While I'm sure this video will help many people unfortunately neither my phone nor my TV have any screen mirroring capabilities, I can only screen cast (which is different) YT videos using DLNA And a chromecast dongle is too expensive so i would rather just get a USBC to HDMI cable Thank you for the detailed video
Thanks for your comment I thought long and hard about whether to include DLNA in this video because it's really great if it works in your application with your devices. I use it every day because neither a Chromecast video dongle nor Airplay (or Sonos for that matter) will play music above 48Khz sample rates. Unfortunately the implementation from manufacturers is patchy. Some don't work properly due to bugs, Some use the DLNA protocols for their branded systems but intentionally make sure competitors products don't inter-operate. In the end I realized that including DLNA in this video would confuse more than it would inform and left it for another day. Thanks again for the comment I really appreciate the feedback and ideas for future videos.
@rogergadgetguy no thank you kind sir Of course all this hassle can easily be solved if they included Bluetooth capabilities with smart TVs and then casting using Bluetooth but no everything has to be complicated
Thanks I downloaded a version of screen mirror on the Play Store for my Pixel 8 to cast to my Samsung TV and it worked great. The app did cost me 18 dollars for lifetime to use ad-free which is worth it.
Hi Roger Thanks for the info. What is the app you use? I'd like to try it. and likely many others who see this will too. There are so many apps the ones I tried were very slow and unreliable.
What do you recommend to wireless screen mirror from my s22 using dex to newer sony tvs that dont come with screen mirroring? I stream in hd with the internet browser on my phone.
Hi Anil It would be nice to be able to connect with Bluetooth. Although you can send video over Bluetooth, it has to be either very low resolution or very low frame rate due to bluetooth bandwidth limitations. Video over bluetooth is really only suitable for security cameras and baby monitors.

Hello i need a google chromecast wich i have to cast my smartphone to the tv however im not satisfied with te quality and would like to improve the quality is it possible to connect both physically to the tv for better quality? Please assist.
Hi There are some phones that support HDMI through their USB C connectors but it is not common (Google your phone model or contact the manufacturer to find out) If it does then you will need an USB C to HDMI cable to connect to your TV.
@@jridge16 Unless your phone is very old you may be able to download a software update. It's worth updating to the latest Android version available for your phone.
I'm trying to mirror my phone screen for streaming purposes. when I do the wireless casting method, the quality really suffers, and the stream is choppy. on my Google pixel 8, I can just use a USB to HDMI adapter to get a high quality mirror. problem is, the phone that I want to mirror doesn't appear to do that? like I plug in the same adapter to the same capture card, and it just does nothing. is there any way for me to get it to accept wired mirroring?
There are a few phones that Support HDMI through USB but it is not common. The wireless that I show is WiFi not bluetooth since bluetooth doesn't support video.
Haven't tried your advice yet. I have two questions. I run my smart screen tv through my video. Will it still work with your advice? The other thing that happened, I had a scathing argument with my telco for not bundling my wifi and broadband together. I told them to cut off my broadband and I will never use my laptop again. They cut off the broad band, and now my built in RUclips will not work on my tv. Tried to use hot spot and cromecast dongle but the wifi numbers they request which was on my wifi dongal is not accepted for cromecast or hot spot.
I remember a few years ago when I parted ways with AT&T. They asked me why. I said simply "Because I hate you !", so I do empathise with your situation. Unfortunately many of the services we use depend on that internet access, even when the actual data transfer stays within our homes. Phone to TV is a good example. The developers of apps simply assume that the home WiFi network will be connected to the internet. These services use the internet in the background to connect to servers, which among other things, help to establish the connection with the various devices in your home, and validate that all the devices are indeed yours, and not some rogue hacker. All modern home electronics runs on software. If you don't have a deep understanding of how the software works for a device or app you will not be able to guess if it will work, for a non-typical configuration like using the hot spot feature of your phone,. Even if it should/could/might work, the developer has almost certainly never tested it and debugged it for that use case. That being said, thanks to wireless 5G technology we now have more choices for home internet service. For most homes there is now the option of the Cable TV company, the Telephone company, and a couple of the 5G providers. In some places there are also small, nimble, customer oriented local upstart companies that I would personally choose if they served my neighborhood. Almost nobody needs the super high speed services, so keep it basic, and shop for the best deal. I provided my own modem and router too, to avoid paying the crazy high rental price for those.
No ridiculous here, The whole point is using what we've got. It saves money and the planet; win win. You can attach a Google TV Device or FireTV stick to a computer monitor like a Flatron even if it's old and has no HDMI. Then you can screen mirror or watch Netflix etc. You'll need an HDMI to VGA adapter like this, amzn.to/4erV5kF . If you are already using the VGA input for your computer you can use a switch like this. amzn.to/3O5El89
What no one explains how to mirror like Bluetooth. Had LG v30 that could connect any TV without wifi. Now I have samsung a14 no screen mirroring or can't use usb c to hdmi. Is their program that does screen mirroring like Bluetooth or just get phone that has that capability.
The best way to screen mirror without WiFi is to use HDMI through USB c and as you say not all phones have that capability. You can't use bluetooth for video it doesn't have sufficient bandwidth, and I have never heard of a TV that has a Bluetooth receiver (Most modern TV's will transmit bluetooth audio but not receive.) It's theoretically possible to use WiFi direct so you wouldn't need an existing WiFi system but I've never done it.
Hi Matej, There are many receivers on the market that can provide for wireless screen mirror. These were designed for PCs and they all have different limitationswhen used with phones. Some require a matching transmitter, some need an HDMI or other adapter to be added to your phone, and some lack content protection and don't work with all video content. Because of the bewildering array of limitations and exceptions I have chosen not to test any of these devices. If you decide to try, make sure it works for your specific phone version, and supports all the things you want to do. And make sure you understand if you need any kind of adapter for your phone.
My roku tv worked perfect..just bought a bigger older vizio and now i cant cast to it..this sucks...my vizio is connected to same wifi connection as my s23fe..anyone know how i can wirelessly?
how to connect phone screen to tcl android tv by goggle home appliancation in phone once i deleted android tv option from my home application how to recover it in home application
Hi Since you were able to cast to another Roku TV it appears that your phone does support miacast which is the technology Roku uses, but not all Android phones support.. Try going to the settings and and under "screen mirroring mode" select "Always Allow" If screen mirror still doesn't work you may have incompatible versions on your phone and TV miracast is quite a minefield of different implementations. You may still be able to play personal videos photos and songs stored on your phone using the "Play on Roku" feature of the Roku Mobile app.
If you get a moment please may you show me how to do this on the Nokia g11 to a smart TV that is LG web SOS I will admit without your help I will really struggle I use RUclips all the time ❤ thank you ? Then how do you turn it off and on?🤔
Hi Lucy, I just noticed that you also posted a different question about your remote control This answer may address both your questions. Your TV and phone support different incompatible forms of screen casting. To use your phone with your TV you will need to add a Chromecast enabled device this means either the confusingly named "Chromecast with Google TV" or an Android TV box from another manufacturer . You may also prefer the user interface and the remote control of these devices to the Web OS installed on your TV.
So if I use the Google home app which my android has but I have not set up my question is do I need Wi-Fi or internet I'm trying to cast to my TV without Internet I do however have unlimited Data using moto g stylus mobile phone to Samsung TV please help
On a samsung TV you will need to add a chromecast for the google home app to find the TV for casting. The chromecast will need a WiFi connection to the internet to set it u. . The phone and the Chromecast need to be on the same wifi network.
@@sherrisolomon8673 There is indeed, and if the app you are using supports it ,casting is usually better , both for screen formatting and avoiding unwanted information showing up on your TV screen.
I'm looking to screen cast from android Samsung phone to a non smart TV in a scenario where I won't have WiFi. Will the chrome cast solution still work please?
I do not know of any screen cast solution that works without a Wi Fi network. To go to a location with no WiFi you would have to set up a local hot spot and log Phone and TV in to that.
That is a really great channel, I subscribed at once, it's super nice that Roger replies to a lot of comments with very very helpful advice! Very rare on RUclips! Standard Android supports casting to chromecast from the swipe down actions and settings (Flashlight, Bluetooth, screen record etc.) Smasung Phones and some others replace that feature with casting to their own TV's which may or may not work with LG TV's and definitely will not work with chromecast. If using the Google Home app is too clunky then go to Settings> Connected Devices>Connection Preferences> Cast. You should then see your Chromecast. With all types of screen mirroring the phone and the TV need to be on the Same WiFI. Range extenders, Powerline adapters, switches and other intermediary devices to aid connection back to a distant router often prevent device discovery by your phone. The router settings themselves can also get in the way.
See my android doesn't do any of this. Does even acknowledge when I do the type c to hdmi but the tv does then when I try to do this the tv wants me to do a older screen cast called Mirra cast but it doesn't exsist anymore to download on my phone so wth.
Hi, Miracast on a TV will not work with most phones. It won't work with iPhones and it mostly doesn't work with Android. The only situation I'd really recommend using Miracast is Samsung Phones on a Samsung TV where Samsung have made some updates to both the TV and phones to get it to work right. The only really dependable way to screen mirror with a non Samsung Android phone is to use Chromecast. Fortunately you can do this on any TV by plugging an external device into a spare HDMI port. There is a Google TV stick, the Onn Streaming Stick which supports chromecast that costs only $15 I've tested it and it works great for screen mirror with Android. Any Android phone that is less than 6 years old phone will mirror to it using the Google Home App. Here's a link to the streaming stick; www.walmart.com/ip/onn-Google-TV-Full-HD-Streaming-Device-New-2023/2262757145?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1755&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=222222222772262757145_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=aud-2225087347667:pla-394283752452&wl5=1014129&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=2262757145&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwyo60BhBiEiwAHmVLJZAI4QDtPwv6blxhqAdOpJimpKI5WtO-I0KpGqt3Ic-7EXvAnN6ObRoCdn0QAvD_BwE
Hi Sam if the only connection to your TV is via a broadcast receiving antenna then you will not be able to screen mirror wirelessly. Your TV needs to be connected to WiFi in some way, either directly or with a video streamer like a Chromecast.
I have a Smart Samsung TV and a 4 or 5 year old Samsung Galaxy phone that I can use Smart View with only anttenna but I can't figure out how to make it work with my Vizio TV
@@ricknelson4793 The Vizio TV may not support Samsung Smart View. Recent Vizio smart TV's have google TV built in. You can mirror to TV.s with Google TV from Samsung phones, by using the Google Home App. How to do that is shown at 2m 25s in the Video.

Motorola phones run a very standard version of Android without a lot of add ons. They screen mirror to Chromecast out of the Box. If you have a TV that doesn't support chromecast. Any chromecast, Google TV or Android TV video streamer can be plugged in to a spare HDMI port will give you that capability.
There is a thing called wifi Direct that doesn't need a WiFi router for a connection. Your phone probably has it so check to see if it's available on your TV. Miracast works over WiFi Direct, Chromecast doesn't. My personal experience with Miracast over WiFi direct hasn;t been good. It dropped the connection repeatedly for no obvious reason, and making the connection in the first place was pretty hit and miss. Your TV may work better.......or not.
Hi ,I have never seen a TV that is capaple of Video input through a USB port. USB on most TV's is only for software updates and to power external devices. You could try a USBC to HDMI adapter, it should work. I have not tried this on a Samsung phone but I would expect samsung to support this capability.. Alternatively you could use a chromecast or android TV stick Full HD versions of these can be purchased for less than $30.
Hi Lucinda Not having screen cast in the pull down menu is not a big deal if you have a TV with Google TV or chromecast or you have a Google TV or chromecast device attached. Just look for the chromecast symbol in the app you want to use, and select the TV you want do cast the content to. This is better than screen mirroring because the app formats the content for the TV screen better, you don't get texts or alerts popping up on the big screen and the phone gets freed up for other things. You can be sending and receiving texts and your casted content keeps playing. If your TV doesn't have Google TV or Chromecast You can add it with a device like this for just $15! www.walmart.com/ip/Google-TV-Full-HD-Streaming-Device-NEW-2023/2262757145?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1630&adid=222222222772262757145_117755028669_12420145346&wmlspartner=wmtlabs&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-306310554666&wl5=9032666&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=2262757145&wl13=1630&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&&adid=222222222372262757145_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-306310554666&wl5=9032666&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=2262757145&veh=sem&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5cOwBhCiARIsAJ5njuYwm6G-_W2_eMF3ENNwgcLMUfW8uWFMgSN-Tnzv_k_Sftn7P1kHlo8aAutxEALw_wcB I've tested this streaming stick it works great!

Samsung and LG both use miracast technology but they are not in lock step as to which version they are using or what enhancements they have added which may lead to compatibility problems. Apple have done a great job in convincing all the TV manufacturers to include their Airplay code, they set the standard for both ends so it works great. Android can work just as easily with a clean version of android (for example Motorola or Google) and a TV running Google software (for example Sony or Vizio) Unfortunately some companies like Samsung want to add their own proprietary branded modifications to Android, and they design their phones and TV's to work together with their own tech, which causes problems with other brands. You CAN get a Samsung phone to work with a Sony TV but it is not obvious how, and not as simple as it should be.

I show in the video how to mirror to TV’s that have Chromecast built in the Onn stick works exactly the same. www.walmart.com/ip/onn-Google-TV-Full-HD-Streaming-Device-New-2023/2262757145?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1755&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=222222222772262757145_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=aud-2225087347667:pla-394283752452&wl5=1014129&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=2262757145&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwkdO0BhDxARIsANkNcrf4zR-6S8h6X6TGGmDkRPY5OkmZ2olIPj0U7gbNjW0QQh_y8AYZIdsaApDrEALw_wcB
I have a galaxy A05s and a Bush tv . Both are brand new and it seems it's impossible to watch things like football matches I can get through my mobile to my tv screen. I could do this on my older Redmi phone very easily so how come the simplest of things like wireless connection from any phone to any TV isn't possible. I'll tell you why. It's because phone and TV manufacturers can be incredibly selfish and greedy and want you to just buy their brand for EVERYTHING in your home. Makes me so annoyed.
All I want is a dummy TV, 24 or 27 inch, that I can mount on the wall and mirror to (without wifi) with my Samsung S21FE. Has no one put together a tried and true kit for accomplishing this? 1. Here is the TV [direct link to buy] 2. Here is how to connect 3. Tools/cables/dongles/ etc required 4. Setup: Phone & TV 5. Done
If you don't want to use Wifi then you need to connect via an HDMI cable since bluetooth does not have the bandwidth for Data. To do that you need a USBC to HDMI adapter. This link is to an article by a manufacturer of one of those devices describing how to use with Android I already checked your phone model it does support video out of USB C port. www.anker.com/blogs/hubs-and-docks/how-to-use-usb-c-to-hdmi-android and here is a link to their adapter. www.amazon.com/Anker-Aluminum-Pixelbook-Compatible-Thunderbolt/dp/B07THJGZ9Z?crid=9PVRUM84WBWA&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.UJHosLCl-dXFJ4b2TzawjlNpurz3a-6DlBpKEQi-22lpHgxCzsmKDyu3GtmtYOl9QuIFXtSnK1TtBDFGYL7qc22GbsiFu4iwGL8a2tNMSuQ7ot5Eb1vDcKQnv5nAEeDQnD_E6czmIaWyoP7sBLv1XpHrjNnBfQmODeYuyWHVV8vfFcBltXVBf3r1xrSlc-qo3cLh53K_CTayePSzT_63icy6v0VTtYaQHAkgQtj3FGE.Vu7XKStwVnuNaqFQYFRsk19GBDZ-gN4TJmoIdJaPi8E&dib_tag=se&keywords=Olixar%2BUSB-C%2Bto%2BHDMI%2B4K%2B60Hz%2BAdapter%2Bfor%2BTVs%2Band%2BMonitors&qid=1714953161&sprefix=olixar%2Busb-c%2Bto%2Bhdmi%2B4k%2B60hz%2Badapter%2Bfor%2Btvs%2Band%2Bmonitors%2Caps%2C152&sr=8-4&th=1&linkCode=ll1&tag=rogergadgetgu-20&linkId=f29b911d74d119a1e525319a67c6af5b&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl
Smart view on many phones (for example Samsung) uses Miracast technology which Sony does not support. To screen cast on Sony with this type of phone you will need to use the google home app. You can find this in the video at 2m:25s
I agree chromecast sucks what if i want to download my movies and watch them off the grid with no lag at great quality you cant do that with chrome cast
Installed it. Full of permissions requests and nothing but persistent ads. Have now uninstalled it. In this day and age, why is it so difficult to watch your own self taken photos and particularly videos, on your own television?
Hi The built in screen mirror feature on the Fire TV doesn't work with many android phones. I have been able to get the Fire TV to work by downloading the AirRceiver app onto the fire TV. Although this app is mainly intended for iPhone users if you check the "Google Cast' box in the settings it will screen mirror with any android phone using the Google Home app on the phone. The Air receiver app is a $3 one time purchase.
How to fix the black bars on top and bottom of the picture on the tv screen when you are screen casting? I tried everything and cannot find a solution.... I got a tcl tv yesterday and i feel so irritated with those 2 black bars 😢
I don't have $75 per month for Wifi so basically im screwed i only have bt. Cost of living has locked me out of the basic technology that many take for granted.
Hi The $75 per month is for the internet connection I've often seen internet providers trying to up to sell a faster level of service than we really need. The absolutely slowest level of service just basic internet connection is liusually all that's needed and should be significantly cheaper. if your current provider won't do it, check your area for the lowest cost provider. WiFi itself is free to use in your home.
In 2024, none of these apps is free. I am not sure I understand the logic of having to pay for an app to cast photos from a Samsung smartphone to a Samsung tv, or from Google photos to RUclips Tv. Does a subscriber have to PAY for every single feature s/he desires to use in these systems?
You can attach a Chromecast to any TV which will work with any Android phone made after 2018. If you don't want to buy a Chromecast, There's a $15 HDMI stick I've tested since I did the video, that works just as well. www.walmart.com/ip/onn-Google-TV-Full-HD-Streaming-Device-New-2023/2262757145?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1630&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=222222222772262757145_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=9032666&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=2262757145&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw8fu1BhBsEiwAwDrsjIS2GJaM3z-V3LTWakOG4P_KketFpjNqqyTLQLJOdmkfIPvPaP6UvxoCfHgQAvD_BwE
Thx very much for the $15 fix...unfortunately, I found yet another reason to never buy another Motorola phone as it's not Miracast compatible nor able to send video through the USB C port. -Cheers!
Very sad I worked for Motorola for 36 years, great memories, great engineers, great hardware, not good at user software. After Wall Street pushed out the founder's grandson in 2003 the company values changed to the "greed is good" variety. When the Marketing Maestro Geoffry Frost ("Hello Moto") passed away in 2004 the air went out of the company his vision (The media monster, he called it) ended up being done by Apple first and became the iPhone. The Motorola brand is now used by Lenovo the Chinese company and most of the phones are re-badged Lenovo products, though they still have a small design center in Chicago
You do not need a smart TV. This video covers Any TV with HDMI If you want to be precise I could have said any TV made in the last 20 years. If your TV predates HDMI there are still ways but they are a bit Klugy and I really didn't think there would be enough interest to put them in the video. If your TV has HDMI then just add a chromecast (or a Fire TV) I show that in the video. You only need the cheaperst versions since no TV that is not a Smart TV will need more than 1080p resolution. If chromecast or Fire TV is too costly then I found this stick for $15 that works just as well. www.walmart.com/ip/Google-TV-Full-HD-Streaming-Device-NEW-2023/2262757145?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2925&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=222222222772262757145_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=1014129&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=2262757145&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw3NyxBhBmEiwAyofDYeAJ-RXH6ghMm94C32e23OZ_3gB1ELUVxnKAHnwE6ckbhhhZxbq0JhoC3-wQAvD_BwE
Hi Adam, You have to be able to establish some kind of communication between the Phone and TV. The iPhone has a lightning connector, bluetooth WiFi and cellular phone connections. A non smart TV has HDMI and maybe component or composite video. There is no overlap so you will need something to translate between the two. The answer to whether it is possible without buying anything depends on what you already have (a Roku streamer or apple TV for example). If you do not already have any means to make the connection then the cheapest way to mirror an iPhone to a non smart TV is to use a lightning to HDMI adapter and connect to an HDMI input on the TV.. An adapter like this one is $10 www.amazon.com/Certified-Lightning-Digital-Adapter-Converter/dp/B0CPJJ1DZ5?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=ybjiQ&content-id=amzn1.sym.d0ebfbb2-6761-494f-8e2f-95743b37c35c%3Aamzn1.symc.50e00d6c-ec8b-42ef-bb15-298531ab4497&pf_rd_p=d0ebfbb2-6761-494f-8e2f-95743b37c35c&pf_rd_r=DWZRRN6BQG67QQV5XAJ4&pd_rd_wg=ZSAZ0&pd_rd_r=b449f1b2-71f6-4344-8211-e3ef2502a94a&linkCode=ll1&tag=rogergadgetgu-20&linkId=b1e995595127a8cf3cd65a460a604905&language=en_US&ref_=as_li_ss_tl

Video: how to connect Android that specifically have this kind of Cast to a specific kind of tv.
Fr those ppl just say what someone could find out by themselfes if they have the specific kind tv
While I'm sure this video will help many people unfortunately neither my phone nor my TV have any screen mirroring capabilities, I can only screen cast (which is different) YT videos using DLNA
And a chromecast dongle is too expensive so i would rather just get a USBC to HDMI cable
Thank you for the detailed video
@rogergadgetguy no thank you kind sir
Of course all this hassle can easily be solved if they included Bluetooth capabilities with smart TVs and then casting using Bluetooth but no everything has to be complicated

What do you recommend to wireless screen mirror from my s22 using dex to newer sony tvs that dont come with screen mirroring? I stream in hd with the internet browser on my phone.
If we added a Blutooth adapter with monitor then we easily use monitor for phone display???
Hi Anil It would be nice to be able to connect with Bluetooth. Although you can send video over Bluetooth, it has to be either very low resolution or very low frame rate due to bluetooth bandwidth limitations. Video over bluetooth is really only suitable for security cameras and baby monitors.

Anyone got any recommendations for a miracast device? My 2020 Philips TV doesn't see my S23+ at all.
Hi. Trying to cast from a pixel 9 pro to my LG TV , any help please ?
Hi, Unfortunately the Pixel 9 uses google cast and the LG TV uses Miracast. I have tried several Miracast apps on a Google Pixel but None I have tried has been reliable enough for me to recommend. You can get a Google TV stick for $15 from Wal Mart it works well for screen mirroring from a Pixel Phone. www.walmart.com/ip/onn-Google-TV-Full-HD-Streaming-Device-New-2023/2262757145?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&sourceid=dsn_ad_67b24a3e-8de0-4c6a-a2eb-385363192ede&veh=dsn&wmlspartner=dsn_ad_67b24a3e-8de0-4c6a-a2eb-385363192ede&cn=FY25-Holiday-GIFT-PMax_con_dps_dsn_dis_ad_xcat_s_n&gclsrc=aw.ds&wl9=pla&wl11=online&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAo5u6BhDJARIsAAVoDWvDTGuoAe4c7iJRYc5noCf2rDDF6D29NadtGlBpefLsdX7GoK26ycUaAsNsEALw_wcB

Hi There are some phones that support HDMI through their USB C connectors but it is not common (Google your phone model or contact the manufacturer to find out) If it does then you will need an USB C to HDMI cable to connect to your TV.
Thanks so much !!I went a week without any TV
Hi I'm a human 😮
My samsung phones don't have a casting function on pull down menu. Any help would be great
Try going to Settings > Connected Devices > Connection Preferences > Cast should be one of the options.

Many phone manufacturers reserve that feature for their expensive flagship models. If HDMI through USB is not supported, wireless is your only option.
I have a Samsung 9+ and Smart View worked on my TCL Google TV and a TCL Roku tv. Thanks!!
So it can only be done thru air/Bluetooth. No way to physically connect your device to your tv thru the USB port?
Ridicolous ahead: i have an old LG flatron i have an usb only is there a way to mirror? It says usb unservicable
Thank you, whats best best screen mirror to be download that is free
My HONOR 9A connect and play on my TV screen only when I am playing RUclips, with Netflix or dstv streaming does not work at all
Do you know any solution for make a custom receiver (not using existing app) for android/ios mirroring to a tv?
Hi Matej, There are many receivers on the market that can provide for wireless screen mirror. These were designed for PCs and they all have different limitationswhen used with phones. Some require a matching transmitter, some need an HDMI or other adapter to be added to your phone, and some lack content protection and don't work with all video content. Because of the bewildering array of limitations and exceptions I have chosen not to test any of these devices. If you decide to try, make sure it works for your specific phone version, and supports all the things you want to do. And make sure you understand if you need any kind of adapter for your phone.
How about LG TVs I haven't been able to get mine to hook up to anything and it's a brand new TV and I've got three cell phones

I have a onn roku tv my casst want receive cast but my Philips Roku d id ?? How do I cast to my onn
Much better to setup a server with upnp if you are going to stream videos or music.

Unfortunately the Moto G stylus does not support HDMI video through USBc.
On a samsung TV you will need to add a chromecast for the google home app to find the TV for casting. The chromecast will need a WiFi connection to the internet to set it u. . The phone and the Chromecast need to be on the same wifi network.
@rogergadgetguy Thank you for REMINDING people that there is a DIFFERENCE between MIRRORING and CASTING.
@@sherrisolomon8673 There is indeed, and if the app you are using supports it ,casting is usually better , both for screen formatting and avoiding unwanted information showing up on your TV screen.

I gave up trying to cast to my LG TV . Bought a Chromecast to do that with it's kind of clunky I think if you had it working right it would be better
Can I mirror without wire if I'm on antenna?
Hi Sam if the only connection to your TV is via a broadcast receiving antenna then you will not be able to screen mirror wirelessly. Your TV needs to be connected to WiFi in some way, either directly or with a video streamer like a Chromecast.
Well, after all this, this is basically the answer I was looking for until I can afford a subscription plan! 🙄

good video, but nothing wprks, I have a samsung galaxy A14, and their is no cast option nor smart view. I also have a samsung tv what do I do? I want to cast my phones screen but none of the steps work..
Unfortunately not every version of Samsung TV works with every version of Samsung phone . If both your TV and phone are logged in to the same WiFi network and you can't get them to connect then your only option may be add a chromecast device. On a Samsung phone you would need to use the google home app to screen mirror to Chromecast. I gots a Motorola, and my tv doesn't allow that model by default, smartthings didn't work, what should i do?
Motorola phones run a very standard version of Android without a lot of add ons. They screen mirror to Chromecast out of the Box. If you have a TV that doesn't support chromecast. Any chromecast, Google TV or Android TV video streamer can be plugged in to a spare HDMI port will give you that capability.
Is there any way to do this without having WIFI? Or without using MOBILE HOT SPOT?
There is a thing called wifi Direct that doesn't need a WiFi router for a connection. Your phone probably has it so check to see if it's available on your TV. Miracast works over WiFi Direct, Chromecast doesn't. My personal experience with Miracast over WiFi direct hasn;t been good. It dropped the connection repeatedly for no obvious reason, and making the connection in the first place was pretty hit and miss. Your TV may work better.......or not.
The problem I'm having is when I go to screen cats half the time my TV not showing up as an option but every other TV in the neighborhood is.
How to connect samsung phone to TV, if it's an older TV without internet? Tried with USB-c adaptor cable connecting toUSB on TV, and does not work.
Have you looked on Amazon etc for a usbc to hdmi cable that says it's compatible with your type of phone?
Some apps restricts mirroring especially live football streaming apps
Good to know, Thank You!
Neither my or my husband's phones have 'screen cast' in our pull down menu. Boooo

Try updating the software to the latest version on both the TV and the Phone.
Should have said from the start your phone brand. Not working because most phones must download a screen mirroring app

But I can't cast Hotstar or Mubi

I agree chromecast sucks what if i want to download my movies and watch them off the grid with no lag at great quality you cant do that with chrome cast
You are right. Chromecast is explicitly designed to work only when connected to the internet.
But one has to have a smart Tv?
You can use an older non smart TV, but you need to add a chromecast. The 1080p version for older TV's is less than $30
Installed it.

Yea dont use google cast, just use a hdmi cable that has the type of usb your phone takes
Thanks for posting. That's a great solution if your phone supprts video through USB, many phones don't, and you also give up wireless convenience.
How we do it
I don't have $75 per month for Wifi so basically im screwed i only have bt.

If you don't want to buy a Chromecast, There's a $15 HDMI stick I've tested since I did the video, that works just as well. www.walmart.com/ip/onn-Google-TV-Full-HD-Streaming-Device-New-2023/2262757145?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=1630&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=222222222772262757145_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=9032666&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=2262757145&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw8fu1BhBsEiwAwDrsjIS2GJaM3z-V3LTWakOG4P_KketFpjNqqyTLQLJOdmkfIPvPaP6UvxoCfHgQAvD_BwE

Not any TV just smart tvs...don't lie
You do not need a smart TV. This video covers Any TV with HDMI If you want to be precise I could have said any TV made in the last 20 years. If your TV predates HDMI there are still ways but they are a bit Klugy and I really didn't think there would be enough interest to put them in the video. If your TV has HDMI then just add a chromecast (or a Fire TV) I show that in the video. You only need the cheaperst versions since no TV that is not a Smart TV will need more than 1080p resolution. If chromecast or Fire TV is too costly then I found this stick for $15 that works just as well. www.walmart.com/ip/Google-TV-Full-HD-Streaming-Device-NEW-2023/2262757145?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&wl13=2925&gclsrc=aw.ds&adid=222222222772262757145_117755028669_12420145346&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=501107745824&wl4=pla-394283752452&wl5=1014129&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=local&wl12=2262757145&veh=sem_LIA&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw3NyxBhBmEiwAyofDYeAJ-RXH6ghMm94C32e23OZ_3gB1ELUVxnKAHnwE6ckbhhhZxbq0JhoC3-wQAvD_BwE
Nothing works for me. I tried SmartThings app for my 2009 2180 HDTV Samsung. Most of the apps you recommended ask for a subscription
Anyone know how to screen mirror an iPhone to a non smart Samsung tv without buying anything
