Excellent video, many thanks :) but I have a question ... I have a manpad in one of my missions and it can spawn radomly in any of three different locations once the mission has started using a lua script. However, I can fly right over the manpad and it will not engage me! I am flying an Su-25T and I am at tree top level at about 650 kph. I am on the red coalition and the manpad is on the blue coalition. Despite the altitude and speed I can see the manpad in plenty of time for him to see me. I was wondering if the manpad must have a comms link as a part of the setup to make it work - much like a SAM site must have a radar. My understanding is that the comms link will extend the range of the manpad but it isn't necessary to have it in the team. What are your thoughts. Thanks again for the video 😀
Thank you. You dont have to have the comms link unit. If the lua script allows you to set the skill level of the manpad then make sure it is set to high or excellent as they sometime act very dumb on lower settings. It is also possinle that your aspect to the SAM is not giving the IR seeker on the missile enough heat to lock
@@DCSChopsticks Thanks for the reply. I'll check my set-up and maybe test by flying high and slow. I have put the comms link right under my flight path about 1km out so i'll test with the comms and without and see if anything changes. Who ever thought I would fly a mision where I wanted to be fired on! 😅
All is well in the MANPADS world 😃 I tried the higher and slower thing and the MANPAD had a go, in fact three goes but thank heavens for flares in the Su-25T. I gave them a spanking with a few rockets just to show who's boss. For anyone who hasn't tried out the MANPADS in a mission, chuck a few in, they're great fun.
I always remember it as 6, but that could be from over a year ago. One of those things that's etched in my brain. We used to shoot each other a lot in the original GRAV check rides when testing 🤣
These things are so sneaky, very easy to be caught out by one of these is you stray below 11k feet.
wonderful video and very shot, thanks for the nice explanation👌🤗

correction... only 3 missiles per launcher for both types
Currently three it seems, but it was six. So who knows what it will be with the next patch.
@@DCSChopsticks really? i've never experienced 6..... and it's been 3 for a very long time now

@@DCSChopsticks all you need is 2 manpads and it could feel like 6... or 1000 =P
I know how much you love the MANPADS in the Liberation missions 🤣
