Nice write up Chris! :-) Couple of comments - 1.) Bonnet release handle; make sure you don't try to replace the early Rev B with a Rev C (shown). The lever and mounting brackets are not interchangeable. 2.) Correct! Replace them at least every 20,000-km. 3.) Sagging seats is an old, well known problem for the Mk2. 4.) You might want to change your plugs at the same time. Go with OEM coil packs. Red tops make no difference, they just look nice. ;-) 5.) Be sure to install the extra ground/earth wire on both tail light assemblies. While you're at it, replace all the bulbs. Other issues you can learn about from the Audi Forum UK - 1.) Quattro Haldex filters; there are two which are not mentioned by Audi and are almost always over looked. They should both be replaced when you replace the fluid. 2.) Convertible top failure; easy to prevent by cleaning the Roof Flap Servos. If you get a DTC, it's an easy Adaptation with VCDS (Not available on OBDeleven) 3.) Front drains under the plenum. One of the main causes of water getting into the cabin. Simple DIY. 4.) Coolant flush. Audi says it's "lifetime" but coolant breaks down and looses it's ability to cool and lubricate. Should be flushed at 100,000km or 10-years. 5.) Accessory belt, pulleys and tensioner. Another "miss" on the Audi list. The belt ages over time and should be replaced as a system at 100,000km or 10-years. Just come across this channel. Had my ttfsi since 2008. Bought it new. Not had any of these problems apart from the rear light earth. And the glove box breaking. Been the most reliable car ive ever had. I service it every 4k. Bit of an overkill but never let me down
I had the rear light earth issue been 2 years since fix all well. Another issue I had was the passenger window not going all the way up on door closure - 5mm Allen key adjustment screws accessed from bottom of door. Leak into boot - took ages to diagnose but after a few false starts I found it coming through the rear spoiler lift area, cleaned it and applied clear silicon, job done.
the rear earth mod is a great fix which I have done a few years ago with no problem since .And thanks for the input for the other issues you have had they will help other with similar problems 👍
Seems like I have developed a battery drain on my TT 8J. Battery is only a year old. Battery is good when disconnected. Is there anything common worth focusing on first? Before pulling fuses.
Hi, This is so true. I own a Audi TT 2007 and have had the common issues of release lever broke, engine sign, left parking light turned off and also one day Airbag sign came up.
For manual, the push to start clutch it’s a issue for the clutch bearing (no oil if engine is not running). It can be solved by interceping the clutch sensor signal
Thanks champ. Good content so I can make some changes before they become a problem. Already had the rear light problem. Cam follower was a good one. Oil pickup line is another potential problem if it blocks up.
Yes I had the problem with number hood handle, the leather seat , and the rear light , and also when driving on high speed specially in the motorway, there’s a lot of wind , hissing noise coming from the vent
I can say that at least 2 of them are true by experience , i got the rear lights failure warning (but everything is ok with them tho) , and also the hood leveler broke and was replaced. Nice video.

Or is this only a petrol engine thing?
Its in the ea113 petrol engine so diesel is fine
