The sci-fi story works as a metaphor, we humans as a species don’t need time machines and parallel universes (even if they might exist) to keep getting ourselves in trouble, being envious and destructive, often being led by love but blinded by our own impulses. We’re constantly looking for „paradise“ but getting tangled up in processes we don’t understand and pursuing things that aren’t good for us, we tend to fall farther and farther behind, often creating hell
