Good video and I have done mine, made the mistake and pressed the reset button instead of restore but no big drama as long as you have a note of your settings, like the green screen IT seems to give better image on high zoom. One good improvement HIK could make is keep rangefinder box on screen with full zoom range. Good video, keep them coming.
Are HIK going to do another firmware update so that the holdover marker will also be on the reticle in the pip screen or the pip reticle shifts up/down to mimic the position of the holdover point, like the Arken /DNT Zulus and please get them to change the individual dot and cross reticles to be much smaller.
Thanks for the comment fingers crossed the zoom option will be retuning. we are in talks with HIK's R&D team trying to work out the bugs and get the best features for all users.
The thing that stopped me buying it the other day when I was at the sportsman Dorchester is that you have to zoom out in day time to get the ir splash in line with the little box on screen. If you try and range find zoomed in the little box is nowhere near the splash. Have a pard no problem on that. Picture great and everything else. Good scope needs more work.
@@jackdaw3160 usually this is resolved with a change of mounts or a 20MOA rail. Having the LRF splash more centralised is an easy fix with the right mount setup.
Cheers Tim, im really liking the dot reticle in green with a match green reticle for the drop (just a smaller dot), its nice and simple, less clutter. The x1 step zoom isnt so bad once you get used to it. I would like if the zoom number was displayed when the OSD is turned off, like you i prefer the OSD off, but nice to see the zoom number somewhere.
Has this firmware upgrade been removed by Hikvision. It doesn't seem to be available on their website... the device is telling me previous version is latest. When I do a search on App it says 5.5.110 is available but it's showing as 0mb in size and then download keeps saying network error. Hot-spot all working fine
@TheNightVisionShow One question then. When new firmware installed. Do you have to redo all the profiles and zero the scope again after its installed??
Poor from HIKMicro not to announce this anywhere. I bought the alpex 4k last week and wasted a good two days emailing various people and companies to see why I couldn't download the 5.5.110 version and why it showed 0mb. This is the only place I have found the answer so well done and thank you for that, but why complete silence from KikMicro and their suppliers?
Well presented mate. Covered everything clearly. Looks like a lot of people got reset and restore mixed up, losing their zero and ballistic settings. Be handy if HIK release notes were detailed to reveal how to operate new firmware when major changes are made. Love the content of the new update. HIK seem to be listening to customer feedback. I'm looking foreword to using the 1:1 zoom multiplier, I find the continuous zoom useless (too slow to spin that dial at 0.1X increments) and 3.5/7/14/28x zoom multiplier has too big jump from 14 to 28x. 28x zoom is not much chop, not enough IR too small objective lens and sensor resolution of a potato. Maybe include all 3 options for zoom in the next update so people can choose what suits their hunting style1:1, continuous and multiplier. I'd really like to see HIK come out with another Alpex with higher base mag (like Pard and ATN currently do also). I never use 3.5X personally, starting with an objective at say 7X would be handy for what I typically need and the higher zoom levels derived digitally would be much better resolution for long range. I know IR comes into play at distance (grainy), but would be great to see the resolution we currently get at 14X extended to 28x with a higher base mag objective lens option. Extending the eye relief would be handy to consider using the product for higher calibers. The tweaks to ballistic calc are much appreciated as well as the changes made to the ballistic aim point style. A great product getting better and better with continuous development from customer feedback. Good stuff.

Hmmm, I’m not sure, “Just get on with it” is the best consumer advice from what is one of the UK’s biggest stockists of night vision equipment, what ever happened to “The Customer is always right” ?
People asked for things to get changed/added and are now unhappy. Hik is a massive company trying to please everyone is a hard thing to do. Alpex is a fanatic scope always has been but needs to usable by everyone around the world in all conditions. So one disgruntled bloke in the Uk is not going to change things.
I love my alpex 4k lrf, I'm happy with it as it is, I don't need an update, but its good for those who want it, it's a shame the Chinese can't have firearms,as that way they could try it before they decide on what firmware to use.
Agree with you all the new features seem great. Just should have kept the choice on zoom if I use it on an air rifle I like the increment steps. On a centre fire the jumps. If they bring that back it’s perfect for me.
My reticule disappeared after pressing restore!!😱Finally found I had to go back to zeroing and select profile reticule style etc and bingo it was back.❤ rate set back to normal!😮
A quick question, would a heavy recoiling rifle have a detrimental effect on this scope and its internal tech? Also would a 20 MOA rail cause any problems with accuracy?
Tim great video as always. I am not clear that after the download you need to use the restore function. I emailed Hik and they stated you do not need to use the restore function, but just turn the scope off then on again. I have done this and everything works fine and I havn't lost my ballistic data.
My Alpex 4k LRF is annoying, as the LRF ranging box is only on screen at 3.5 mag, as soon as I zoom higher the box disappears. Trying to range a small target such as a rabbit out at 150 to 200 meters at 3.5 mag it is hard to see whether the range box is on the rabbit where you want to hit it or on the grass in front or behind it. If I knew this was the case before buying it, I wouldn't have gone ahead and got it. Also the picture in picture not lining up with with the reticle and not showing aimpoint on the reticle is a distraction. Hope they intend to sort these issues very soon.
hi the lrf is calibrated from the factory to be in the box from 100-150 yards. if your box is moving of over 3.5 they all do it, but could try different hight mounts or adjustable ones. if scope is different in every rifle. I have not seen one yet where the pip lines up and there is no need for the aim marker to show in the pip as it would drop off the bottom of the screen, and be pointless.
Thanks for this video really clears up some things i didn’t understand. Love most of the update but not loving the Jump stage zoom beings removed. I Really think hik need to put that zoom back to having the choice.
