- We take a look at the new HikMicro Alpex LRF 4K Digital Day and Night Vision and answer the question on everyone's lips "Is it actually any good?"
Tim from Scott Country International is out in the field zeroing the Alpex 4K, setting up the ballistics and putting it through its paces on long range targets.

This confirms my suspicion that the absence of bullet weight from the calculation is not a good idea. It seems Hik took a shortcut with the BC and now we are expected to 'fiddle' the numbers to make it accurate. I don't agree that all Ballistic Calculstors need fiddling, the good ones are spot on...
That’s so they can bring out another version to keep people spending.
Only if you know the exact speed of the bullet. Maybe with a lab radar but most chronos aren’t that precise.
The more I’m saying about the scope and learning
The more I’m losing confidence
Why the hell would they leave the bulletbullet weight out?
@@MKChase-uj9vx I have one of these ordered
And it was going on my 308 for foxing, and the odd long-range shot out to 5/600 yards
I’ve just sold a V3 chronograph as well lol
All the people complaining about this have no idea how ballistic calculators work. None of them use bullet weight to calculate drop. Bullet weight is part of the BC, that is how it is used by the software.
Source: I have studied aeroballistics and written ballistic software, with BC referenced to multiple drag functions and using drag coefficients rather than BC for comparison.
Thanks for review, music is fine
Thanks for the comment, glad you liked the video.
A nice honest review
Hi, thanks for the comment glad you liked it will be more on the way soon.
Interesting about the range finder splash/aim point. I have seen other video where it is a lot closer to the centre of the cross hairs. I wonder if this can be adjusted at a later point like the Pard unit. Maybe this becomes more of an issue depending on where the X/Y co ordinates need to be to zero the scope.
Same might be each one is calibrated different out the factory
Hi, thanks for the comment have seen a few different positions on other videos this has been passed back to HikMicro.
Most of your complaints can be fixed with a future update which is nice, I’ve ordered mine and I’m looking forward to it. I love using my friends a50t so I’ll be stoked if it just matches that with the benefit of a LRF, working a new farm and trying to get the pests down but it’s such a flat area so it can be difficult to judge target distances at times
Hi, Thanks for the comment it's a massive jump from the A50T and with the added bonus of a LRF and BC.
Which quick release mounts would you use and what size - medium or high please. I have already ordered the scope from you. Thanks for the video.
They are 17mm imomounts high would be fine depending on hight of your rail
Sportsmatch one piece qd from Ramsbottom...I use on my Stella....Good price too
Great video/rewiew.
What I instantly see is that the eye relieff is way to short. You will join the "half moon club" pretty fast even by using a medium caliber rifle, but that's me.
Hikmicro needs to sort that out. Otherwise good product as I see it.
Hi, not had any issues with eye relief so far its been on centre fire and air rifles shooting prone and from tripod.
Do you ship these units outside the uk,ive noticed OPW do not.I have the pard DS35 70 and trying to get the alpex 4k delivered over here in 🇮🇪..
i am afraid not. due to export rules we can only supply UK end users: sorry
Get one at Tannyoky guns and ammo just outside newry
When you say, tweek the speed, did you increase it or decrease it? If the drag is g1 or g2, what did you put in? If you're using a 243 and hornady Superformance for an example, shouldnt the imput be the same for all the alpex 4k?
Was using home loads done a bold change of 20 mps then I was on
@@findfixcc6 was the poi high or low? did you increase or decrease the mv by 20mps to make it spot on?
Hi, The POI was high so dropped down 20MPS. this is all part of the fine tuning process Tim was talking about.
Thank you
Is there an option on this scope for the smaller box screen to show up. So what you sime at is on the large screen but the smaller box shies it as well. ?
Hi, Thanks for the comment box screen ? do you mean the LRF box ? if so its set from the factory. the LRF aiming box can not be moved.
I think you mean picture in picture and yes, it has it
lrf in yards and M/sec sounds a little weird. however, i use meters for ranging and feet/sec. i quess that's a little weird too. great looking unit. bit of a step up from my old pard 008lrf. only thing i would miss is the built in ir. pard feels compact and the built in ir gets the job done most the time, foxes out to 200M is normal on a good clear night.
I had a built in IR on my Pulsar N450, but replaced it with a wicked light IR, why increase the cost of the A50EL when most people will have a better IR option? You want more it will cost you more.
@@kelletman and i'd pay more. for my situation, a built in IR scope works best for me. I live on a rural property that when i see a fox, wild dog, cat etc in the paddock, i have a small amount of time to waste to go grab the rifle from safe and shoot it. i do also have a great external ir already.
What mounts are you using please?
Hi in this vid they are the innomounts but I would recommend thesewww.scottcountry.co.uk/products/britannia-qr
How does this compare in daylight and night clarity of picture to the Digex C50?
Hi,Thanks for the comment, we think it's a more detailed and sharper at longer range .
Is this something you sale? If so what’s the price@@TheNightVisionShow
@@randybaker9628 yes you can buy it here www.scottcountry.co.uk/products/hikmicro-alpex-lrf-4k-digital-night-vision-scope

If i set up the ballistic calculator would you use the information off the box of the bullets?
Yes then fine tune it
@findfixcc6 OK thanks how do you mean fine tune it ?and how do you convert it to meters per second eny help would be good looking at buying this scope
@@mattk7715adjusting the mps till you hit center of the target not the top or bottom. I just googled a converter or divide the speed value by 3.281
@findfixcc6 could I find the meters per second off strelok Pro am using 53g super performance bullets
if its factory ammo can find it on the box, but to get the most actuate data better using a chronograph.
What quick detach mounts are used in this video?
Hi, Thanks for the comment they are theThe Innomount Quick Release 2 piece mount system. www.scottcountry.co.uk/products/innomount-2-piece-quick-release-mount
Thanks for the quick reply. Do you know if the 1 mount innomount quick release will work with this scope?
Yes it will indeed but will need 17mm @@formanhe
What ir torch was used on the rats?
Wicked A67iR
Compared to the other products on the market like the Arken Zulus, the Hic Alpec IS VERY HEAVY over 1 Kilo, thats virtually twice the weight of the Arken Zulus, which has similar features,
Happy Days.
Hi, Thanks for the comment yes but some people like the 30mm scope tube more then say a Arken shape.
Its like saying the British people like the miserable little sunak !!!! If you are right why are so many Alpecs appearing on the secondhand scene & being replaced with lighter Arken products?@@TheNightVisionShow
Is it as good as the TD70
Hi, Thanks for the comment. The image on the a
Alpex 4k at night is more crisp at distance, and it has a built in LRF and BC. The TD70L is still a very good unit.
Be good to see some long range night footage instead of the rat footage, some of us tend to shoot most of our quarry past 200y
Can see the rabbits at over 200 yards a fox would be fine
No one with a brain shoots past 200yds at night.
@@buckrussel3808I feel sorry for your lack of skill, I have comfortably taken foxes out past 400y at night 🤷♂️
@@ArtisOutdoors cause you have mate. With your .204 no doubt or .22/250
Not a lack of skill. Guess I’m just a lot more sensible and don’t take stupid risks.
I tend to have a bit more respect for foxes and don’t wish to leave anything to chance.
I feel sorry for your lack of maturity.
@@buckrussel3808your assumption on both calibers is completely wrong.
Maturity and sensibility has nothing to do with effectively doing a job, you have no idea of location I shoot and if you think someone needs a 204 to efficiently shoot past 200y again shows your lack of knowledge and skill.
You best have a moan at 260 rips for dropping foxes at 800y 😂
That’s a lot more difficult than a 300y shot at night 😂
Nothing to do with the alpex.... But what jackets that , looks decent and warm!
Hi, we will ask Tim and get back to you, but its from Ridgeline.
they are Ridgeline below zero be lucky to get one now they are discontinued. but yes they are warm @@TheNightVisionShow

Hi,Thanks for your comment glad you enjoyed the video, it works fine for us.
Its a digital camera without an IR filter. lol. Another astroturfing campaign begins.
