Also just in case someone doesn't know, they came back! Slice the Cake is now active again, they have a new song, new album in the works and they've been doing some web shows!
this entire album is a goddamn masterpiece of poetry and music. Even if you don't react to the other tracks on your channel, you gotta listen to the album. Just, absolutely moving.
Odyssey to the west was a once in a generation album. There can be nothing that matches the scale of scenery and depth of prose and poetry that I can name. An Aussie project, a thing of legend. I value this so much.
Man this whole album is so ambitious, and diverse, and.. just utterly ridiculous and divine! There's so much spoken word, and unusual joining of deathcore with western acoustics.. yeah.. just something else. I don't even like deathcore that much but when you bring in enough elements i have to pay attention. Also Gareth is incredible as s vocalist and person. He's so sweet he's talked to me more online than any other artist I've followed. By the way he's the only vocalist! Also the song was requested, i remember being happy someone else chimed them in and gave my endorsement, I'll edit if i can find which video the comment was in.
@@sonicallydisruptive lol not everything! You just happen to be reacting to most of what's come up in prog metal the last two decades and just about every band that's been my revolving playlist for years. I'm 35 now and began opeth late high school so I'm long from my honeymoon phase with a lot of this stuff. I'm just lucky you already know porcupine tree, riverside and others! Your channel's shown me Disillusion, borknagar and be'lakor.. But i mean yeah, this slice the cake album, and the title track for the man with no face by them, i listened to that 20 minute song almost every other day on the elliptical while i was in the middle of dropping 160 pounds. Glad you have the community to request so many great bands consistently and i can just focus on getting you back to caligula's horse, tesseract, and sleep token (just started them two months ago and like i said going into Jaws i'm deeply obsessed now)
@@theweegit yup i remember when it was released which caused the breakup. Even with all that said though, it's still one of the greatest albums of the decade. Sometimes in art, imperfections can be something distinctive and valued. The way that album sounds is a testament to what the artists endured creating it. Also just a minor teehee..i was reading posts by Gareth and this little sleep token story had me all like ^_^ SLICE THE CAKE ARE BACK Masonica33 5 points 2 months ago We are not sleep token. :) Fun story, was at one of their shows and someone right behind me went "That's Gareth Mason!" whilst pointing at Vessel, and I turned around all like "Nah fam :D" Love sleep token though. Sundowning is my album of the year.
Idk, I think this song is definitely on of the better songs on the album, but as a whole, it ultimately always descends into a sludge of distortion and blastbeats when they attempt to get truly heavy which just feels a bit lazy and I think people give it too much of an easy pass on this
Oh, nice that was my request actually, haha. Thank you, glad you liked it! Strongly recommend Dir en Grey - Macabre. Masterpiece of prog metal, very underrated band. This song is 16 minutes of musical theatre. ruclips.net/video/O6PwVRpa8i8/видео.html
@@sonicallydisruptive nice, slice the cake definetly have a lot of btbam influences in their sound, i think you will really enjoy their song "Voice of trespass", its from their latest album "automata ii", definetly worth your time. Thanks for the video 😀.
This album is spectacular, my actual favorite album of all time.

Best band that I’ve never heard of that I’m now just hearing of! 🤘🤘🤘

It's also unfinished, poorly mixed and could use heavy editing in some places

I knew it was a matter of time til you discovered this amazing album, I just thought it would be by request lol.
This entire album is un-fucking-real. Recommend spinning it front to back as it's essentially 1 giant song.
Jeez!! Thanks for this! Sounds like the love child of Psychotic Waltz and Opeth. Really amazing! And deliciously chaotic!
Yeah this is crazy good.
Love the guitar tones and how the song "breaths".
Great reaction! Mgła-Exercises in Futility you should hear
Thanks, I'll check it out.
Who the hell is slice the cake? Lmao. This is freaking excellent. Sounds like Norma jeans singing with an awesome scream. Definitely diving into this
They are really good.
the hidden gem
They are back together and they had a new song on the live album the released last year
Oh, nice that was my request actually, haha. Thank you, glad you liked it!

Oh I didn't recall. Sounds like I need to listen to you then. I'll check your other request soon.
@@sonicallydisruptive cool! Will be waiting for it.
heavy shit.
Incredible album, very underrated band.
Should we suggest some between the buried and me or are you already familiar with them?
I'm going to do some. I only know 1 of there records. Can't think of the name at the moment, the one which had more synth on it. Like that one alot.

lovely video
React to Persefone - inner fullness
Draconian- The Failure Epiphany. Sounds like this and Opeth.
Cool, I definitely check them out.
