the home menu, the selection movement will be twice as fast, and I'm stuck with all this and I don't know what the hell is wrong. Please help!
