For example if i opened a blank canvas and I copy pasted a picture then after that how to add anotger layer as it isn't not any rxample in layer menu plz explainnn
'Canvas' doesn't mean anything in Gimp. I will try and guess what you are meaning and you can clarify. It seems you are opening Gimp new and then pasting in a picture. Instead, I would right click on the picture on your desktop and select 'open with' and choose Gimp. Sometimes, if you have previously done that, you can right click on the picture and select something like ''edit with gimp'. That will automatically open your picture on the right sized template.
@@kpopxgirlie Okay, if you have pasted your picture into a newly opened gimp, you will have the pasted layer automatically created for you. So in your layers tab, there will be one layer called pasted layer which you can rename if you want. To make more layers, go to the menu above and click 'layer' -> 'new layer'. A pop up box will then appear. Name your layer what you like and change the 'fill with' to a color or transparency. Then select 'Okay'.
@@timbosinfo I know this all and I tried too but after the pasted layer even I know the way to make new layer but after I paste a picture when I go to layer> there is not an option for new layer instead of this it's like - To the layer
@@kpopxgirlie Are you using Gimp in a different language? It sounds like yours is different, but try this right after you paste in your picture: Shift+Control+N - That should give you a new layer you want.
I'm not very familiar with game development in Unreal engine, but I think you may be able to program for any r,g,b, and a changes from within your program if you're trying to change colors on the fly. I would probably try saving the images as whatever file type you need to work with for importing into your engine and then just adjust the colors from there (within your game code). Are you building a sprite sheet? Tell me more about your project. It sounds interesting.
Once you've merged the layers, they are one new layer. If you just merged them within this session, you can 'edit -> undo' (or ctrl + z) as many times as needed to work backwards in your steps. The ideal way to handle all this is to be organized by 'saving as' along the way in your project. Store as many .xcf files as you need so you can make sure you have originals of everything you might need later. Or save the individual layers as .png files in your project folder so you can import it into any project later for use.
This is handy. I'm doing editing in unreal engine and I need a photoshop replacement.

How do I add images to the separate R G B and Alpha channels? I'm trying to make tesselated materials for Unreal Engine

Anyway to unmerge layers that are merged into one layer in an existing file?
