It's extremely rare that all 3 films in a trilogy are good, let alone great but this is one I can say all 3 are great. War definitely breaks the trilogy curse and elevates the entire trilogy. Effective story. Amazing 3 dimensional characterization. Emotional throughout. One of the best of this century. Well deserve praise.
Owen Buckner The Dark Knight Rises wasn't as great as The Dark Knight, but it was still ok
Lotr is the only other one I can think of. Dark knight rises was crap. Dont put the the batman trilogy in the same convo as this one and lotr.

TheMasterQuests LOTR, Toy Story, and the new Apes trilogy are my favorite movie trilogies of all time. I wish I could've liked Return of the Jedi more, but it's still a decent trilogy.

The human condition and hero's journey elements of all three movies are what make this franchise one of the best trilogies of all time. Great way to end the series with a potential best movie of the year... Also RIP Caesar, that shit got me at the end

Yup...if there was a ever a way to describe the movie to anyone interested in watching it. This is exactly it....
It was an emotional ride. Cesar's characterization was OG. He has the "I just smelled a dirty diaper" face half the movie. Didn't flinch with a gun in his face. Whenever he showed up, everybody would stop and look. Lastly, I agree. I did want the colonel to explode. Like meteor from space explode. I did cry at the end, " the struggles is over, sleep now" scene. Tried, couldn't stop.
Managed to not cry during the entire film.
And then that scene................That last fucking scene hit like a wrecking ball.
I legit hadn't cried that hard since my sister died 9 years ago.
If they don't nominate this for Best Picture we riot.

This film looks amazing! If a man can make you hate his character so much with his acting he's done his job very well. That's what makes this stuff so effective. It helps you look at your own morality, how far you'd go with things, or not.

Favorite scene was when the Colonel was trying to break Ceasar is the quarry by having him whipped in front of the other apes, and he would not submit
Bright Eyes, Ceasars aon, said they needed time to prepare to leave. Maurice backed him up. Winter wanted to leave. He was scared and knew he made a deal with the "donkey".
The funny thing is, I watched a couple interviews with director Matt Reeves. He said that there wasn't going to be much humanity in this movie, like there was in the last one. He said that this time, he was focused on the war. This movie had more humanity that the 2nd one. From top to bottom.
The Caeser and Moses parallels are awesome.

ANDY SERKIS HAS TAKEN MOTION CAPTURE TECHNOLOGY A LONG WAY.MOTION CAPTURE HAS REALY MADE WORK EASIER.IMAGINE IF THE APE SCENES HAD TO BE ANIMATED MANUALLY?MOTION CAPTURE TECHNOLOGY IS A LIFE SAVER.
The Media Table facial animation is still done frame to frame.
+Taran Singh I meant imagine if the movements, like if everything had to be done manually. The motion capture does 75-80 percent of the work. The facial animation done manually I do in fact know about.

Couldn't agree more, this was a great movie. Never in my life had I felt so emotionally moved by a movie in cinemas. And the action was all-out, never let up, has quite possibly one of the very-best action-packed climaxes ever. Definitely a 10/10. ;)

just saw it yesturday and i almost fucking cried at the end
I loved the entire movie except for one scene that completely ripped me out of the film: when Nova (the little girl) walked through THE FRONT GATE of the base, walked RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE, and NOT A SINGLE GUARD NOTICED HER! Holy shit were they all compelled by God to just look the other way for story purposes? I mean come on man, these are supposed to be elite soldiers, and a little girl in a parka just walks through willy nilly without getting spotted? Come on now.
Other than that, however, it was fucking excellent. The story, the action, the acting all wonderful. I especially loved that ending made me tear up a little, reminded me a lot of the end of Book of Eli:
"I finished the race, I kept the faith"
Yes, you did Ceasar. Yes, you did.

Matt Reeves has officially made his mark. He went straight to my top ten list of favorite directors after LET ME IN.
He's done an incredible job with the Apes films, and when it was announced he was doing Batman.. I lost my shit.
I just pray, seriously pray.. Warner Bros. and Ben Affleck really let him shoot his vision and give him as much creative control as humanly possible. I'll go postal if they take the film away from him and re-edit or pull some Suicide Squad shit on him.

I really really liked this movie...I saw the last one "Dawn" like 3 times in the theaters. The CGI and facial expressions alone are so god dam impressive, but the story telling and writing are so well done that it's just an amazing experience I thought and it's always an interesting dynamic in a movie when you find yourself rooting against your own species. Granted they made these soldiers and their Colonel super evil and nazi ish lol..
