If you want the exact tips that Jill used when she was raising Tawra and David check out her eBook Penny Pinching Mama: 500 Ways I Lived on $500 a month here www.livingonadime.com/store/penny-pinching-mama/
I hope “Penny Pinching Mama” gets traction with your newer audience members. I have listened to it all twice and expect to revisit it regularly. A faith-builder, for sure! Blessings on you all and the kitchen remodel!
Listening in 2023. Jill’s testimony of obedience is so critical to the Christian’s life. I’ve been reading about Elisabeth Elliot lately and her message is the same. I’m in my 7th decade on the planet and I’ve been a Christian for most of that time (was a prodigal for a season) and I have some regret that I’ve not obeyed as these women did. These stories are inspiring. Thank you, Living, for this series. What about a redo of the series for 2023 when Tawra gets back for newer viewers!
Jill, I wonder if you might have considered starting your own RUclips channel for all of us baby boomers and those of all ages who just seem to love you. We don't get to see you often enough! Surviving (and thriving) the Senior Season with grace through God would be a wonderful inspiration for so many. I'll just bet a tour of your home and a "day in the life of" plus budget topics would all be extremely popular. I think you would hit the triple digits for subscribers really quick. In any case, we want more "Jill". You are inspiring!
Thanks Carol. We are tossing around a few ideas trying to get all the youtube and face book things organized. It is especially hard with me not being closer to the kids to get these things figured out and how to work. We aren't ruling anything out at this point. Hopefully when I go back the next time we can record a few more things then before and that maybe a start. Thanks for your kind words.
I guess this answers my question I posted on another video. I was wanting to know if Jill had her own channel which is something I would be interested in. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Thank you Jill so very much for sharing your life with us. You cannot imagine how it has encouraged my heart as a single very broke Mom. Thank you so so much. Blessings to you all for taking the time to do these videos.
This really could be made into a made for tv mini series! I was glued to my seat! Tears, laughter, suspense, even mystery ~ and precious James the dog. Wow❣️
God bless you Jill!!! I had a similar life, but as a daughter. My mother became a widow at 28 with two children, I was 8 and my brother 4. We lived in Chile, things were difficult. My mother was like you Jill! I remember thise days with happiness, because although it was hard, my mother never made it tragic. My love to all three😘
God is good, sometimes we don't understand why he is directing us in the opposite direction in which we want to go, but we have faith and trust him. Thank you Jill for sharing your story, many blessings to you always.
LOVE hearing how people were raised. Your video has SO many valuable lessons that may help others avoid mistakes and problems. Grew up in the 50's and both of my parents were professionals and worked full time as did all my friends parents. As kids we girls and boys, were taught to cook, can, mend clothes, do basic car and home repair etc. Our parents had all gone thru the Great Depression and WW2 and told us these were money saving and even survival skills. All those lessons learned helped me immensely after my husband was left disabled with serious head injuries in '90 and our income was cut 60%. Hope for the best plan for the worst. Being equals is so important when one marries. Something I knew well when I married fifty years ago this month.
Such a touching story I was in tears.Praise God! he put everything into place 4 her.Your mom is a terrific loving person you are so blessed to have her.Have a blessed week.
I like how Tara and her mom are real in talking about her father and why he left the family. It shows that women can keep things going although things are tight and uncertain along with working in harmony with their prayers for gods help with their situation. Matthew 6:33.
Once again, watching it five years later. But I love how Mike is consistently smiling. That may sound insignificant, but that’s huge. Great attitude and approach to life to all three of you💕💕💕
THank you for sharing your story. Love listening to it and learning from you. We all have challenges and can learn from each other. Keep the chapters coming. :)
Holy cow! If this was a movie, it would be criticized for being too outlandish and impossible! What a life your family lived! And as I was listening to Jill explain how she knew that she had to be calm when she showed up unexpectedly (to the kids anyway), so that the kids wouldn't get upset, something occurred to me...I once commented about how calm Tawra was when the oven caught on fire and how it was such a good example for her kids to see how you should handle stressful times. It has been passed down through the family tree. 🌳 Mike, ya picked a good woman. ❤🤗
Thanks for sharing your story! Trust & obey says it all & God takes care of the rest! Truly special how God orchestrated it all in a really tough situation!🥰 Blessings from South Australia💕🐨
Thank you for sharing your very personal and I'm sure painful story with us. You are an inspiration for me and many others who are facing adversity. Your story reminds us to follow the Lord's calling wherever he may lead us and to always trust in his providence. Thank you Jill. Hugs and Blessings!
Thank you so much for sharing your personal story. I am so grateful to hear it...it helps encourage me more than I can express You are all such incredible people !!!
I knew a couple who used to relate the story of the first week they were married and the bride asked her new husband (while she was reading a recipe ) "When it says bring to a boil is that little bubbles or big bubbles?". This was in the late 40's. Lack of cooking knowledge is in every generation when the brides are young.
Wow, now I know the draw towards Jill. A Godly woman. It took incredible courage for you to go to your in-or-outlaws! Definitely shows the power of prayer on both sides. Thank you for sharing your great stories and wisdom. Boy the world needs to use the wisdom the Lord gives. I thought we'd been through a lot, okay we have, and that's the word that comes to me, through, going through, getting through and doing so with dignity. My family gets irritated with me, because I always say, let me pray about this, or I have a check in my spirit, I can't do that now. Wow, it get's some fuming. But that's how I have to be. The Lord in His mercy even when we made a mess, got us through, but not always without consequences. It's just sooo much better to ask Him for guidance, answers, and regardless of the craziness of what He shows/ask just step out in Faith, and that's what you've shown here. Thank you, and God Bless
I really like Michael! He is so handsome and seems so pleasant and nice. You all are a wonderful family. I am 76 years old, but I guess “you’re never too old to learn,”
I really enjoyed this...it brought back memories to me as a child raised up in a single home....You know that's a true saying about "making your enemies your footstool"...in reference to you in-law being he enemy. JESUS know he can truly prick the enemy heart. I'm so glad you shared this part of your life journey it is so much need in this day and time. May you and your family continue to be Blessed.
Gill you have such a sweet and gentle spirit, i don't understand why your in-laws didn't like you? My in-laws literally don't like me and they are trying to hard to make my life miserable 😖. Anyways, i had watch this before and here I'm, you are such a sweet person and transmit so much peace.
Jill, I want to meet you and just hang with you for a weekend! My mother left us, 4 kids and our Dad, when I was 7. We grew up in MA, just outside Boston, in the 70's and 80's. I just deleted more of my comment. We just need to message. Thank you for your story and for being willing to share!!
Jill or Tawra, I just went to your website I want to buy Penny Pinching Mama but you only have it in an Ebook. I don't do so well with reading on a computer, do you all not have a copy I could buy??? I went to Amazon as well to see if Jill had any on there but there was only a used copy for get this 231$, like really lol so if you do have an extra copy I will buy it.
Thank you so much Jill for sharing your story and what a testimony! WOW God is good!! With all the amazing things that the Lord has done for me alone it still amazes me to see how good he is to his people, cant wait for the next video :)
God is absolutely good! I'm uprooting also. Husband going away, and we are divorcing. Papers filed, landlord says I cant move in winter months per lease! Cant pay the rent.
Wow that is unreal! I can't believe you were able to move on $35!! The last time I moved here in Manhattan it cost $18,000 and took a team of 5 packers 3 days to bubble wrap, box, and haul over everything. That was 10 years ago and I said I would never do it again. So sad that Grandpa and Grandma hated pets. it sounds like James was an angel! I don't blame you Jill for not wanting to part with the little guy! Shoot, I'm surprised you didn't have Tawra move out to the dog house and move James in to the spare bedroom! LOL! Just kidding! That was amazing that you were able to get that house for free from great Grandma and Grandpa! And to get all the utilities for free like that! The best think was having the fence wired up to the electric. Ingenious! That way it doubles over as a security system. No ADT alarm needed! Bonus!!! BTW that must have been so awkward when everybody, including your father's family, all descend on your house to take you all away with your father there just chilling in the bedroom. Didn't his parents try to talk some sense in to him or kick him in the butt and say wake up, can't you see you are destroying your family here? They really should have had it out with him. I'm surprised Jill's parents didn't raise hell. Lord knows I would have if my daughter's husband was just sitting around looking foolish while his family is being torn apart. I probably would have left him with two black eyes and four slashed tires! You guys really know how to show restraint!
They had all tried to talk to him a couple of months before and pretty much let him have it the first time I moved to CO - them and many others and there was nothing left to say. He wasn't in the bedroom the whole time, he was helping me pack.

Tear wells up hearing how God provided a home for you and your pet. God is amazing
“Your enemies moved you”. That is paraphrasing the scripture!😂♥️
What a testimony
Mercy I would be in trouble if I had to depend on my in laws. They do not even talk to their own son. Inspiring story.
