      I lost your other comment about reading the Bible and how it's hard. Do you have a newer translation? You might try The New Living Translation Bible and you might try starting with the New Testament. That might be an easier way for you to read it. Email me if you have more questions. Just a little message from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I am not a Christian but I do acknowledge higher intelligence and divine love. But even though we may not share the same faith I feel so inspired by your amazing life story. I am a biographical coach and always love listening to the heroine stories of 'ordinary' people. I am a solo mom and having been working all kinds of different jobs to make ends meet. One of those jobs was taking care of the elderly. Those stories of people who survived world war 2 for instance are priceless! Please know that by sharing your wisdom you are helping me get through a tough time right now with my 2 teenaged sons. ' Be still and know that I am God' is a very powerful mantra to me. Stay well Jill and many blessings to you and your family. ❤️

    Maybe what people are saying is 'been there done that' doesn't mean one still is struggling like some people are doing now. So people should listen to your videos and take from them what they can use and ignore the rest, rather than make unkind comments.. Will note that anyone with a spouse who is not mentally healthy should learn from your videos and never ever assume that the mentally unhealthy spouse will do anything they say will do, and knowing this take full responsibility for any and all issues involving money, signed legal agreements. We had always been frugal and have nice things and are debt free etc. but being a 24/7 caregiver for 14 years made me even more money smart.

      this is so fun to listen to and I could hardly wait for it..and what is really strange is I also needed that saying. I have been trying to get into the Bible but it has always been hard for me to understand. I asked a preacher and he has given me some pointers. he has been a God send to me. instead of trying so hard to try to fix and figure out a situation I'm in now I will be still and know he is God

    • @jillcooper172
      @jillcooper172 8 лет назад +1

      That is really the secret Patty. We wear ourselves out so often trying to fix things although I don't know why it is so hard to keep my hands off of things and let Him work. I do know it does get easier and easier the more I practice being still. I'm excited for for you because none of us have arrived yet and I think the whole secret is to just keep on trying. God will really honor that.

    Wait. I am confused. You said Jill earned $1,000 a month and paid $500 toward debt and then lived on the other $500 BUT that does not account for taxes. Wouldn't she have truly only had $250 left to live on as the net pay after taxes would have been somewhere around $750? And that would have been even more incredible an effort. Just trying to figure things out but the math doesn't work. Love these videos!! An impressive journey of faith and hope. I actually can relate to a lot of it with my own life path.

    • @LivingOnADime
      @LivingOnADime  8 лет назад +1

      When you make that low of an income you don't end up paying taxes but that was take home pay.

    • @jillcooper172
      @jillcooper172 8 лет назад +1

      Actually that was just the average. Since it was a business some months was totally different from others. Sometimes it was only $350 we lived on. Some months I earned a tiny bit more but on average in the past 40 years I have only lived on $500 with some years being a couple of hundred dollars less and others like the past 2 years $700 because I am now on SS.
      But Tawra is right often I made so little taxes were small or not at all and sometimes I did only have as little as $300.

    Wow, love listening to Jill's faith story life. You and I have so much in common. The Lord has done things like that for me and my family also. My mother used to say, this is ridiculous, these things don't happen to normal people. Well, the scripture's say, He is looking for a peculiar people. So we are in good company. You could name your books,- Believe it or not, the choice is yours, Story's of One women's Miraculous Faith Journey through life. See the amazing provision of a loving God through all kinds of hardship; illness that didn't just go away, marital trouble then divorce, feuding in law's that turn angelic, financial quagmire that seems bleak and never ending, automobiles that keep running without natural explanation, making ends meet without ends, while raising well adjusted decent good kids through it all, and talking dogs. All the while knowing God's right there, guiding your going out and your coming in. Get your copy today and watch your Faith soar. Blessings you guys.

    I think God really wanted me to watch this today. My husband is a compulsive gambler and money is always an issue for us, and is often non-existent. We are trying to stay together for our daughter who is 5, and my husband tries to battle his demons but often gets dragged back into it. He is the perfect husband in every other way, so kind and gentle to his daughter and always doing things with her like taking her to the pool, playground, etc. I work as a Kindergarten teacher, and right now he works as a server (since his gambling has cost him a lot of job opportunities in life already). This isn't a life I would have chosen for myself, but I know that God is providing for us through it. I am blessed to have my daughter in the Kindergarten classroom right next to mine. I don't think I could handle having her somewhere else and putting her in before and after school care. My in-laws are paying for her to go to school with me. They have supported us when things have been really, really bad with my husband's addiction. Anyway, thank you for sharing this and it is good to know that there are other people out there who have battled with money issues and have had husbands who aren't providing for their families but are harming them instead.

    Psalm 46:10 is our "team" verse at work. My favorite Psalm, by far.

    "The word of the LORD never comes back void." And she got witnesses with it. That's a praise.

    I'm sure part 10 is somewhere embedded in one of these stories! Y'all are great story tellers. Thanks for being around. You are a source of kindness for me.

    Jill you are such an inspiration to me. I have had rough times in my life but nothing like yours and I'm embarrassed to say that I certainly didn't handle it with Grace like you did. I look forward to each new installment of your story because the Lord is using your story to teach me more about trusting Him.
    Tawra and Mike, you two just crack me up with their commentaries.

    Awesome how God was on your side. Had me in tears hearing this part of your story. Been binging to catch up on your channel but i so needed to hear all this now. Oh and Jill ..I am sorry but you are a lot nicer than i could be..."He felt bad" He felt bad? Are you kidding me? ...he'd have felt bad when i was done saying a word...or a hundred to your husband!! After i slapped his face or punched him. Sounds like he wasnt taking care of anything..Sorry but id probably be scalping him bout then and the pastor would have to be holding me back so as i didnt get arrested right there..again!!!!!

    I understand your laughter, due to the horror of the situation, but it was painful to watch.

    Thank you so much for sharing your story. I find myself waiting for each episode as well. My mother, brother, and I actually went through something very similar as we grew up and it is kind of eerie to hear it. My dad left four different times, leaving my mom high and dry and on her own to scramble and make it work until eventually she just did not take him back. I love her so much because she is so strong and so much better for it. We have a strong faith in God and the signs he provides because of it, so I know what you mean. She made us survivors as well and I am truly grateful for her. It was a rocky childhood, but a great one because of her. Listening to your story reminds me of that and I appreciate it. I just ordered your books for my mom and I. I know she'll love it because she is very frugal as well.

    What a story. You are so very brave Jill, everything that's happened to you. It made me laugh when you had your picture and finger prints done. Hope one days they turn your story into a film.

    I am so enjoying your story! Young people today have no idea what they could do if they use their own resourcefulness!

    What a testimony! I really don't know how you kept it together! I would have been a mess by the time you went to jail. WOW, God is faithful!
